I can't compare but I'm just taking this opportunity to say that I've had my FO48U for about 6 months as the "TV" in my living room connected to my gaming PC and I've been absolutely loving the heck out of it.
Got it for $1100 from Umart, found on OzBargain. Very happy with it at that price.
Same, easily the best monitor I’ve ever used and it was a killer price to boot. No issues with the size.
This or the aw3423dw?
Both
You've convinced me!
Now you just need to convince the wife
@MaccDogg: She's not the boss of me!
@jaygee: Haha cute
@MaccDogg: Just got off the phone with her she’s convinced
@Believ3r: Woah she's a keep XD
Seriously though, different use case and performance requirements to consider when choosing 4k vs UW. With 4k requiring higher specs to run, go with what you prefer most.
Had the 38 and it doesn’t suit me because I’d run my console on it and it doesn’t support ultrawide
aw3423dw for sure. You get 3 year burn in warranty
Can you split the screen on this so that windows treats each zone as a separate monitor?
For a 48” you’d need at least 1M seated away from the monitor. 42” is a much more usable size
42" C2 has been around $1200 - $1300 too. Makes more sense IMO, and comes with a better panel right?
Ultragear can do 138Hz vs 120Hz on the C2 but they are basically identical except for one feature, that is BFI, which is not available on the Ultragear. BFI on the C2 is limited to 60Hz though, where it takes a massive brightness hit and flickers very noticeably on a bright screen. BFI is only truly great on the C1 where it can be used at 120Hz which only has a minor hit to brightness and flicker is almost indiscernible while looking absolutely crystal clear in motion.
Running 4k at 120hz is already super tough let alone 138hz.
Don’t attempt to play competitive FPS at 48”, seriously.
@xenoic: Depends on the game, if you can turn FOV up and sit closer to the screen it's equivalent to a smaller screen at 1440p but with more peripheral vision, which is great. Warzone is a game that comes to mind.
@cheng2008: IMHO, there are a few issues:
1) hardware grunt to pump out 120fps and beyond at 4K
2) FOV at 48” with low mouse sensitivity is gonna be hard. Even looking at the minimap on the top left is gonna hurt your neck.
@xenoic: 1's not too bad, my 3080 does MW2/WZ2 at over 4k 120 with medium settings and DLSS quality. $1000 on a video card should be enough. 2 Dunno, I honestly have no issues with sensitivity or looking at the minimap tbh.
@xenoic: I run games at 4K 120Hz on my C1 with a 6700 XT without much difficulty. They are less demanding games though… like Persona 5 Royal and Halo Master Chief Collection. With games like Forza Horizon 5 I need to drop the settings to a mix of medium/high to get it above 100fps. It really just depends on which game you're playing and willing to drop settings on more demanding games.
It is now not 1200ish. Looking forward to the deal again.
92 PPI, not great for that price
42" C2 is better for desktop usage.
Not really, you'd want something like Dell U4021QW which is 5120 x 2160
Completely different monitor
That's a productivity oriented monitor. Its gamut is limited to sRGB, brightness only goes up to around 300 nits and it lacks VRR as well.
How are these vs FO48U?
