      constant issues with maps resetting
Also broke the clip where the side brush goes just from replacing it, now need to send in to get fixed outside of 12 month warranty going to cost $88 just to be looked at plus parts and labour

Not sure if it's an issue with all Ecovacs but mine constantly has issues with resetting the map, or duplicating the map and overlaying it on top of the existing map but rotated by 90 degrees

      • Mine too, although it's now just turning around in circles at 13 months of age. Can't seem to get enough support to get it fixed. Likely going to get a roborock or something.

    • wow with two reviews like the above, i will give this a pass

We bought the T9+ which is similar the convenience is nice, however as others have said, there are frequent issues of the maps resetting. The bot seems to get lost a lot, change up the cleaning order, get stuck on nothing, it has issues with the auto-empty station and can't tell whether the mop or air freshener is intalled. I would just get a cheaper model since you'll end up with the same performance anyway. Even the auto-empty station is nice but really isnt needed if you have the time.

Auto empty stations are a waste of time and space for what amounts to a 5 second job on your behalf to empty a bin. AIVI is a word that means nothing. It will vacumn your phone charger cables, it will tangle itself on any loose clothing. The map randomly resets and makes any effort into automating and scheduling zones/areas a waste of time. It will randomly decide it doesn't know where it is after leaving its charging Dock and create a new map because (profanity) you. It does avoid obvious obstacles and it's pathing works well if you have picked up obvious shit off the floor. Mopping is.. Better than nothing. Suction has always been a selling point on the Deebots, no complaints for actually cleaning what it's supposed to. I had a previous model which worked far better with the app but this one is a steaming pile of shit and enough for me to simply blacklist this brand for a while.

I have the standard T8 model - it’s been fantastic. I agree, the software mapping could be an issue for some. It seems to only have teething problems if you move the location of the recharge area. Literally, a simple remap of the device and it’s good to go.
What I also like about this is that Amazon/eBay sell generic spares which are super cheap compared to most other brands. Basic parts yearly shouldn’t cost more than $40.

As for this deal, not sure if you actually need the docking station. The standard T8 on Black Friday was selling in amazon for $387 and recently I saw it around $480 on sale. If you’re happy to wait and keep checking for deals, they seem to keep them rolling out.

  • I returned mine after getting it on sale last time for $650 ($699 + $50 sign up voucher from Ecovacs). After 2 weeks i think i had the map reset about 5 times and went into my no-go zone about 3 times. Emailed support and said im going to return it, asked for screenshots of the errors and then sent it back and got refund.

    • That's handy to know if it really goes awry. Did you buy via eBay?

To be fair, I was constantly deleting the 'current' map on my Roborock S5 to get rid of extra overlays each time it ran - so if the map goes screwy, that's the norm for me.

I've just sent back a Yeedi Pro 2.. and it couldn't map my house to save it's life. I thought I'd give a non-LIDAR vac a try, and it didn't work out for me. Maybe my layout.

This is how I worked it out based on searching 'the best' past deals (excluding Black Friday, wish I got it then!):

T8: $509.15 (From OZB search, excluding OOS offers)
'Advanced Mopping System' (vibrating): $99 (Google Search)
Self-Emptying station (probably not needed, but would be handy): $199 (From OZB search)

    $807.15

  • I have had the T9+ with auto docking station for 9 months. I have floorboards and rugs. Overall I am happy with it. I have maps set up for ground floor and first floor and it recognises which floor it is on and loads that map.

The auto empty works well - if you have pet fur there is a small attchment you can get or get 3D printed that closes one of the cleaning vents and forces out the god hair into the dustbin.

I also use the mop function, I didnt think I would. You need to wet the mop pad beforehand and also clean and change it regularly. It works best on a higher water flow setting and the more detailed mopping setting (not the quick mop). And it helps to break the area into smaller sections and clean out mop pad between sections.

I have read about the issue with maps resetting but have not faced that issue. It would be a real pain if it happened frequently.
You do need to tidy the floor and check for cables and obstacles before using since it is a real pain if something gets tangled in it. And you do need to clean and maintain it - eg clean the rollers and wheels etc. Its the only robo vac I have used so I cant compare to any other cheaper ones.

  • For those with the map resetting issue, I also have this T8+ and found that it uses both the initial lidar scan when activated and the WIFI strength from the router. So if you want it to be able to locate its position more successfully and not reset the maps, then make sure your wifi router at home is located in a place that has good signal strength in relation to where your T8+ is located.

The negative point I would give regarding my experience with this vacuum is that the self-emptying dust bin operates through 2 small openings into the docking station. Those 2 openings are too small if it tries to auto-empty it of carpet fluff or pet fur. I find that 90% of the time I have to manually clear out the vacuum's dust collection box. This is a pretty bad design choice, and will affect those with pets and carpet.

    • Sleepycat there is a small part you can get that blocks one of the openings in the docking station. It increases the suction and forces all the fur out one opening. I have lots of dog hair and it works perfectly. You never need to manually empty the bin. I got my son to 3D print mine but i think you can now buy them. There is also a few youtube videos on how to close one vent.

  • Got an Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo 950 for my parents and have regretted it ever since.
Forgets maps every few weeks and I gotta then set the bloody thing up all over again from scratch.
The hardware itself might be okay but it's let down by shit software/app.
Do yourself a favor and get anything else but Ecovacs.
Don't believe me , have a look on Reddit or whatever forums. Tons of folks having the same issue.

  • I bought the N8+ (robovac and emptying station) through Amazon Boxing Day sales for $699. Returned it through Amazon yesterday after left wheel / motor stopped working and “R2” turned continuously to the left…..Disappointed, as up until this issue it worked well and has greater suction than the T8+. Reviews also support this. Had the vacuum for 4 weeks before it failed.

Now looking for something more reliable.

  • The robot arrived the next day! It took 80 minutes to map my house. The accuracy is better than my old S5 and the Mi Home app (I've heard the roborock app is way better)

And I've turned on the multi-map feature in-case it screws up (good advice from Reddit).

The Yeedi was asking for it's 30 hour service by the time I tried that many times to map the house.

I'll report back in 30 days and let people know if it's screwed up like everyone elses

    • Any update?

      • Yep, sent it back. Mapping was ok, but the mirror issue was horrendous compared to roborock.

It developed a weird grinding noise when idle too.

I did my best and contacted customer service and in the end, they said I could replace it with a new one if I were to contact yet another person (an AU rep?)

After that, I gave up and sent it back with eBay Plus.. not once did they acknowledge my messages on eBay and I had to get eBay to issue the refund.

I bought a roborock s7… it's fantastic. Dust bin is a bit small but it's great otherwise.
