      Deal : Buying feedback
      Product: Custom wallpaper and Decals

    This is just free advertising

Not sure how rewarding customers with upto 20% cashback is free advertisng? It's rewarding them for a purchase and getting feedback on a new business. Customer wins and the store wins even if it's a bad review.

        rewarding customers

Soliciting feedback via inducement… Can't see how this is a rewarding experience for anyone.

        • -1

Jeez I forgot why I don't post on this site more regularly. Do you think marketing in general is not all about inducement in one way or another? If you can't see the benefit then all good. Move on it's obviously not for you.

Quite obvious why you don't post regularly. Practice makes perfect..good luck 👍

@easyprintandsignco: Yep move on. Try again. Next time post a bargain and you may get a more positive response. Cashback % gamble upon leaving a review is garbage. Sorry.

  • +5

No bargain listed. Soliciting positive reviews through bribes (discounts) is not a deal.

    • +1

Doesn't require positive feedback.. although an "I'm leaving this feedback to get my 20% bribe" probably won't be published…

I give up. Have you read the page? on the page FAQ's it says the below.

Do I have to leave a 5 star review?
Absoultely not. We want honest feedback and learn from your experience what we could do better in our store to make our customers journey all the better.

      want honest feedback

You don't seem to respond too well to feedback…

      • -3

lol. I'll bite. Here's the facts. most people who buy from online stores, the first thing they do is guess what look at their reviews. So you have a new business namely "us" trying to compete with older established businesses with online eviews

Reality is only 2 in 100 buyers leave a review without some sort of incentive. So we have run an offer to increase reviews, positive or otherwise. with the onus being on us to supply quality product and service to get a positive review. In return we are willing to give upto 20% cashback which they can spend anywhere with an additional 10% reward if they choose to use that on out store. Which if you look at our current online reviews are pretty much ticking that box. And no we do not curate our reviews.

As I mentioned the offer is a good one in my opinion. Using words like "soliciting feedback" and "bribe" in my opinion isn't feedback.

In terms of constructive feedback be interested to learn how you would square this circle?

        • As I mentioned the offer is a good one in my opinion. Using words like "soliciting feedback" and "bribe" in my opinion isn't feedback.

It is direct feedback on the deal or lack thereof…
The product/brand seem secondary to turning customers into defacto affiliates(10-20% built in margin?)

Feel free to spruik your product/service at some point…

        • I give up. Have you read the page?

the first thing they do is guess what look at their reviews. So you have a new business namely "us"

          • Being condescending comes off incredibly unprofessional
          • You've been around since at least 2019, it's now 2023. Should be ample time to gather reviews, gain traction and turn profits.
          • Your initial response should not be directing people to your website. You should be able to succinctly explain every concept of your business in a matter that is digestible and easily accessible to your customers (because after all, customer orders bring in the business). Making them go searching for answers leads to them not purchasing. Telling them to read things they've already read like the title just highlights incompetence.
          • Giving up so easily on such simple customer service and snapping at people is indicative of a toxic workplace culture which will result in less sales.

terms of constructive feedback be interested to learn how you would square this circle?

          • You're not wanting constructive feedback, you're wanting someone to give you solutions to your problems.
          • I think you don't know what constructive feedback entails because you don't take others opinions on board and presume to live in your own fantasy of

As I mentioned the offer is a good one in my opinion. Using words like "soliciting feedback" and "bribe" in my opinion isn't feedback

          • Reality is a lot of businesses fail because they disregard any feedback that isn't positive because they think they know better.
          • Your customers opinions matter more than your own, they bring in the traffic, money, other customers and reputation. Make an informed judgement based on consumer demographics research, marketing and statistics.
          • You've got to be thick skinned and not rejection sensitive to make it and so far it appears you're neither.
  • Face palm!

  • No bargain here.

  • Let me guess, the more stars you rate the bigger the cashback but we'll say it's "completely randomly generated by system".

What I don't get is why you need to tarnish your brand by promoting this publicly instead of keeping it to the emails of those who actually purchase?

Oh this did not work out for you the way you intended..

    • Again someone else who hasn't bothered to read the webpage. The cashback level is broken down into the following:

      10%for a text review
15% for a review with a pic of the product
20% for a review with a video talking about the product.

At no point have I said the better the review the better the cashback.

This was a genuine attempt to both promote our company and to give something back to our customers in exchange for reviews good or bad.

As mentioned earlier we are a new business and trying to get reviews from customers is pretty difficult. Yes we are emailing existing purchasers and we have had some success with getting reviews on both our Etsy store and our Google business page but without an incentive most people either don't have the time or genuinely can't be bothered which is fine.

We believed this offer was a good one but I guess just not for this audience. Lesson learned. We'll be more simple and direct with offers in the future. :-)

      • Again someone else who hasn't bothered to read the webpage

Again someone who couldn't explain the simplest of details but again it's the customers fault and never the company. Jesus Christ dude how are you still in business. You're not really a "new" business, you were founded in 2019 at latest. It's now 2023. You're not some tech intensive startup, you sell wallpaper lmao. It's your fault if you haven't done the groundwork for your company by now.

        • Read the Google reviews…gives some insight into the level they're operating on.

          • @randomusername2017: A good company speaks for itself due to the power of word of mouth, especially one like this which relies solely on their customer base (ie they can't make products in advance). Right now if someone asked me their opinion it wouldn't be a positive one.

I'm sure their work is great but that's the easy part, if they couldn't do it they would be in another field of business. Constructing and retaining customer relations and business reputation is where the struggle lies.

        • You guys love to give it out but can't take a reasonable response in return? I'm loving the keyboard warriors on this site but happy to play along to defend ourselves. Keeps the day interesting.

"Again someone who couldn't explain the simplest of details"

All the instructions for the deal are listed on the page link under FAQ. We've kept this really simple as it's only 5 questions to answer all the info required. If people can't be bothered to read a minimal amount of content before having a go what more can you do?

"You're not really a "new" business, you were founded in 2019 at latest. It's now 2023."

Jack Harry and Ollie was setup last year. Here's the link to clarify from Australian Business Register. https://abr.business.gov.au/ABN/View?id=31655288323 for reference.

"Setup in November 2021 so the business is under 14 months old and not 2019".
Not sure where you got that from?

"You're not some tech intensive startup, you sell wallpaper lmao"
Not sure the point you're making here. Who said we were a tech startup? lol

Like I said good deal just the wrong audience.

          • @easyprintandsignco:

You guys love to give it out but can't take a reasonable response in return?

            Oh the hypocrisy.
You have to be prepared for a lot of rejection and critical feedback as a company. Consumers have the choice to go elsewhere and will exercise that. It's a fact of business. Just like it's a fact not many people will positively review because they expect a positive experience.

You've got a description box to I don't know.. describe? If you can't copy paste your FAQ to the description box that level of laziness doesn't resonate well with your customer base.

Again you have provided no details, so I assumed it was just a name change. If you ran your old company into the ground it doesn't put an awful lot of faith in your abilities. Why not even change your OzB name? It takes a few seconds.

good deal just the wrong audience.

Still with the "in my opinions" even if you're not explicitly stating. Yeah you know who would've been your right audience, people who actually purchased.

            • @pennypincher98: Wow!! Time to end this convo I think. I can see why you have over 17,000 comments on this site. Have a great day my friend. :-)

@easyprintandsignco: I'll just leave with this.

You need your customers. Your customers don't need you. Remember that :)

@pennypincher98: Very insightful thanks. I think I need to turn that into a wallpaper and put in our showroom to remind me. lol
