not sure if it's changed now but last time I was on qantas flight I used the stock airline one vs these Bose ones and the loud hiss on the background noticeably disappeared with the Bose ones - not sure if it's different circuitry but was surprised that different adapters can make a difference!
Yeah theres a big difference in quality that I never realised. My Belkin 3.5mm cables gave me a hissing sound whereas Sony cables dont have that problem.

Too late now but these are fine for Zoom/Skype etc. I use these daily with an hour + chat with my wife via Messenger, as well as phone calls and meeting etc. The quality is great for most uses and people have no issues hearing me etc.
A steal at that price, i paid $320 or so last year (off memory) and was very happy with that price for what I got!

Is there a reason to use the adaptor? Every flight I've been on you could just plug into one of the holes and my headset would work fine.
From memory the holes on airplanes have right and left audio channel coming from separate holes. The adapter combines the two to a single stereo jack.
You can plug in a stereo plug into either of the plane holes, but then you get only left or right channel audio playing in both left and right ears.

XM5 doesn't have a mute button to mute the mic during calls. If you can stand that, and money is not an issue, then go with XM5. This one is 3 years old

I’ve only owned Bose QC35’s before which I found super comfortable.
