RYOBI 18V ONE+ 125mm Cordless DA Random Orbital Polisher Tool Only $173.66 Delivered @Amazon AU via Amazon Germany.
Sold by and ships from Amazon Germany.

This is the newer European and UK version which comes without D handle so that hand grip is covered w/o exposure to any metal parts.
The AU and US version is sold with a D handle. Using it w/o that handle leaves the metal areas naked that is critised by pro detailers on you tube for risk of burning hands and fingers due to overheating (up to 68 degrees).

AU version is $199 at Bunnings https://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-18v-one-125mm-random-orbit…

I do not know whether Bunnings do price match Amazon.

Can be combined with https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/750716 to save further.

No cashback with either SB or CR for this category unfortunately.

  • Anyone know how performance compares to say a corded model?

Was looking to pick up of the 'ToolPRO Dual Action Polisher 240V 720W 150mm $130 from supercheapauto'.

Guessing this is more expensive because it's cordless? Or is the random orbital different to dual action?

I've already got Ryobi stuff at home so have batteries.

I've got the ToolPro and its decent for the price. It overheats like a mofo (rubber grommet shredded away) and you have to be careful where you hold it.

A corded model will be superior to a cordless and in this case the Ryobi isnt bad but it isnt good either.

If you just want to put on some polish or some fine correction then it should be ok.

    • DA and random orbital are the same thing. The orbit diameter might be different.

    • I imagine the corded one would weight heaps less for starters. Never thought to myself that I would need to polish something away from a garage or workshop.

I bought this Ryobi polisher last year, used it a couple of times on my car. IMO, as a beginner DIY "detailer", it is a decent cordless polisher, very easy to use, good ergonomic and the weight is quite balanced with a 2000mah battery. It comes with 3 different low profile pads, size of the pad maybe on the small size and 125mm orbit is probably also on the small size.

It does heat up a fair bit, but when you get used to the polisher, you sort of aware of the metal parts and won't get close to it. Battery life is ok, 2000 mah will give you around 20-25 mins at around 5000 rpm. It is capable of polishing, waxing the car and some light cutting/ compounding.

If you have couple of the Ryobi batteries and want something that can do a light paint correction, I think it is a decent buy. Otherwise, you may want to look into DeWalt/ Milwaukee/ Flex for something more powerful.

      Hope this helps.

i would rather pay the difference to 199 at bunnings and have 6yr tool warranty

Not enough savings to not have Bunnings ease of return/refund

    • That's an expensive warranty - for an extra 1/7th of the cost, you're betting on the chance of needing a warranty repair to be greater than 1 in every 7 tools.

In reality it's going to be way less than this.

  • Very expensive because it doesn't have a battery, is only 8mm, is underpowered and is a Ryobi.

Battery power doesn't last long as it needs to be used continuously, so you'll need 3-4 batteries.

You can buy a professional 15mm RO that's corded for $250.
