    I have heard similar stories. I am not sure if I'd be willing to risk the electronics in a good car to save a few dollars.

      I'd be more concerned about it damaging the iphone. The car is probably cheaper to repair than the iphone4, if something goes wrong. At least the car has an easily-replaceable fuse.

      For an Iphone, I'd want to be buying from an Australian seller with an ABN. Think of the extra few dollars as insurance.

      Even if there was, it rarely means anything when you buy from these chinese stores.. they'll stick any label on it regardless.

      That aside, these things usually wont put out 1000ma.. 500ma if your lucky..

    I bought a couple of these from dx a couple years ago and modded it to output 1A (AC charge) as opposed to 500mA (USB charge). I haven't had any problems.

        How long did it take till they said they had shipped from when you ordered? I just ordered one of those torches posted earlier along with a couple of other bits, got an email saying was shipped a couple of days later.. now just wait to see if gets here in the 2-3 weeks they quote.
