    • @samvo - I have the pxc blade version and is ok if you know the limitations - it just wouldn't do the tough stuff and my back yard went wild.Read the reviews on the homelight and bit the bullet and bought. The reviews were right , it's a ripper - it's the first time I've seen my backyard for years. I got sick of line feeders not working and having to stop every 10mins - the homelight is not a feed - you cut 50cm pieces and hook and eye it through the head - I like this, but not everyones cup of tea. I had some serious overgrowth to get through and it did the job

Just sharing some feedback - I got the 2xbattery version of this and it powers through most stuff. Absolutely obliterates the wandering dew and weeds on my property. I did have to replace stock line with the one thats reinforced (much stronger) called powerfit. It performs much better… Stock line kept breaking :)
Last resort would have been drilling larger hole so I can go thicker than 2mm but the powerfit line is great.
Very close to purchasing blade versions of this tool but equally read bad experiences. Even if the line breaks at times at least your not ripping up your concrete or damaging surfaces with blades

    Goodluck!
    :)

    • Don't drill out the head. Larger line 2.4/2.7mm+ is built for petrol brush cutters not line trimmers.
      Brush cutter = professional
      Line trimmer = domestic
      around 30cc+.
It will kill the motor as it's much harder to turn. You'll also snap a shaft cable. The cutter on the guard won't even be able to cut 2mm.
You'll also notice in this calibre, line trimmer cord can fuse and it does produce a lot of heat!

We actually change out line trimmer heads for GA speed feed pros in this calibre.

      I run Stihl fs240 and Stihl 131r.
Walk behind whippy (cub cadet) runs 4mm cord.

I have run out of negs for those who think this trimmer has blades.

It's pretty confusing to read the comments. Ideally should be moderated like a forum and unpublished for being off-topic.

  • I tried a battery version line trimmer after wired version got a broken handel. I used once then clean up and return. It worked like a toy. Never looked at the battery version again even for small grass area.

  • I have this line trimmer.

I haven’t used the included spool though, as I heard general comments that spooled line is hard to deal with.

    I modded it this way:

    https://ibb.co/HzsF0dY
    https://ibb.co/RYCdbv3

Essentially drilling two holes to thread a short and bent line in.

The mod has a downside - the holes get progressively bigger as the plastic is too soft. I plan to use those rivert/eyelet metal thing to strengthen the drilled holes. Failing that I’ll try the included spool.

    • Thanks for sharing mate, good idea!

Please let us know how you go with those eyelet things to preserve the drilled holes!

If anyone is still perusing this, I bought one of these other day after my ryobi 36v crapped itself other day (which was overkill for myself, but good unit) and just used for first time. If you have realistic expectations for a $125 trimmer with a single line, it is quite excellent, actually kind of exceeded my expectation a little. I typically keep my lawn decently manicured as it is so USUALLY nothing too thick, I have just couch grass so if I do neglect the edging (like I had done recently) the edges do get quite thick, but it chopped through it perfectly fine. Good feeling of control and personally I do like the automatic feed line. Edged along my driveway and gutters pretty well. Personally I have a few 4 amp ozito batteries so I just used one of those, so I can't comment on the 2.5 amp battery with it. Would be nice to have some slightly thicker line though.

For the price, it is an excellent bit of kit.

Here's to me, laughing at all of you who bought this for RRP when you could have gotten the ryobi for $70 lol

Best part was Tiger (OP) edited the post and removed the claim of it being like 50% off RRP

    • Hey eddyah,

I referenced Price Hipster in the comments. It seems they linked the wrong product and have since corrected their error. Maybe you can enlighten us on what the RRP is?

BTW, did the Ryobi you have referenced come with a battery and charger (i.e. Kit) or have you made a similar error to Price Hipster?
