For a $500+ DSLR, this is a very good deal for beginners.

  • Agreed. I've got a D5100 with a Tamron 25-300mm len - that was around $900 from DWI. The kogan deal is good if you don't mind the lens (ie mostly closeup or landscape shots, no zoom)

    Grey imports… I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole.

  • Cheaper at DWI

  • Need to put delivery into the title.
$29 to Sydney making it $608 all up.
And as Snail said above, it's cheaper at DWI $583 (with express courier and shipping insurance option $601.74)
Only benefit with Kogan is possibly warranty will be easier as it's dealt with an Australian company?

Got the same for $700 at JB HiFi Warringah last Thursday. Was aware of the Kogan deal but decided to go ahead believing an extra $92 is good value for 1) immediate pick-up; and 2) 2 years Nikon warranty rather than 1 year from Kogan (?!). Not sure if this is the correct decision but happy to share my view with you guys.

    • well played

    • The warranty headache is worth the $92!

  • How does this camera compare with the Olympus E-PM1 twin lens?

    • Bigger, but better. Will have better image quality (especially lower light), and, for fast moving subjects like sports/young kids, better auto focus.

But, if portability is a consideration, E-PM1 is good value these days. Just be aware, Olympus are rumoured to release a new range of Pen models soon which should blow the E-PM1 out of the water.

  • Now they have reduced the price futhermore. $569+shipping
