I highly recommend these tongs over the usual ones most people have in their kitchens because:

1) they have legs so the tips avoid touching surfaces
2) they don't get grease and food trapped in the middle part of each tong which is hard to clean
3) they are dishwasher safe
4) they have a lock mechanism to save space

Only downside is don't leave them on very hot surfaces as they can melt but they are totally fine in a dishwasher.

  Thanks OP, those little feetsies fix my one true gripe with tongs, was going to go with the OXO ones listed further up but those feet.

  I have this and the spring mechanism isn’t as ‘strong’ as I would like it. Hand gets tired using it for a prolonged time. It’s OK to use it to serve the occasional salad on the table.

  Bought a cuisipro one and never looked back - very sturdy locking mechanism.
