I get a cooks knife, cut the apple into four then cut the core sections put using a V shaped cut on each quarter. It doesn’t take me long.

    • +15

Sounds like you could increase your apple cutting efficiency by about 500% with an apple divider

      • +5

How many apple sections are you realistically needing? A 500% efficiency increase on 30 seconds a week doesn’t seem like something to celebrate…

        • +21

You clearly don't have kids then or eat many apples. Call it 30 seconds saved per apple, at a capital cost of $10 and assuming you're paid at roughly the minimum wage of $22 an hour means you break even at roughly 50 apples. If you cut 2 apples a day it would break even within a month.

      • I don’t eat that many apples and I, already, have a surfeit of gadgets. I think I can wait 15s to eat an apple. :)

        • +1

Why do you need to wait?

Grab washed apple, open mouth, chomp. Done.

@TEER3X: I tried telling my 6 and a half year old that he's a big enough boy now to eat an apple by himself, but then he opened his mouth and reminded me about how half his teeth are missing and he's got 1 that is wobbly. So the knife it is for a while longer yet…

            • @bonezAU: I'm 40 with all my teeth (except wisdom teeth) and I still like my apple cut up. It tastes better.

    • +2

Yeah, it can be done with a knife without too much effort, but an apple cutter is next level easy. It's one of the few single purpose gadgets that genuinely are useful in the kitchen. I can core and cut an apple in about 5 seconds, which if you have to cut a lot of apples for school lunches and snacks really adds up.

      • +1

Yup, if you do a lot of apples I can see there might be a use. However, have you thought of getting your kids to eat the apple around the core. I would be worried the apples might go brown once they are cut.

        • +2

Eh, they would rather eat brown apples than have to bite in to them. I've tried hasn't times getting to get them to actually eat close to the core and concluded it's impossible. Besides, my eldest has no front teeth so i feel a bit bad watching her struggle with apples, not to mention they don't quite fit in most lunch boxes without cutting.

          • @Ezuku: Just some suggestions, but it sounds like this is the implement for you. Hope your kid’s teeth come through soon.

        • +3

Little bit of lemon juice on them keeps them from browning, adds a lil bit of flavour too

    • +1

I make 4 vertical cuts down, around the core. Then I slice them up into thin potato chip slices. Yes, I'm an adult.

  • +14

Thanks, bought 10 to increase my cutting efficiency by 5000%, or the equivalent of 150 seconds a week.

    • +1

At ~$30/hr you should make it back in about 80 weeks, or just over 18 months.

I've purchased this before. It works really well :)

    • It does cut your apples!

  • Ok hear me out here. Eat entire apple including the core but just not the stem. Anyone?

    • Not the seeds if you're a bigger apple eater - arsenic.

      • +1

You have to eat tens of thousands of seeds for that to be a problem. The average apple contains something like ten seeds.

      • I thought it was cyanide?

        • Both and more.

    • You eat the core?

      • Oh yes!

        • Went through a phase of doing this in high school.

Maybe I was hungry or maybe it was meant to be a weird flex. Can’t remember.

  • Highly rate this one, picked it up last time it was at
    Or around this price.

    • I magically had a $10 promo credit but was too slow to buy as it had sold out already. I was double checking if the credit could be uses on someone I actually needed first. I'm regretting now
