Counter top ice maker.
Generally these are $150- $160 on eBay/Amazon at the moment. Should come in at $105 with CR currently at 10% for MyDeal.
These units sit on the counter top top and continuously make ice until their internal bucket is filled.
I looked at a comparison Youtube and this model (it appears as many different brands) was the winner of the smaller category

Still can't decide if I really need this at all but hey, OzBargain - so its on the way.

NOTE

  1. Need to be a "new customer" with MyDeal to get the 10% rate at Cash Rewards. I think a fresh email should be OK. "New Customer’s must be new to the MyDeal database. Consumers that have subscribed previously but not purchased previously will be considered as a Returned customer."
  2. STOCKTAKE code is listed on Cash Rewards
  3. It is a good idea to wait 24 hours after delivery before turning on this device as it has a compressor inside and needs time for the refrigerant to settle.

These are good. We have one and are happy with it.

    • devanti have been pretty good so far

now that i think about it my house is starting to look like a devanti show room

btw i recently picked up a devanti countertop dishwasher from prime cart (via mydeal) - it took them a tad longer to post the item than advised on the product page but they used toll IPEC, picked up in melb on friday and delivered to sydney on monday

If you can think of a better way to get ice, I'd like to hear it.

      • +1

        Love these for Negroni Wednesday's!

I have this huge cold box attached to my fridge. I bought these little plastic moulds in the rough shape of a cube. Hard to explain, but you fill them with water and put them in the cold box. Mine can go well below the freezing point of water. So what ends up happening is the water freezes into a cube shape. One side of the mould is open and once frozen you can slide the cube out fairly easily. Probably wouldn’t recommend to a novice, but if you are technical you should be able to get it to work. Saves having to buy an ice machine and you may learn a few skills along the way.

      • +1

We are truely living in the future…

      • +3

What is this “fridge” you speak of? Don’t tell me it uses that “electrickery” thing I hear people talking about…

      • How much are these plastic molds though ? Cheaper than $115 ? I don't think so…. /s

I personally lead an expedition to get the finest ice from the antarctic region, if you buy ice makers and freezers you are killing this vital industry.

      • Unearth any antique teddy bears over there?

      • Fiji ice water

    • +11

There's a twitchy guy in Punchy with a bum bag who will give you your first supply of ice for free.

    • But does this machine provide ice with heady goodness?

    • +2

You've gotta start selling this for more than a dollar a bag, we lost four more men on this expedition!

    • -3

You've got to start selling ice at more that $1 a bag. We lost four more men on this expedition!

      • +1

Ooh, a head bag! Those are chock full of… heady goodness!

  • +1

What is this mysterious evil sorcery? How on earth do you make ice from water? As if.

    • +2

Not sure if you are joking but they have a tiny compressor inside, same as a fridge or freezer

      • +2

Yeah sorry, just joking/being annoying! Seems like a good deal, thanks for posting it. 👍🙏

  • While i prefer my current one which makes squares, this was definitely easier to clean!

    • I clean mine once a month by running some diluted bleach through it for a little while, then wipe all surfaces over with some paper towel.

Then I empty it out, run it for a while with plain water. And repeat a couple more times until the water tastes normal again.

Little bit of a process, but not hard.

I've got one of these. Not this brand, but same same. I have a container in the freezer for ice. When it gets low I just run this machine and transfer the ice to the container so i've always got ice on hand. Or when we have people over for drinks, I just run the machine all night. Works great.

Does a $1 ice tray from kmart do the same thing? Yep. But how good is convenience.

    • +2

True. Makes sense to do it like that rather than running it all the time, with the added benefits of parties, as you mentioned. Hmm… awfully tempted.

    • I do the same thing! Works a charm.

    • +1

Bought the ice machine! Now I just need some friends…

    • How long does it take to make ice

  • Cheers grabbed one. Buyers regret instantly but it will get used

    • +1

You could just flip it back on eBay and get you money back if you change your mind. They are going for ~$150-60

  • +1

Damn, if I had a bigger house and more money I'd love one of these.

    • +11

If you had a bigger house and more money, you'd probably have an icemaker inbuilt into your fridge, alongside plumbed chilled water dispenser. Much better.

      • +1

Hmmm you're probably right. Will let you know what way I go when the time comes.

      • +2

a plumbed fridge for water and ice is life changing

    • Yeah my kitchen is too tiny. Maybe in the next life!

    • If you had more money you'd have spent it all on ozbargain goodness ☺️

  • +5

I initially misread it as Ice Cream Machine. Haha should've gone to SpecSavers.

    • You're not the only one…I did too. The thumbnail looks exactly like our ice cream maker.

    • +3

This explains so much. I wondered why the ice cream was so bland and had no requirement for dairy.

      • Loled!

  • Got a built-in ice making unit with our fridge and I use it a whole lot everyday. Still want to get this though. For those in the knows, this particular unit makes clear or cloudy ice?

    • +2

I would say cloudy. But I am no connoisseur

    • That depends on you. If you boil the water before freezing it the ice will be clear

      • @dosada
        This a fact?

        • -1

          Yes

          • @dosada: Nice. I'll give it a go with my large square and round ice trays.

      • +4

That’s whatever the cocktail version of broscience is. Same as using distilled water.

You need to use directional freezing.

  • Nice. I think I'd like more than 2L though. What model would be the winner of the bigger category?

    • It's far from 2l. Description says.
      Ice bin capacity: 0.7kg

    • I have this one which is made my the same brand.
      https://www.costco.com.au/Kitchen-Laundry-Appliances/Fridges…

      It's awesome.

      • Hey that one makes cubes, right?
Do you need to break them up after each batch or are they separated?

        • +1

          I have this one.

It generally breaks apart as it falls into the ice bin, however a soft tap breaks the rest.

I find this one an absolute pain to clean though.

          • @owwreally: Thanks - yes I was wondering about that with the fiddly ice tray.
Still, its a decent looking machine and holds more volume of ice and the ice itself is of a better shape

            • +1

@King Tightarse: Don't get me wrong I love the ice and use it every day (and prefer over the bullet machine).

However on this model the water rolls over the ice tray to make the ice, where the other one sits in a temporary pool of water then releases it all.

It is very difficult to get into the water reservoir to clean the corners were the gunk builds up, the pipe that puts the water along the top and all the little nook and crannies' of the machine (I use filtered water and still need to clean every 1-1.5 weeks).

Next purchase would probably be a larger unit c.$500 which is hopefully easier to maintain/larger areas.

  • +4

These are great but make sure you put filtered water or bottled water as it is a nightmare to clean especially behind the mould. Had no trouble claiming warranty when it stopped working

    • +7

Thanks, that's exactly the demotivation I needed to skip this deal.

    • How dirty could it possibly get from using 1-2 a month?
Does filtered water make that much difference? Is from the fridge filtered enough to work?

      • It needs cleaning every week or two at least for us. We were using tap water and was leaving dirt marks mostly at the water reservoir just below the ice basket. The issue was getting into the ice mould which was just behind the panel. Couldn't even a tooth brush to clean up that part. Also insects seem to get in somehow

  • Power voltage AC 220-240V/ 50-60Hz

    Power rating: 240W

Def would use more power than 240Watts?

    • +1

My 40L car fridge only uses 85 watts, so 240 watts for a little ice maker seems plausible

    • +1

Nah, you can get 12v portable versions of these (and I suggest buying one of them over this for versatility).
Check how many Watts your actual fridge uses (mind will be blown).

    • Refrigeration power is not directly proportional to unit wattage.

  • What sorcery is this?!

  • Anyone know of a good nugget ice machine available in Australia?

    • Nope.

GE makes the best option but only seems to be available in the USA.
Any parallel imports seem to be very expensive.

  • Bought one for the Summer Ice Coffees..

  • how much noise do these make in operation?

  • +2

I guess atleast the ice would be fresh. Nothing worse than ice that's got that stale scent after a while

  • I just got one of these under a different brand, and its great for the "surge" days when we want to make lots of ice if we are having a party or its a super hot day and having a lot of drinks. Best bit is that it just packs up and sits ontop of the cupboards in the laundry at other times.

  • These are great but we have had a similar (different brand) one die after 6 months. Got a refund through Amazon and bought another (for cheaper) so no great loss.
So I'd make sure you have a decent warranty process with this.

  • Please fix the title:

Devanti 2L Counter Top Ice Maker Machine $115 Delivered @MyDeal

  • Bought one. Thanks!
You dont have to be a new customer to receive cash back. Its just stating the universal condition for those deals that are for new customers only!

  • Register for the extra warranty and save your receipt. Great machines but on my third now and previous 2 have lasted just over a year each.

  • +1

    Straight to the pool room

  • Does the machine keep the ice frozen after it makes it or just dumps it into a tray like an esky that eventually melts?

    • +1

Dumps it into the tray. It eventually melts if not used and is recycled. In the linked video the guy times the 'melt time' of the various machines

  • As much as I want one of these, I just don't have the bench space and my trusty ice cube trays are doing the job at present. But yeah, still want one…

  • +1

Handy bit of kit over Christmas and New Year. The first three or so sets of ice it makes each time you run it can be on the small side (and melt faster) so I toss them and start saving / using the ones after.

  • +1

I believe the deal is still valid as I purchased one this morning delivered for $115 using the STOCKTAKE code.

    • Looks like they re-stocked. Deal is on until midnight tonight

  • Has anybody received theirs? Mine is stuck in delivery for over a week and no sign of moving.
