Alright thanks. Probably not worth wasting 1 hours 40 minutes just to see John Leguizamo say "Let's a Go!".
It's worth investing 1 hour 40 just to hear that first Goombaaaaaa
Your counter point is distinguished and persuasive.
Lord of The Rings. Extended edition.
"Lord of The Rings. Extended edition."
I remember LOTR was already pushing 3 hours. Is the extended edition even longer??
I actually don't mind this option because I have only seen LOTR once.
Wait, you think there's only one movie??
The theatrical version The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring is 178 minutes long, or 2 hours and 58 minutes.
The theatrical version of The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers is 179 minutes long, or 2 hours and 59 minutes.
Finally, the theatrical version of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King is a hefty 200 minutes long, or 3 hours 20 minutes.
All told, the theatrical version of the trilogy runs 557 minutes. But what about the extended editions?
The extended edition of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring is 208 minutes long, or 3 hours and 28 minutes.
The extended edition of The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers is 223 minutes long, or 3 hours and 43 minutes long.
The extended edition of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King is a honking 251 minutes, or 4 hours and 11 minutes long.
That’s a total of 682 minutes. 11 and a half hours of excellence.
Thank you for all that info!!
I don't know which one I have seen though. I am thinking it's the theatrical version because I remember 3 hours specifically.
But yes a dangerous choice, because at the end of 1 I will likely want to also watch 2 and 3 in the following days.
I vaguely remember watching the first one. And I think I have seen 2 and 3 at some point but almost passively because it was not by myself and I don't remember anything from them other than the big final war scene with the bad dude Sauron?
@n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: @blacksmithnpc Did you end up watching LOTR?
By the way don't think of them as one movie and two sequels. It's a continuous story told over 3 films. You can't really stop at one.
@FezMonkey: Not for xmas. But I plan to watch them. They weren't even on my radar until switchblade suggested them.
Do you know why they didn't just fly on the Eagles

Yeah, but from memory the credit sequences take around 20 minutes for each movie, so skipping that is saving an hour of your life.

Noted.
Is the extended edition even longer??
I mean… it would be misleading to have an extended edition be shorter…
Yeah I get you. But typically extended cut means some very minor shots were added to the film so turns out like only 3 minutes extra total or something. There are times they add whole scenes which adds like 20 minutes but this is typically not common because it messes things up and upsets people.
Pretty surprised actually with LOTR 3 they managed to add 50 minutes worth to the extended cut.
I'm more of a Benny Hinn fan for this time of year.
Televangelist?
Nah sorry. I would rather give my time to Carlos from bitconnect.
Wait for the 4K blu ray.
Even as an 11 year old I had no interest in this film when it came out. Don't do it op.
Yeah I was thinking more of watching it just for the memes, wasn't going to go into it expecting a proper film lol.
Don't do it, it's trash… Get some real Christmas movies into you… I watched Spirited, Elf and Bad Santa this week with the daughter and we just finished watching the original Die Hard tonight (A Jake Peralta favorite…) Tomorrow it will be Fat Man and the new season of Letterkenny (if it's out).
But one person's trash is another's?
I watched Elf to death. I laughed my ass off at Bad Santa when I was a teen, probably won't have the same effect on me now so I want to keep my good memory of that.
Yeah Die hard is a xmas classic.

It still has a few good laughs in it as an adult.
Bad Santa this week with the daughter
A true kids Christmas movie :)
the new season of Letterkenny
Think SBS is getting it on the 28th
The Santa clause. Always the best classic films.
Nah.
Home Alone or Die Hard for this time of year instead.
