2013 Camry Tyres Replacement 215/60R16

Hello all,

Recently bought a second hand 2013 Camry. Front tyres have 10-15% tread left. Been shopping around for new tyres. 215/60/R16

Have been looking at Bridgestone Potenza/Turanza - 4 for 3 deal, Michelin, Pirelli and BFGoodrich.

Because of my work nature, I’m usually 80% on Highway, and 20% on regional places - Travelling down to mine site for work on the weekdays, back to the city on weekend. 600km-700km travelling per week.

So I’m hoping to have good tyres with good traction, good fuel economy and longer life. Might have to sacrifice a little tyre life for better grip as I’m travelling mostly in the 100km/h zone, and the area rains quite a bit during winter.

Just throw a set of Michelins @ it.

What did your tyre dealer tell you is a good tyre?

Good grip and long life are usually mutually exclusive. Good grip usually means softer compound. Long life means harder compound.

Good grip, good economy, long life. Pick any two.

    • I agree that Good grip and long life are usually mutually exclusive but you've contradicted yourself with 'Good grip, good economy, long life. Pick any two'

I've also noted that long life tyres are also noisier.

I had some Nankang tyres that the previous owner put on just before selling the car. Grip was surprisingly good so I couldn't justify replacing them as they were new.

They were noisy and my god they lasted ages in a FWD turbo hot hatch lol.. eventually replaced them with Goodyear Eage F1s…. so much quieter but lasted half the lifespan. Happy with the tradeoff.

  • Turanza will be fine.

Just throw a set of Michelins @ it.

I'm with Hackney on this. I have Pilot Sports on our GT86 and these Primacy's on our Corolla & Elantra:

Costco sometimes have a 4 for 3 deal on Michelins.

That said, I don't think you would regret buying Bridgestone, Pirelli or BFGoodrich. Most of the major brands are OK. However, avoid the cheap Chinese tyres, they aren't as safe. Also, I wouldn't bother asking your tyre dealer as they would probably just recommend what is convenient for them.

@BrettSh.I am a bit biased when it comes to Michelin(& Continental)but for good reason,I have used them for over 40 years, back to the old ‘XSAS’ days.Never once have I had an issue with them.Had Pirelli’s on my GT Mustang, just shockers! Replaced with Pilot Sport 4 ‘S’, one hell of a tyre!Had Primacy 4 SUV on my CRV Honda(now sold) these are a very good tyre,Came out top in the 2021 Tyre Review test(You tube) followed by the Goodyear Efficient grip 2 ‘SUV’(another excellent tyre!)Now running a set on my Honda HRV Hybrid(Primacy 4).Very nice tyre. But will be going for a set of Continental Premium Contact 2 for my little Fiesta Ecoboost.

  • I’ve done some research around, and Ozbargainers prefer Michelin over other brands.

I’ve also heard good things about Goodyear Assurance.

Would other tyre places price match/beat against Costco’s price?

    • Goodyear Assurance are fine.

What you're looking for is a touring tyre.

Check out the following in no particular order, Bridgestone Turanza, Michelin Primacy , PIRELLI CINTURATO, CONTINENTAL TechContact, Dunlop.

As long as it's a well known Japanese or European brand you'll be fine.

Check out what's on special at the moment.

2 months ago it was the half priced Pirelli's but buy 3 get 1 free is still decent

    • That deal seems to only comes once a year during BF sale. Wish I could hold till then, but my tyres definitely won’t last till then.🙁

      • Yeah I know hence why I said buy 3 get 1 free deals are still decent
