    thicc mouse

  • Perfect for resting palm while werkin

  • I bought this mouse few years ago. I hated it from day one. The track ball is in a weird spot where it is least ergonomic. I have not used it ever since.
If you really want a track ball mouse, get Kensington mouse. I have been using it for nearly 12years now and it has never missed a beat.
Once you get used to it, you will not use a scrolling wheel mouse ever again. If anyone is interested in trackball mouse, it’s called “ Kensington Expert Mouse Wired Trackball” if you after wireless one it’s called “Kensington Expert Mouse Wireless Trackball”. I own both of them.

    • I have this and i like it, just sometimes feel pain on the base of my thumb so i stop using it

      • I had that pain initially when switching to the trackball. Went to my GP and said it's because I'm over using the thumb suddenly and need to strengthen. Simple exercise in the shower daily for a week and it's all good.

The exercise I was told to do is raise the arm above the head when in the shower, and do a pinching motion with the thumb + 4 other index (thumb to index, thumb to middle etc). 2 sets, 10 times each finger. Hope this helps and you can enjoy the mouse more.

Also, this mouse is great for WFH on the couch and the TV is your monitor!

          Agree the mouse is great!

    • The expert has the ball in the middle? That is like mine from the 80s! I took a day or two to get used to the thumb ball, but I must say I prefer logitech now. I do like the ring to scroll, thats nice. I could see me using it for video editing, the ring as scrub and the button for in / out points etc. Although the scroll wheel on the logitech could be programmed to do that too. If I'm doing much editing video, I use a ShuttlePRO. It's just well set up for it, although there are newer options too.

The Kensington would be fine for general browsing and even mounting in an info kiosk, but I think for word and photo editing, the extra speed of simultaneously touching ball / LMB / RMB with the logitech is a winner and worth retraining your brain. The main advantage of the kensingtons larger centre ball it the ability to slap spin the ball when you want to get to the top corner quickly. I guess it comes down to personal choice and usage. A bit like how grapho's love those drawing tablet pad things.

I still have nightmares about cleaning hair and dust and stuff out of my trackball mouse in the 80s. Why the heck would i want a trackball now?? Lol.

That's like saying: I remember how slow acoustic modems were in the 80's that's why I refuse to use NBN nowadays (google acoustic modems kids, you will laugh). LOL! My trackball in the 80's had a white billiard ball in it. It was brilliant but it did catch stuff. I have multiple of these logitech ones and never had hair or food stuck in them. Ball pops out easily in these modern ones and any build up on the sliders is easily flicked off with a fingernail or if you want to fancy you could use a cotton bud. I do it maybe once every 3-6 months.

Fair enough! Apart from "no flat surface needed" What are the other advantages? Maybe i should suck it up and try one.

I use this mouse and I wouldn’t say it’s superior than a regular mouse, it’s about the same with different trade offs. Another thing I like about it is the mouse never has to move. This means I need less space on the table dedicated to the mouse and no mousepad is required. Cleaning isn’t a big deal, I do it about once a month and it takes roughly 2 minutes to do.

Trackball is good for RSI - if a mouse causes you issues, you can negate them with a trackball.

I am a long time Logitech trackball mouse user, and actually prefer the M575 over this (I have both).

I have three of these. One for home and my two office locations. Have terrible wrist pain if i use a normal mouse for even 10 minutes. Highly recommend. Only negative is cleaning the rollers but that's a one a week thing and is super simple

I have the non-tilting M575 - actually about 4 of them. Love them. Took a day to get my brain using it without it feeling weird, then it's so natural. Use on train, planes and in bed. No flat surface needed. Love em.

  • Long time M570 and MX Ergo user. I prefer the MX570/575 over the Ergo as the hole on the bottom is bigger. On the M570 I can pop the ball out very quickly with my little finger but with the MX Ergo I have to pop the base off and use a pen or similar to pop the ball out. M570 is better for travel as it's so much lighter and uses 1 AA.

At home the MX Ergo lives on the desk, but for work two M570s live on the desk and in the backpack.

The MX Ergo has a disgusting rubberised coating which started to perish and get manky after heavy use far sooner than I expected. Still goes good but it looks festy.

Would love to see a M575 deal to replace my most clapped out M570, the ball falls out when I take it out of my backpack and invariably rolls somewhere inconvenient.

Mines a few years old and still in perfect condition. I wonder if it’s the material reacting to the oil on hands ? Or a hand cream or something ?

  • Thanks OP. Scored a pricematch at officeworks. I'm liking this device!
