Item doesn't post to you (WA)

    • Excludes Perth Metro, WA Regional and WA Remote

      • +33

They're not a fan of Western Australia.
        They've taken a stand.

        • I'll see myself out
        • it's a sign

        • +5

I'm blown away by that pun

    • +1

Try Mobileciti eBay. Can’t seem to see if WA is excluded

    • Damn!

    • It seems to now

  • New to IoT devices, what are some of the use cases for a smart enabled fan? Thank you

    • +1

Pre cool a room before you get home
      Timer / scheduling
And my favourite - control fan without getting out of bed or needing line of site (like IR remote style does)

    • Turn it on and off without getting off your ass. Time it to turn off at 3am when you know your room will finally start to cool after a hot day.

    • Use voice to control the fan

      • +2

Voice controls don't work with this one, bought one off Ozb and found out the hard way :(

        • ? Doesn't the Viomi fans get controller by Xiaomi Home (Mi Home) app? That supports linking to google home and Alexa and I assume (haven't checked) Apple Homekit too. Or am I mistaken?

          • +2

@Felixrising: App control works fine, but associating the app to Alexa (from what I've tried) is the failing point. I asked in the last Ozb post for this Viomi Smart Fan in the comments, looks like no one else could get it hooked up either.

Can't speak for Google Home or Homekit though.

            • @daowiies: When I was googling, I found the Viomi FAQ for Alexa specifically, but no mention of the other two. I have the Xiomi home all integrated with my google home and that bit works well (ie wife uses it without complaint).

        • Can confirm, doesn't link to Google home or Alexa, haven't managed to get it working in HA either but I didn't try that hard

          • @ToobsAU: Actually this hass integration claims to support it, I'll give it a go later
            https://github.com/al-one/hass-xiaomi-miot

            • @ToobsAU: If you have a broadlink, you can replicate the remote on the app and this will link with Google Home.

I don't have an iPhone so not sure whether this hardware work around will work.

              • @triplezzb: I do but the fan gets moved around a lot and the RM4 Pro is in the lounge room controlling the TV, AC and the ceiling fans/lights in the bedrooms… I'll try getting it to work with HA again once I get a second one from this deal

  • hows this compare to this fan https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/747191

    • +1

The model specs: Viomi is 20Watt vs 35Watt for the Kogan.
Supposedly both DC motor so likely Kogan has more powerful motor and blows harder. (pun, no pun)

      • But this deal is $50, $39 cheaper than Kogan's.

    • +1

Kogan uses 40cm blade, Viomi uses 35cm blade

    • I have the kogan one and it's super powerful and very quiet on low speeds.

  • +7

Bought this for 69. I'm enjoying the position.

  • +1

I took the cage off a pedestal fan when I was younger, I thought it would increase the airflow or whatever. However, my housemate's dopey girlfriend helped prove to me why they come with a cage.

    • They are not hair friendly.

    • …w-w-what happened?

  • It comes with a remote controller. I bought one from Aldi last time.

  • +1

Thanks. Been looking at this a few times it's popped up. For this price can't hurt!

  • Well done you win just bought this for $59. Thought I should post it… beaten.

  • Why do I still see it for $100 and not $50? :(

    • +1

You have to go to checkout and then apply the code.

  • +2

Whats the height? Is it adjustable?

    • +2

Not very tall (highest point just above my waist) and it is not adjustable, but the fan can be tilt until facing ceiling.

  • Does this work with the xiaomi app?

    • Yep

    • Yes, but differences layout than mifan.

      • Can all functions be controlled?

        • +1

Most, I think except manual turning fan direction from the app, sound, light ect. I also think mifan ui layout is more user friendly.

  • +1

Thanks OP bought 2 for the house

  • Local Aldi had marked down to $42.

I was going to buy a couple but the box feels really light. What's the quality like?

    • Not as good as premium DC fan that cost around $100 (eg. Mifan). I will say just slightly better than $20 Kmart fan (this just more speed and features).

    • Don't suppose you got a photo I could use for a price protection claim?

I got a few from Aldi, but ended up only keeping one. I have the Xiaomi Smartmi Fans which I'm comparing against so not sure if I'm biased but basically:
They are even shorter than the Xiaomi, there is no voice assistant integration and the app control is fairly basic. On/off, speed, oscillation on/off. Can't set the angle or nudge the fan left and right in app like you can with the Xiaomi.
While my Xiaomis cost more, they have a battery which comes in quite handy when you need to use the fan temporarily somewhere without having to worry about plugging in. The Xiaomi is also a little quieter on minimum speed (to my ears). Xiaomi feels just a little better built also.

Only reason I kept one was for the 180 degree oscillation and vertical position when want to use more like a circulator.

  • OOS already! Crap

    • +4

      Ninjabuy still has stock :)

      • +1

Thanks! Just saw that, picked one up :)

    • Try ninja buy instead of IoT

  • Apparently this doesn’t come with a remote control, is that correct? Can any owners kindly confirm? Thanks!

    • +2

It does come with remote. My local Aldi still had some from pre-Xmas, and I picked one up the other day (still $69). Our requirement was mainly for sleeping and it works well for that: quiet on lowest 2 speeds, remote control, and also a timer function. Height is not adjustable if that matters. The head tilts from horizontal to pointing at the roof, if you want to use it in winter for trying to create a convection current.

It's very light and seems flimsy, but works well so far and I'm happy with it. Only negative is the WI-FI light is pretty bright at night. Haven't tried covering it yet. Installation is a little different than the manual shows, as the head is already assembled, so you have to disassemble it to attach it to the unit. Took me ages to realise the way to separate the two halves of the head are to rotate one half. Smh.

      • Is it a relatively quiet fan?

        • +2

Yep. Everyone is different, but I found the lowest 2 speeds quiet enough to sleep with it fairly close to you. Obviously only enough size/power for one person.

  • +4

It's worth adding "DC" to title. Much better than AC.

    • What's the better in that ? Low Noise ?

  • And gone 🙄
    Edit —> available again

  • +1

Does it work with Alexa and Google.

  • +1

Thanks op. Perfect timing as I needed 2. Cheers!

  • +3

Brought two from Aldi - setup it up thought something wrong here. The Maximum height is barely higher than a common desktop fan. The highest speed is slow as - would not recommend. So return straight back to Aldi for full refund. Maybe that is why Aldi has discount them so quick.

Brought this instead https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-premium-dc-motor-pedestal… for $89 - seem kogan has jacked the price up to $109

    • What else did you bry?

  • +1

I bought this recently, fan speed is good and works fine with app, but i have 2 issues:

    1. Height is not adjustable and the height is bit on the lower side for my usage
    2. The swing is dam slow and swing speed is not adjustable. So buy only if you have a non swinging usage
  • Never heard of this brand, is it a good one?

Also I’m guessing this doesn’t use much electricity?

    • It's rated at 20w

      • Sorry missed that
But is it a good brand?

        • Viomi is a sub-brand of Xiaomi. They make very reliable vacuum cleaners and other home small appliances that are regularly on bargain in this forum.

  • Scummed to ozbargin pressure and ordered one. Makes me think if ebay will actually honor these orders?

  • +2

I'm going to use this to cool my next PC project's 1080mm (9x120mm) radiator… Efficient and much cheaper than connecting 9 individual fans. I'm going to find a way to make this shorter using power tools.

  • Damn you ozbargain… Bought one for the corner of my son's room.

  • Am I reading this right? It's cordless? What?

There's gotta be a cord right, this shit will not last throughout the night.

    • it is corded, no way it is cordless.

      • Thanks Chief .

  • How do you power this if no chord? is it rechargeable battery

    • That's what I'm curious about

  • How come coupon code JANHNG discount $50 for a $100 item? Does eBay screw up again?

  • +2

I bought two before for about 69$, this is my third one, I really liked the fan for being quiet. One of the fans also took a fall and survived, so I think they're well-built. Cleaned them with a vacuum. I am a big fan, control them with the app. It's magic.

    • Does it have a cord?

      • +1

Of course, it comes with a 12v adapter, you plug the adapter pin to the base, it's a DC fan 😂

        • Sorry I am a retard.

  • got mine from last deal as a combo deal, so far for the fan itself, it has been great.
almost dont need to turn on my air con except during hot afternoon.
during night this is awesome, just perfect amount of breeze (mine is at 6%), 0 noise, and no more air con during the night

  • Why so many people are after DC Fan ?

    • Quieter, can generates natural breeze.

    • +1

Bon Scott passed away many moons ago unfortunately, so many AC fans have moved on to DC fans

  • Great fan, I've got one from a previous deal and was waiting for another good deal. Thanks so much, this blows it out of the water!

This time of year the fan is 'always on', I just adjust the speed to suit. Right now, 28 degree day, runs at 10% and uses just 2W.

  • Very good timing, my son just broke the Kmart one, bought my third Viomi fan and one Xiaomi, Xiaomi is better but for $50 this is good.

    • "Estimated delivery Tue 24 Jan - Tue 31 Jan"

Oh …. not very good timing.
