  • Nice find, 3 metres by 750mm is a decent size too.

  • Shame theres nothing darker available as I'm needing to do my car soon.

    • I don’t think you would want bad quality tint

Pls note, Doesnt have an adhesive, read reviews..

    • Yup. And reviews are terrible.

This was the first positive review shown to me: "Haven't used yet, but looks perfect for the job in mind.”

      • +4

i don't understand people who write reviews for products they haven't used or gifted to someone else.

        • +1

The most useful of all, are the reviews that say something like "Courier didn't deliver my parcel for a week, and then when it finally arrived a piece had been stolen!!!!! 1 star."

Like… what do those people even think we should do with that information πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈπŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈπŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ

          • @Nom: oh i hate those, too. it's as if they're incapable of realising that merchants can't control what goes on with postal/courier services.

I have not bought this, however, do believe that all window tint film have an adhesive backing. You need to peel off the clear film before applying it to glass. I bought a long roll on eBay a while back and thought the same thing when i started to install it - it took effort to peel the clear film off…

some thoughts when i did my own tinting back in 2013…couldn't find a reputable window tinter so i looked online, watched some videos and decided to buy some 3M tint that was pre-cut for my specific vehicle. except the seller sent me pre-cuts for a newer model of my car where the window shape was a bit different. turns out they didn't have the specfic set for my car in stock so it was either get a refund or use it anyway.

i chose the latter. the film had an adhesive backing. a kit of varying squeegees, pry tools and a tiny bottle of baby shampoo was included. the idea is you dilute it and spray it onto the glass to make moving the piece of film around possible until you get the location just right. because my windows were frameless, it was easier but since i was doing this outdoors (had no choice), some dust was getting inbetween the film and glass as well as lint from the felt-lined seal where the door card meets the glass. couldn't get all of it out, and it was mostly at the bottom so after much swearing, i called it good enough and did the other window.

having an extra pair of hands helps. failing that, mini clamps are your friend. i was pretty happy overall with my attempt, not bad for a noob. just got to remember to NOT wind down your windows for several days to allow the adhesive to bond properly. it's almost 10 years and my tint job is still holding up. the little air bubbles i have here and there aren't getting any bigger/worse and honestly, you wouldn't notice them while driving.

but tl;dr only install your own tint if you absolutely have to and you've got heaps of time. this isn't something you want to rush. and make sure it's good quality film. there's heaps of cheaper alternatives but 3M is the best.

  • What does it cost to get your car windows tinted these days?

I suspect the tint job would be more than what my car is actually worth
