Travel will be free onboard all South East Queensland bus, train, ferry and tram services on New Year's Eve from 8pm until 5.30am on New Year's Day.

  Only true for the trains. Bus, ferry and tram services are paid by the relevant local councils, so the people receiving the benefits are paying through their rates bill.
