When I was growing up, all I ever wanted to be was a professional vegetable slicer. Now, with this Professional Mandoline, I can!

You also can be "progressive", the key defining term for this generation

      • Progress happens every generation! (Despite the best efforts of conservatives and reactionaries to hold society back.)

    • Well, that went downhill quickly.

  • Been waiting for it to go this cheap on Amazon to bite the bullet. Thanks OP.

  • Cheers, grabbed one!

  • Is this a reputable brand?
    Comparable to Benriner?

    • +2

Benriner is a simpler system, easier to clean up afterwards.

I have used both, this one (I bought one similar at Aldi) I found the legs get in the way when cleaning.

More of a Nicer Dicer kind of guy. That Chef Tony from the infomercials really has a trustworthy face.

  • Has anyone used this and let me know if this is a good one?

Anyone know how it compares to something like this?

Looks like a better one by reviews and some features isn’t it? Thinking about cancelling the advertised one and getting this one.

    • Thanks for sharing this - i am liking this one so probably will order it.

Sounds like Borat is doing the narration for the demonstration video 🤣🤣 "Wow, the awesome cucumber mask has been done"

i cut myself every time i use this thing

    • have a few war scars from various battles, including just picking it up without the blade safety engaged. Still use it though, until it kills me ;)

    • you should only use with cut proof gloves. I have 'tested' them a number of times now, but not on purpose.. You could argue it's more slippery with gloves so would not have had the same accident rate without gloves, but I don't like the risk

Sharp knives are safe knives and the same is true here. These are very blunt as mandolines go and are far more dangerous to use than a razor-sharp guardless model. I only use mine for waffle cuts and eggplant moussaka consistency (which it still manages to rip a bit) if it weren't for that waffle cut use I'd have returned it. If you plan more general use then consider buying a simpler sharper model or some guard gloves to avoid skating a fillet off your hand as this one requires a lot more force than other well-regarded mandolines.

Any recommendations on better models (and guard gloves!!)?

      • +1

Anything in the Benriner form factor with replaceable blades works well. The gloves I have are no longer listed, but I searched cut resistant gloves and butcher gloves and picked one among the latter.
