It's only bluetooth and not wifi like the one in this deal.
dunno why 2.4g wifi on a thermometer is more beneficial than 100m Bluetooth range. if you're over 100m away you aren't exactly cooking anymore.
100m theoretical range. I had the BT version and the range wouldn't cut it through the house from the backyard with lots of brick and plaster in between. Wifi model has been solid and on those long 12 hour cooks, a quick run down to the local for more beer is much less stressful!
@Squirta: sure can understand the need for wifi when your house is a dungeon with no windows but lets be real if you want to risk leaving your 12 hour cook when you're close to temp just for a beer being on wifi makes no difference.
If only it actually worked over 100m, the bluetooth device doesn't even work from the kitchen to my bedroom or bbq area. Not interested in burning food because the lousy bluetooth connection dropped out and the app didn't notify the temp is reached.
So i can say the opposite, why bother with a protocol you need to be close enough to just look a the display?
Carry case package still available, just put in my order. Thanks OP
I tried this, but found myself going back to my trusty old Bluetooth one, the battery (non-replaceable) eventually stopped recharging after 2yrs. The thermometer wasn't as accurate (I'd get different readings using the same probe in different slots (sometimes 2°c).
