Tasman Meats (15 locations in Victoria including regional) have specials every week that are usually pretty good; this fortnights special on lamb is especially good if you ask me. I just grabbed a rack of the rib eye, roasted it in a massively hot oven for 5 minutes a side to brown it, then into the slow cooker for 5 hours on low, and it was awesome, nearly fell off the bones when I pulled it out of the slow cooker. Bon appetit. (Rib eye is Scotch Fillet on the bone http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rib_eye_steak)

The beef is always yearling though for all their cuts, I find it relatively tasteless.
Yeah, I normally wouldn't post Tasman Meats, but these prices are especially awesome.
so what is the saving from their normal price for these?
All you seem to do on this website is to ask inane questions about bargains that others post. http://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/14180 How about you do some work for a change and ring them and ask what their regular prices are. I don't know what the saving is - and I don't care!
Sorry but your question is not really answerable.
Meat fluctuates in pricing constantly, there is no what is the normal price guide. The normal price is higher than these prices, yes, but it depends on stock supply, demand etc.
That's great tell them to open in Sydney please :)
LOVE Tasman meats, they're just around the corner from my house and easily best place to buy meat from around here (that I know of). It's not just the price it's also the quality that is good. :)
Usually 25% of my plate is sourced from Tasman :P
you should cut down on your veggies then
Nah. Eating a high % of vegetables keeps me lean ;)
They really need something remotely close to the Northern Suburbs!
$5.99 for lamb roast is almost worth going to Victoria for.
Just had the Rib Eye from Tasman meats for dinner last night. Seared both sides on a hot pan then put it in the oven for 20 mins, came out juicy, tender and delicious.
The Lamb's heaps cheaper then VicMarket ($10-12/kg), alas the Rib Eye isn't ($13-15/kg)
The Vic Market has excellent prices on meat; unfortunately it's a long drive for most into the city, and when you factor in the time it takes to complete the round trip of getting there, parking, shopping, and returning home, it's not always worthwhile. It's ok if you freeze the meat, but personally I hate freezing meat as you lose so much moisture when you thaw and cook it. I posted this deal knowing that it's not for everyone.
Yep, Tasman rocks. Should be standard stuff for any real Ozbargainer :)
