On sale from Beelink is this budget Mini PC that's a great option if you're after a low power consumption PC, Linux box or a Raspberry Pi alternative. It uses the 15W Intel Celeron N5095 CPU with 4 cores/4 threads and can decode a lot of 4K, HDR and VP9 content thanks to the Intel UHD graphics.

Other features include Windows 11 Pro, 2x HDMI 2.0 with 4K@60Hz support, 8GB LPDDR4 RAM, 128GB M.2 SATA SSD, 2.5" SATA port for additional storage, 4x USB 3.1 Gen1 ports, 3.5mm audio jack, Gigabit Ethernet LAN, WiFi ac, Bluetooth 4.2, VESA mounting and actively cooled with a heatsink and fan.

For reviews Techtablets have covered the basics and ETA Prime the gaming/emulation. The two most notable downsides is that it uses M.2 SATA instead of M.2 NVMe and the replaceable RAM is Single Channel and not Dual Channel, so an upgrade to 16GB RAM is recommended. Given this is Beelink's budget mini pc this comes as no surprise.

The base model includes 8GB of RAM with 128GB storage and you can pay more for 8GB/256GB, 16GB/256GB and 16GB/512GB configurations.

              • @Clear: I Suppose soon we won't need GPUs, one less huge thing in the pc.

                • @Tollery: Until you encounter something like Star Citizen where your RAM timings are the key to smooth gameplay. Forget CPU overclocking.

                  • @Clear: Is that game anything like No man's sky?

                    • @Tollery: Certainly how NMS was in the beginning. Crowdsourced game going way over budget and time by the Elon Musk of gaming who is too much of a perfectionist and focusing on small details instead of the bigger picture.

Regardless still a fun super detailed game with ships and planets. Very demanding on your PC too.

                      • @Clear: When I fire up my gaming PC, I'll have a look at Star Citizen.

      • Maybe, but it would likely be with tweaked low settings. r/lowendgaming would have more information.

Obligatory Ozbargain comment: " this is crap, get a PC with an rtx4090 it's way faster than this "

  • Careful with the HDMI outputs, a Beelink Mini PC with Celeron I reviewed recently they don't do RGB at 4k60, only at 4k30. 4k60 it will only do YCbCr.

    • What is the difference between RGB and YCbCr? Will the colors be off or an issue with HDMI comparability?

What is the difference between RGB and YCbCr? Will the colors be off or an issue with HDMI comparability

They probably mean it is using chroma subsampling (beyond just not supporting RGB, which should be close in output when in 4:4:4 mode). Chroma subsampling mainly results in degraded text rendering and has some effect on colours, yes.

I don't think HDMI 1.4 supports HDR either, and that is likely what the Beelink is using given it doesn't support 4k@60Hz fully. 10-bit colour won't work either (even at 4k@30hz). That's a relatively minor issue, however.

tl;dr not ideal for recent TVs/monitors if you want full support

        • Thank you scix, I learned something new :)

      • Yes it's not ideal for displaying text and PC content. But acceptable for videos and games. With these Mini PCs the DP or USB-C ports have full RGB but HDMI do not. Just how they are…

        • Yeah, if it supports USB-C with DP-alt mode you should be able to get more substantial video output support (with a USB-C to HDMI 2.1 adapter). I assumed it was HDMI only, though.

  • Great description, thanks OP.

For use as a Pi replacement, can anyone recommend a USB GPIO dongle?

  • Wish there was something around this price point that had 3+ (Intel) NICs.

I'm working on a deal for one. There's an AliExpress sale kicking off at 7pm AEDT so I should be able to get a barebones for this much.

  • Wouldn't mind something like this, but I prefer a 3.5' internal hdd for storage/cost

What AC Power Plug do people recommend getting for this?
The listing only has EU, USA or UK plugs - none of which would work in Australia.

Or is it best just going to another seller on Aliexpress that can offer an AU Power Plug?

  • Anybody used one of these in a MAME/Arcade cabinet? I have two cabinets…. my main arcade cabinet is run on a much more modern and powerful PC but my older smaller cabinet is set up with the screen vertically and used solely for vertical orientation arcade games, it is running on an old but reliable Pentium 4 with 1GB RAM running Windows XP I think - god knows how old it is but it runs the classics like Pacman and Galaga etc fine. Wouldn't mind giving that cabinet an upgrade so it can play some more modern shoot em ups but don't want to spend a fortune on it, haven't been keen to go down the Rasp Pi route but a little PC like this might be the thing I need? Based on the ETA prime video linked earlier in the comments I think this would be a big step up on what is currently in there but interested to know others thoughts?

Also the AC power plug does concern me too… even if you pick a seller who supposedly provides AU plugs on AliExpress am I likely to get one or will it be some wobbly adapter type power unit that sparks, crackles and wobbles everytime I plug it in?

    • This is heaps of grunt for a mame box. Way more powerful than a pi.

  • If only this had thunderbolt and Wifi 6E it might have been worth it.

    • You're hilarious. At this price…
