Is Seagate actually a good brand? I used to think so just because of their presence but general sentiment seems like they’re cheap storage that fails often, atleast compared to WD storage
Look at backblaze failure rates and decide for yourself 🙂
I bought 2x Ironwolf 10TB HDDs back in 2017 for about $460 each. Both still running strong in my NAS and no errors.
Can these be used as a normal internal hdd (non nas) for gaming? Need more than the 2tb barracuda and don't want WD black due to price. I was going to get a 8tb firecuda hdd but they're never on sale, at a touch over $300 for the 8tb.
same question here as well. need a quiet HDD
I run 4 of these in a nas. They are noticeably louder than my WD red build nas but run at 7200 rpm after all. Did have 1 fail in 6 months though compared to no faults on my old wd nas in 4 years.
It's a matter of time before they put the price up.
Just as a reminder these are not Ironwolf Pros. No comment on whether this is a good deal or not (Never actually looked into non pros). DYOR on what suits your needs between these, pros, expos and other drives on the market
