You made me excited for a minute. I was looking for Bissell Pro Heat 2 x Revolution Pet 2066F

    • Is that more suited for pets? My dogs hair is every where and a normal dyson vacuum isn't cutting it

    • TGGC has it for 440, which is not bad and almost history low according to ozbargain search results.

      • Just bought it today from TGGC for $440

    • I have that and it's amazing. Cleaning it is a pain, but since it's not used often, it's fine.

  • Are these any good compared to the ones at Bunnings or coles?

Probably need a better model. Bissell do make excellent carpet washers though, I had a an upgraded one and it worked as well as the rentals.

      • How much upgrade is it?

"For a whole-home carpet clean, simply empty the Dirty Water Tank and refill the Clean Water Tank as required" LOL.

These are good for a small spill, spot clean only. Nothing more.

Unsure what makes you think that mate - I've owned this model for a year now and it did a great job cleaning the white carpet in my home.

I've been cleaning carpets professionally for 10 years…the suction alone on this would be terrible…let alone if you check the specs 2.36ltr water holder and a 1.6ltr dirty water holder…that's terrible.

You may think it did a great job, but done with good chemicals and a professional truck mounted machine the difference would be enormous.

Yet if you're happy with result then that's great.

Value for money it will do what you pay for..

Here's a link to me emptying the tank for a large 4x5m room. Trust me the Bissel doesn't flush this amount of water through or suck up the same amount. This is a deep clean.

    • Any vacuums you’d recommend for a decent sized house (five bedder, half of which is carpet)?

    • How about Bissell Pro Heat 2 x Revolution Pet 2066F. Is it a better choice if you are thinking of doing 3 bedroom carpets?

@BigBucko I had my carpet cleaned back in January 2021 (hot water extraction) and was very disappointed with the results. My wife convinced me to call the chain to complain and they sent the same operator back. He ended up spot treating three stains and then cleaned these areas again which helped but still left visible stains. When I first used this Bissell in December 2021 on these areas, the stain was completely removed (required multiple passes of course).

I ended up doing a clean of the carpet in my study today to show everyone that this machine (and Bisell's formula) is quite capable - see the pictures below.

The whole room has had one cleaning pass at minimum but I've done the significant stain spot and trail four times and ensured that the significant stain spot and trail were thoroughly wet each time. Hot water was used (57 C) which is what Bisell recommend anyway (max 60 C).

I used the slightly more expensive Bisell Pro formula ($17 from Good Guys Commercial btw) and worked it in each time, with my hand, then letting it sit for 5 minutes before using the cleaner to remove the water.

After (one pass over the whole room, four passes over the significant stain spot and trail - the carpet isn't completely dry in these photos either - I'll also be doing another spot clean tomorrow)

Please note - the carpet is slightly damaged from my office chair which is why it looks rough in the centre spot near the desk.

Small sample of dirty water extracted on the fourth clean (the cleaning formula is clear):

And yes, insert crack about my messy desk and lack of cable management ;)

Hi, firstly great job on the clean. Looks great.

Do best to answer, help out, opinion. Remember just mine. Every operator is completely different, uses different machines, different chemicals and charges are always different. Only thing I will say that always best to get 2-3 quotes and ask what type of clean full deep steam clean with truck mounted machine….steam clean portable machine….top clean sometimes called a dry clean / encapsulation.

So original clean could vary mainly to two things…A) Machine used B) Operator.

A good machine but used by someone who really doesn't care (chain operator usually hire a guy on a wage, he wants in and out, not all though), where an independent does care as relies on repeat customers, again some are different. Really is a catch 22. Like most though if find someone who does a good job, stick with them.

Looking at carpet you stain and trail as you call are actually what we just call high traffic areas, Usually where people enter any room of carpet of a hard floor. Usually near doors obviously and also under desks or where feet are in a lounge from sitting in the same chair every night watching tv.

These are the hardest to clean or get it looking like the rest of the room, look behind any door and carpet usually like the day it was put in be 2, 5 or 10 years ago, brand new. Cleaning these high traffic areas is hard, not always due to the dirt but the wear.

Anyhow, a full truck mount machine will do a full deep high temp (170* degree, my machine, can go higher) clean. Now what this does is clean the whole strand of the pile top to bottom, this shows up the high traffic more as most of these areas the strand are worn. and the color has faded in the carpet. Where a machine like the Bissell only cleans the top few millimeters of the strand, this can be shown by the amount of water drawn out as per your picture.

So if you imagine a matchstick the Bissell just cleans the head of the match thus covering up the bottom half of the matchstick/strand. Makes sense i hope. This is why some carpets are best not deep cleaned but top cleaned like what Chemdry do….this is called encapsulation and just cleans the top of the carpet pile, works best on white or light coloured carpets. Only issue i have with this it that it does not in my view get all the dirt out, where a full steam clean does and is way more hygienic.

Following that the dirty water is great, proves machine works but so little of it shows that it's just cleaning the top of the pile.

I do like how you have let the stain remover dwell, just be aware that not to let it dwell to long, may bleach. Also try to even it out when applying. Also some of these cleaning agents are very strong and I personally have no issue in watering them down a bit.

Some stains from deep cleans do return. Imagine spilling a cup of coffee, if not attended to the coffee seeps through the carpet into the underlay. An operator can over wet the carpet stain then then clean and looks good but has not dried the carpet enough ie one pass. as the carpet is still wet the original stain coffee in the underlay then seeps up back in to the carpet normally over a few hours. We call this drawing back up. Thus this is why some stains return and a top clean is better.

Hope this help. All my thoughts. Thanks

        • Appreciate the extra information mate and see your point that the operator's equipment and their skill/care would also come into it.

Obviously having light coloured carpet isn't the best idea if you're concerned about stains and dirt showing but I have heard that steam cleans can at times be a bad thing as it can permanently set stains in carpet. What's your view on that?

          • @akyeeeahdude: When people say set stains it just mean in my opinion the stain wasn't treated soon enough.

I've had a guy spill whole curry on the evening and I got there next morning and you could tell what had happen once I had cleaned it. On the flip coin a lady spilt a pot of tea, told us 2 weeks later and no good, advised get a rug :)

            The big substance are:

Blood…only cold water or you will set this. There is a protein spray but I try use that as last resort.

Then you have your juices, red wines, coffee, teas and then many bright stuff like make up. These have be done asap to have any chance, but even I don't promise.

Best are your general black dirt, mud, oil and greases. These are a lot easier than the above.

General rule of thumb is act fast. Dilute, extract, dilute, extract and repeat. Then just flush with water a few times.

Finally not all marks come out, they just don't. But try explaining that to the customer. I'm a carpet cleaner who always gives 100%, not a magician ;)

            Thanks
