    Thanks op, bought 10

The 4090 bottlenecks even the latest CPUs at 4K. This is a joke!

  • Well done on this build. For anyone complaining about the specs its a good cost saving option with minimal impact on performance.
The price to go to current mobo, ddr5 ram and cpu jumps up fairly drastically.
I have just finished buying parts and can tell you the difference is easily an extra 600 for the trio upgrade. My 3070 itx build went from $1800 to $2500
    Changes were z690 itx to z790 itx, 32gb ddr4 3200 to 32gb ddr 5200, 12400f to 13600kf.

This gaming PC would look like Arnold at his prime but skipped the leg days.

  • Wow I spent 2k on a gaming PC and thought that was a lot. Are ozbargainers actually spending 4K on a PC?

    Who here actually bought one?

    • +2

Probably people with good stable income.

It's not that much when you don't have many expenses besides transport costs, food and rent.

Personally I like to splurge myself on my electronics (tablets, phones, headphones, pc stuff) I don't have any other real expenses besides work stuff.

      • Money is not an issue, it's enthusiast that spend this cash on 4k
It's the same as ppl spending huge money on upgrading cars , it's just what they love to do

        • Exactly right my friend.

Like for me it has been a dream since I was a kid to just own one of these enthusiast level machines so I got something close to it to sate my desire.

Felt good and now I can relate more to people who buy expensive stuff be it cars or fashion and jewellery.

It's something we work hard towards and for.

          • @AlienC: Yeah me too , my whole life I was poor and was always gaming on budget cards and medium settings
Always had to turn graphics settings to medium and play with that to get steady fps
It feels good to play on ultra and it's smooth ☺️, yet I'm not that much into 4k though , I'm happy with 1440p and 32 incher and game on 240 Hz
I got 6800 xt year or two ago and plan to keep that got few more years , then I'll prob upgrade to highest end at that time

        • I agree. Money is not an issue for me either. I spend on niche hobbies no one else wild get.

I’m surprised by how many positive votes this has garnered. Like the highest end iPhone pro max super 1TB etc deal getting a lot of positive votes instead of flak

I'm curious who actually bought the non-upgraded one.

      • -5

Poor customer who has no knowledge about GPU bottelnecks….

        • That's prob 95% of the ppl.
This deal seems good value as you get top tier card and the whole system for $3.8k but it really makes no sense to buy old gen CPU and new gen GPU . People at this bracket are spending huge sums to get that few extra % , not to lose it

        • How much will the 13400 bottleneck at 4k? Asking honestly as I am seriously considering this

(I was about to spend 3k on a 5700x+4080 build, so the extra $800 for 4090 seems reasonable).

          • @soaringphoenix: Just upgrade the ram and cpu to 32gb and 13700f but will go to 4200, i would upgrade mobo to the TUF b660m.
It would be far more balanced
In saying that I honestly think the limitation is a little exaggerated here for 4k gaming. It is just more balanced with those upgrades.

            • @maverickjohn: 3k was my limit so I'm already stretching to 3.8k.

Would I be better off then just with the 3k 4080 build?

              • -1

@soaringphoenix: I dont think so the 4090 is such a significantly superior card to 4080.
Just stick to the base build it would still be better than the 4080 with a better cpu etc

                • +1

@maverickjohn: Thanks for your input. That was my feeling too.

                  I'm only gaming at 4k.

With the 13400, I was expecting maybe a 10% reduction in fps compared to a more high end CPU, but I can't find any data on this.

If it's really an issue in a few years, I figured I could just upgrade the CPU then.

                  • +1

@soaringphoenix: That sounds like a smart think to do

                    • +1

@maverickjohn: Thanks for your thoughts mate 👍🏻

                      • +3

@soaringphoenix: Don’t listen to him. CPUs are not so relevant at 4k. Fast ram and good CPUs will give you fps at 1080/1440p but not so much at 4k.
A CPU as cheap as a AMD 5600 (=13400f) will only be 2-3% slower than a i9-13900k at 4k. Yes.

Gaming in 4k = gpu bound. Every games.

                        Oh and a 4090 is a generational card, the first true 4k gpu (it’s ~ 1080ti - a legendary card) while a 4080 is an overpriced card.

                  • @soaringphoenix: 10%? You'd be lucky to get a 5% uplift if you upgrade to 12700F or something

              • @soaringphoenix: No, 4080 is far worse for 4k then this deal, even with crappier CPU

                • @botchie: Thanks for all your input guys, very helpful

                  • +2

@soaringphoenix: Absolutely DO NOT 'upgrade' to a TUF B660M in this build as maverickjohn suggests, the TUF B660m is a crappier mobo.

The B660 Tomahawk is a top notch B660 motherboard that has better VRMs (more efficient and runs cooler), 1 more m.2 slot, 2 more SATA ports, and has an ALC1220 codec where Asus is quite sus not listing the audio codec model at all.

Overall the TUF is an ok motherboard for its market segment but actually a definite downgrade compared to the B660 tomahawk see https://youtu.be/PEa0vcJ0lRY?t=1062

The base build in the deal will game fine, and performance wise the other upgrades maverickjohn suggested are actually reasonable (more RAM and a 13700F later on).

                    • @AussieDeals: I couldnt edit my comment but yes i didnt realise it was the tomahawk . Mobo can stay the same.
Apologies on that i realised after i edited. But his budget was 3.8k so i suggested to stay with base build anyway

        • I think you meant CPU bottleneck mate. Not that will be an issue as the 12400F is good for 4K gaming, on par with Ryzen 7700X. https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-ryzen-5-7600x/21.html

          • @Ryballs: Thanks for your ongoing feedback guys.

From what I'm reading online, the 12400 vs 13400 doesn't seem to make much of a difference at 4K. BPCs comment earlier stated the same. Gonna go with the 12400 in that case.

        • +1

          so you bought it then?

Because you have no fking idea what you are talking about

    • You need to spend around 4K to play in 4K (decently).

    • A lot expensive hobbies out there. My friends would drop 10k modding cars in a flash back in the day. Other mates are pumping eye watering moneys into their boats and fishing equipment. Caravans, jet skis. Various subscriptions memberships to gyms clubs. Even gambling and other vices chew up 4k pretty damn fast. Gaming sounds indulgent but if youre spending good amount of time doing something then why not?

  • This build has a really budget GPU, it has the word "essential" in it. Its named after stationary back to school deals. They aren't even confident in their product. Can't argue with the price to performance tho.

If you want something quality, avoid, if you wants fast FPS without the work, this is a good deal ATM.

  • Hi Rep, I am recommending one of your higher end models to a couple of friends of mine, this one:

Kraken Power Syber GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4090 Gaming PC
    https://www.bpctech.com.au/product/kp-syber-4090-kraken-powe…

Any chance you guys can add a few upgrade options to the motherboard, RAM, and power supply please?

And maybe an OzBargain discount too ;) but more importantly a few upgrade options for that would be a nice addition.

    • +2

If you want to change that many components just buy a different system or build your own

  • Any chance on a R5 7600 + 4070ti deal?

  • What do I need to upgrade to make this a beast? Just the CPU and memory?

  • I have a 1440 monitor. Will I be able to play games fully cranked with this system? Asking as a bit of a noob.

    • It's an overkill for 1440p, just find a good used 3080 and you will be more then fine

  • -4

The ram and CPU choice is questionable, latest gen gpu with old gen CPU and only 16gb ram pass.

    • How insightful

      • -1

Infinitely more than yours, considering that is the only comment you've made.

If you disagree, explain yourself, but you won't.

Too many idiots on these forums.

If you buy this system to use as is, you're doing it wrong.

  • +1

Good price and good parts, may be newer amd 7000 or intel 13th gen cpu with 32G DDR 5 memory will make it greater and more balanced gaming PC. 12400f or 16G DDR 4 memory are best budget CPU and memory bundle, but doesn’t really pair well with 4090.

  • -4

4090 in rtx will still play under 4k in native format but not for that price.
If the 4090ti isn't 48gig or 32gig themln there's no value in it.

There's no such thing as 4k rtx native format at 60fps, 4k with out rtx in native format sure unless we upscale it then yes the 4090 pointless card at any value level given it's using mostly tensor cores to do the heavy lifting based on what the developer tweaks in their games on their gpu's would probably be much higher then the gpu's nerfed.

But remember why your buying Nvidia as their goals to push rtx, not FPS

  • Thanks OP!

If you're gonna bend over a barrel, may as well smile while you're there.

Why fork out that much for a 4090 and not pay a few extra dollhairs for the z series motherboard and an unlocked i5 or i7. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

  • Price has went up to 3999 before upgrades
