USB2.0. They were slow enough 10 years ago (I bought some then, still usable, but I couldn't say I've enjoyed using them over the years). Don't torture your kids / yourself.

It is fine for transferring schoolwork, even an occasional video project.

      • I agree with what happyhayward said below :)
BTW, the write speed (for large files such as preparing a boot disk) of my drives (8GB / 16GB) are 3-4 MB/s only, much worse than what USB2.0 could achieve.

    • "Don't torture your kids"
      Bought 10 .

      • You evil evil man.

        I like it. 👌

Say NO to the USB 2.0 drives even they are cheap.

    • +7

Why? They're good for holding onto archived files

Students are likely using Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive or iCloud for automatic sync, which are all probably faster. Windows and Apple devices also have built in wifi sharing (i.e. AirDrop), so I doubt that students would use the USB.

      which are all probably faster.

      In a perfect world, yes.
But if you're not in the metro region of a big city, the odds of your internet speed being faster than USB2.0 is unlikely.

Not to mention, not every parent (hell, not every SCHOOL) is capable of affording that speed of internet either; so these certainly have their place.

These things are great; they're my chosen replacement for CD's in the car.
Cheap enough to put a bands whole discography per stick, or just split your music by mood\genre; whatever you want.

Never had a read speed issue in any head unit I've tried.

  • +1

Yeah they're slow but they're pretty reliable. For that price I wouldn't expect speed or reliability so at least we get one

  • Not worth it for USB2.0

  • Slow slow slower i got few of these couple years ago im still waiting for the first 1gig file to load .lol

  • The OzBargainer in me generally results in walking out with at least one of these at this price each time I visit an Officeworks store.

  • usb 2 is still a thing!!! OMG. I couldn't even deal with usb 2 usbs 10 years ago.

  • $26 delivery for 2 !!! Bargain.

  • Floppy = USB 2 Drive in 2023

also good as a boot stick for ESXi OS. Yet to have a failure in 10 years on these.

  • "It comes with a 5 year warranty."

That's pretty good. Scan the receipt.

    • And save it to USB.

      • Instructions unclear. Now i got it saved on a 5 1/4" floppy diskette. But that's OK. I backed it up on my iomega zip disk.
