Not sure if anything changed but don’t like these as much as I did a couple years ago. Too much of the wrap to meat ratio.
Bought a couple boxes from last sale and still in freezer.
always read labels for meat to "other stuff" percentages …..I noticed footy franks nolonger quote % of meat to filler .
Also check if the ingredients say “meat” as opposed to “chicken” or “pork” or some other actual animal.
Quality went down hill. I am quite sure you are not alone.
Sounds like much worse than before with the old packaging. In that case I will refer back to Costco or Asian Grocers
What is your favourite brand? or if you know what the packaging sorta looks like?
Have not bought any. Costco one also Mr Chan or Mr Chen
@neonlight: Nek minut Aldi has Mr Cheng

Yeah, weren't these 1KG bags not too long ago?
To top that off, they include the sauce as well in the package for the weight. so cut to 700g and including the sauce itself
Good point, the sauce is tasty but would rather not have it and have a few more dumplings for the price.
IIRC, only Woolworths sold the 1kg variant, Coles sold the 'Family Dumpling Pack 625g'.
Doing some maths on the Mr Chen Prawn Hargrow (using prices from previous sale):
Woolworths 1kg = $10.50 (when half price) = $1.05/100g - Appears WWS don't sell the 1kg variant anymore
Coles 700g = $8 (this deal) = $1.14/100g
Coles/Woolworths 300g = $3.75 (when half price) = $1.25/100g
Sauce probably weights 50 grams lol
@neonlight: I'm pretty sure they all come with sauce now.
@RichardL: Pretty sure you are wrong. If you read the packaging, it looks like only the hargow has sauce.
@random12: Comment was made before I edited the main post to include all variant on special.
'all' was only referring to Prawn Hargow.
On that note anyone know what happened to KBs prawn gyoza specials?
Are there any prawn dumplings around that use Australian prawns? Last time I checked, these and KB's and others all use Asian prawns
If they use australian prawns, trust me, most of us won't be able to afford it.
Perhaps, but some would buy them because of that fact, myself included
I love har gow but these taste like shit
These hardly taste like proper prawn, more like ginger 80% prawn 20% taste
The is dumpling skin is thick.
Went to a few Coles around me but all out of stock:( I am in Melbourne.
Bao and pork dumpling are less popular.
Can always ask for a raincheck (some employee will still do it for you, some will refuse).
I have found all employees at Coles will but not Woolies.
I would say 9/10 Coles employee will do a raincheck for you. Woolworths on the other hand, refused as they removed it during the start of COVID, and never brought it back.
@RichardL: Covid has been an excuse for many companies to stop doing things.
And there goes my new year's resolution. Yum
