http://ijk.com.au/branch/ijk/product_info.php?cPath=27_502&p…I'm not a computer geek but wouldn't it be better to go for Samsung SSD 830 120Gb for $128 than this intel SSD?
Here is the way I see it.
- Intel
- Crucial M4
- Sandisk
- Others (including Samsung)
Who downvoted this guy? He pretty much has it spot on.
Samsung makes good TVs and phones, but it doesn't automatically mean that everything they make is the best.
Not that this SSD isn't good or anything, but Intel and Crucial are the benchmark for reliability in SSDs.
$128 is cheaper than $168 ($165 if you look around), but you're getting Intel's reputed reliability, 5 year warranty and their RMA rate of less than 1%.
@h4lcyon
That list is incorrect.
If you want to weigh up reliability vs speed vs warranty support vs availability it goes
Intel
Samsung
Fusion
Everything else. You need to remember that Samsung, intel, Fusion IO are being deployed on a mass scale in consumer and server products, hell OEM's weapon of choice is Samsung SSD's.
Thanks for the heads up :)
Hi Copie - I don't know anything about Fusion, but wouldn't Crucial be a step above everything else (more reliable but maybe slower write speed?)
And I thought a lot of big review sites tend to put Samsung and Intel neck and neck?
$169 as MSY.
Love seeing the prices drop but don't think this is anything special

MSY just dropped its price to $158, not massive but still better than this.

Price drop just announced, i would wait a little while.
Also, you can get the OEM version for cheaper, on amazon, or PCI DIY in australia ($149).
I have 2x OCZ vertex 3 MI in RAID 0, currently TRIM is not supported in raid.
Apparently Intel were releasing drivers to enable TRIM support for RAID 0 setups. This would be the only reason i would buy intel 520 SSD, anyone know the update for these trim enabled drivers? Else wise ill stick to my ocz vertex 3 MI for the time being.
Great price for one of the best drives on the market. And before someone asks yes these are superior to m4's
