Anyone know if these will fit the Bugatti Chiron steering wheel?

  • +12

Better off with a windshield cover

    • +4

They would say that doesn’t cover side windows 😂

      • +4
    • +1

Or if you're Aussie, a windscreen shade.

    • tint is the real solution

      • +2

Tint doesn't help much with windscreens and hence dashboards, steering wheels, front seats (leather/vinyl esp) though.

  • +3

The grippy gloves from Daiso serves me well during summer time.

  • -4

Geez such a niche market… probably only for people who can only park their cars heading north or south in a hot late afternoon or hot early morning.

    • +5

Or live anywhere but ACT or TAS.

      • -1

You missed my point I was actually comparing it with the normal windshield shade.
You don’t need this steering wheel cover if you have a windshield cover and not have park like what I mentioned above.
For this item I guess the only use case scenario is when you REALLY need to prevent sunshine coming from the sides. (That was why I mentioned parking direction and late afternoon early morning etc).

For me, doesn’t matter wherever you live, put on a windshield shade you will be happy.

        • I didn't see you mention whole window covers, obviously they are better.

As for direction…. Sun in the middle of the day, it doesn't matter which side I'm parking.

I have dark tints on sides, they don't do anything for the wheel.

          • -2

@scuderiarmani: Like you said, sun is in the middle of day.
You only get sun from the sides when it’s early morning and late afternoon and you heading north or south.
Normally people don’t care as it is not hot at that time, so you don’t need a steering wheel cover. But if you do park like that and do care that little bit sun, ok, you need it as windshield doesn’t help the sides.

      • Why not the ACT? Regularly high 30s, hotter than anywhere along the coast

        • +1

'Australian Capital Territory is one of the coldest regions in Australia with an average daily high temperature of only 21 degrees.'

          https://www.worlddata.info/australia/australia/climate-austr….

He was from ACT…. it's all relative. ACT isn't like other places in Australia.

          • @scuderiarmani: Ah, the old average myth. Canberra's winters are cold, hence your average is lower than many other places. Shades are usually used in summer. SA, WA, NT, inland (esp) NSW and QLD/Vic all regularly have temps of 30+ in summer, depending on location.

            • @Igaf: Average Canberra Temp in Dec, Jan and Feb
              26, 29 & 28.

Average Perth Temp in Dec, Jan and Feb
              28, 30 & 31.

Quick Google. Not sure on accuracy, but Canberra isn't even close to others.

I'll raise the 'regular high 30s' with regular mid 40s in WA and SA.

              • +1

@scuderiarmani: Recent temp in Canberra is 15-32ish every day. Not comparable to Adelaide 20-35 but on par with other major cities except Hobart. Cabin gets very hot under sun so shade is needed during the day if no cover.

              • @scuderiarmani: Moot point given sunshades are used pretty much everywhere across this wide brown land but averages are poor statistical indicators of pretty much everything. Even moreso in this case given they are taken at specific locations (only one BoM station in Canberra iirc, at the airport) and, more critically, are taken in the shade. Car colour, window position and breeze or lack of it will have a much bigger effect than 2 degrees in your examples.

                • @Igaf: Adelaide and Perth are hotter. Regularly.

I'm not arguing the blatantly obvious.

Hell freezes over before it snows in WA and SA.

                  • @scuderiarmani: Obviously, as are tens of thousands of other places. To get back to your original comment. Are sunshades "necessary" in the ACT? Absolutely.

                    • @Igaf: Tell the ACT local that. Not me. He obviously doesn't think so. He couldn't think of any situation.

Obviously as a South Australian I can justify these.

And as I've said, I only burnt my hands this week trying to back out the car. Probably the 3rd time this Summer.

                      • +1

@scuderiarmani: Verballing is a bad habit to get into.

                        • @Igaf: 'probably only for people who can only park their cars heading north or south in a hot late afternoon or hot early morning.'

'Hold on guys! We forgot convertible car owners. (I am trying so hard to think any possible use case scenario for this crap).'

Learn to read and explain to me how he's justifying these, in the ACT.

Better yet, don't bother replying. I'm over this BS.

                          • +1

Learn to read and explain to me how he's justifying these, in the ACT.

Interesting argument - a classic logical fallacy.

I missed the part where he said sunshades are not necessary in the ACT. Can you link because I didn't read all the banter?

I didn't miss your comedic comment about sun and midday though, just I didn't think it worth pointing out your obvious error.

Edit: just saw this: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/13227965/redir . Seems someone needs to learn to read, or remember.

                            • @Igaf: People don’t read properly these days.

If he read again this thread or my other separate comments in this deal post then he will know I was clearly saying I don’t like this crap and just go for the normal windshield shade as I can’t find any valid use.

                      • @scuderiarmani: “ Tell the ACT local that. Not me. He obviously doesn't think so. He couldn't think of any situation.”

You still don’t get my point? All I am saying is you don’t need this wheel item and you better off having a normal windshield shade!
That’s why I was joking the use case scenario is so NICHE: heading north south, sun from side balabala…

                  • @scuderiarmani:

Hell freezes over before it snows in WA and SA.

Actually saw snow in SA some time ago on the way to the Flinders Ras. It's rare but not unheard of. Nice state and people btw

Bro, sometimes we are lucky to find a spot. I am not gonna be picky and get my compass out to check if I like the spot.

      • -1

Mate that was a joke…read above

      • +2

SMH can't believe you don't carry a compass around and check your orientation before parking!

      • that would be a noob move. real pros use those feng shui panels and calculate using their fingers.

  • +6

These are rather pointless if you put the actual windscreen shade on (which will block a whole lot more heat out).

    • yes but that adds one extra minute to my commute, and then it falls

  • +6

Hold on guys! We forgot convertible car owners. (I am trying so hard to think any possible use case scenario for this crap).

    • +1

Ever parked in a car park without cover? Left a car on the road without shade?

      Don't think too hard.

      • I have seen quite a lot convertible cars parked on streets with shade down in good weather days.
Even risking bird poo people don’t like the hassle to bring the shade up every time.

        • +1

I'm not even saying it for convertible only.

On the weekend I parked at a shopping centre, no cover. Came back, wheel burnt my hand within an hour.

I'd say it would have been useful….

Car is tinted too. Obviously front windows aren't.

        • +1

Uh you live in the ACT…

I'll send you some mittens and tyre chains instead

  • Will it fit my Tesla yoke steering wheel?

    • +1

I am wondering too. And I am also wandering will it fit Tesla cyber quads as it doesn’t have a roof. A must have.

    • Telsas don't have self-cooling steering wheels? Technology company my arse.

      • +1

no need. just cool the entire cabin

      • Tesla does but you need to pay the subscription fee for that feature.

    • +1

Teslas don't need these. Tesla's much more advanced, as soon as temperature reaches unbearable, driver airbag pops up to prevent heat injury.

  • +1

Do you have to take it off while driving? asking for a friend.

    • +1

not safe to take off while driving!

make sure you only take it off after your drive.

and don't forget to put it back on before you take off again.

    • +1

      DRIVE WITH PROTECTION!

  • +3

Do they make these to fit an F/A-18E Super Hornet?

    • Nice of you to purchase one of our older jets.

      • +2

I prefer mine to land without spinning out of control and having to eject ;)

    • +3

I find it easier to park mine in a hangar, which I can also afford.

  • +3

Thanks, Op. got one. now to buy a car or I'm going to waste the $0.5 i spent on this

    • +1

start with a steering wheel (via ozb deal of course), then keep adding well-priced bits until you've built your own car

    • +1

You can try to sell it in facebook marketplace or gumtree for $1 and make some profit.

  • Do they fit suv as I got a steering wheel cover years ago more show than protection and it would not fit steering wheel I assume they are slightly bigger than a car steering wheel? Years on the steering wheel is starting to fall apart from the sun.

    • I would say so. I've fitted the same Kmart steering wheel cover (not sunshade) to over 10 different cars - fitted fine every time.

  • +4

    Asian parents will love these.

    • +4

gotta leave the plastic bag on though

  • +1

Also good for eating that sloppy lunch on the side of the road.

  • This popular item has sold out online

  • +1

i'm too cheap, i use old tshirts that i double as rags.

    • +2

      Bush mechanics…. It's on YouTube too :)

  • Need those umbrella type windshield shades

  • +3

Everything other than Streering Wheel Cover is discussed actively, I see. Nice afternoon, well spent.

  • order cancelled today….damn. I ordered 2 (1 for each car)
