bought another 2 monitors = 3 all up.Upgraded the whole office from small 10 year old 24" 1080p screens. everybody is super excited. reviews look great too.
I got two used and another brand new one. So everyone is getting an upgrade.
Mine didn't come with all the wires in the manual, wouldn't have bothered but didn't have a HDMI as well, how about everyone else who recd it?
Mine came with everything, as stated in the manual.
Mine came with DP, VGA, Audio. USB, Power. No HDMI/DVI. Quick setup states different according to region. My monitor has serial starting with AU.
No HDMI for me either.
Just a quick question, I can't get it out of 30hz refresh rate. Could it be because I am using an old HDMI cable, or is it because my lappy is quite old? Its an old Thinkpad e450, its an i7 5500 but it has a discrete AMD R7 M260 GPU. I could run 60hz with a 2k 24" monitor. But now this is 4k I can only get 30hz. Bit annoying. Love the huge screen though, its a great cheap upgrade. I am not a gamer at all, its only for work, so I guess the 30hz doesn't really matter. Just thought 60hz would be easier on the eyes tho.
Most likely the HDMI cable. Try another one if you have it or alternatively use the display port cable. On
@green_banana: Thanks heaps, I will try that first. I think the laptop only outputs HDMI 1.2 though? Yes, its that old. And still running fine! And it certainly does not have a DP out.
Have you changed the HDMI and DP signalling in the menus? They default to 30hz.
If you have already set hdmi mode to 2.0 in the menu setting and your laptop is still stuck at 30 then your laptop may not support 60 at 4K. My Lenovo Yoga from a couple of years back is also unable to support 60 but the screen does work at 4K 60 with my wife’s laptop on the same hdmi cable.
Edit: should mention that I’m using a usb c thunderbolt to hdmi connector with my Yoga which may be the problem but from what I’ve read my yoga does not support 4K 60, only 30.
@Gravy: question how to tell if the screen 30 or 60 ? from display setting?
@CyberMurning: I’m not in front of pc at moment but think it’s under advanced settings in windows display settings. Pretty sure you can also set the monitor to pop up the display mode details when it switches modes which should also tell you if connected at 30 or 60
@Gravy: Yep, mine keeps reminding me "best results are at 60hz" but my old lappy….just…. can't….quite….get there 😃
@Gravy: Yeah, thanks Gravy! Doing some more research, it looks like the very most the old Lenovo can manage at 60hz is 1080p.
Nevermind, still really really happy with the monitor. I'm not gaming, so I'm stoked! Thanks OP.
@HappyPants: I'm currently only running it at 1080p 60 and I think the 4K resolution may help to smooth out the 1080p a little. Hoping to upgrade the PC soon though so I can take full advantage of the 4K.
Sold out again.
We will have more of the Used ones available, however, they will not be able to be shipped till the new year.
Hi Calmago, if I buy one of these used monitors, can its delivery be held back to say Jan 05?
Received mine today. Also no HDMI cable. It is a really good office/cad/Photoshop monitor. The monitor comes pre calibrated to sRGB which is crazy good for a 200$ monitor (you even get a little printout with test results).
Connected to a M1 Mac book air with Kmart HDMI to USBC cable, flawless and the colours line up. Very happy.
received mine. nsw 21xx i thought the store is in QLD? one day turn around really express. wondering how much is ebay paying for the postage.
Amazing shipping time, received mine just 24 hours after ordering (Qld to Sydney!) - unbelievably quick.
When I first turned mine on it had some weird lines and ghosting down the middle, both before plugging in an input and also after connecting the laptop, thought it may be a faulty unit but it suddenly disappeared after 5 minutes and seems all sweet now.
Also I found that it was stuck at 30hz so it was pretty laggy, didn't even have the option higher than 30hz in Windows display settings. But I found in the monitor OSD menu it was set to HDMI 1.4. Changed it to HDMI 2.0, and then 60hz suddenly became available to select (Windows 10). Running great now.
Thanks Calmago, awesome deal.
so i changed to hdmi 2 and on display setting i can choose 60hz but when i pick that the monitor become dark. when i change back to 30hz it back alive. why?
yeah my mouse cursor is laggy at 30hz.
what to do ? my laptop is thinkpad T490s, but connected to displaylink dock then go to 2 monitors (the other monitor is crappy old FHD)
hmm i think my T490s only able to support 4k at 30hz !
https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-T400-T500-and-newer-T-…
testing with dp instead of hdmi now. same with dp cable.
its blury at FHD60hz, but laggy at 4K30hz. what to do ?
https://psref.lenovo.com/syspool/Sys/PDF/ThinkPad/ThinkPad_T…
If you use TB you can get up to 60Hz
But i have cable run from laptop TB to lenovo dock.
Dock spec:
DisplayPort: 3840 x 2160 @ 60 Hz, HDMI: 3840 x 2160 @ 60 Hz, Bundle DisplayPort 1 & DisplayPort 2 to the monitor: 5120 x 2880 @ 60 Hz,,
@CyberMurning: Weird… you don’t have a spare TB to HDMI cable?
@jlogic: I dont have. But the dock input is c. And if possible i want to use dock (so i can have 2 external monitors)
I will try different usb c to c cable, also different hdmi/dp cables later (the ones from dock to monitors)
Just got mine, large and bright. First impressions is its great esp for the money! My previous monitor was a 1080p 22" (also a VA panel) and this thing is a behemoth in comparison. Was also missing hdmi cable (had all the other ones though). luckily the one I had supports hdmi 2.0. Weird because the box still had philips seal intact. Its set to hdmi 1.4 by default and I had to go into monitor settings to change it to 2.0 to get 60hz. Also as others have said, it takes a while after turning on the monitor to get anything to display, and my first time turning on monitor brings up a image burn in message and I had to remove hdmi cable and reattach it to get a desktop.
I also have a minor issue: at times I seem to get random horizonal tearing/flickering though nothing too bothersome but I wish it wasnt there. Maybe I try another cable and see if it fixes it.
How does this compare to the Dell S2722QC Monitor other than the USB-C.
Thanks
Thanks for the fast delivery, Calmago.
Unfortunately, the monitor I received is definitely not new. It's got a label-maker sticker on it with the words "LIBRARY-DESK-14". There are also scratches, some oil/liquid on the arm, loose cables, missing bits, protective film removed and scrunched up in the box, and… well, I don't want anyone to get jealous here … there's grey hair stuck in the corner of the frame. (So were people just bludgeoning each other with their 32" monitors at this workplace???!)
Anyway, silly jokes aside, hopefully my experience is just a one-off, and I'll get it sorted with BNEACTTRADER after Christmas.
Also, I videoed my unpacking of the monitor, as I always do with online purchases, so I have proof of how I received the goods. Recommend others do it for situations like this.
So they sold used item as brand new? Is your unit sealed when you received it ?
Yes, probably a simple mix up or oversight.
The box I received has the original "Philips" security tape on it, but it had been cut, and has been re-taped over with another clear tape.
I reckon these came from nsw dep of education based on the address of the packaging from the used ones and where they were addressed to. Seems they upgraded to 34 inch dell monitors…the library desk sticker also fits in then
Yes, my box has a 2020 courier sticker on it that says it was originally delivered to , "Dept of Education - ITD Warehouse" in Mascot.
Is that a Philips box (new monitor) or Dell box (with the secondhand monitor)?
@Gravy: It's the original Philips box, but came with a used monitor.
Nice sleuthing. Just noticed the same on my secondhand one and was wondering where they would have got that many Dell boxes of the right size. Has the original purchase order number on there too. Maybe TAFE or somewhere that would need larger screens for design courses? The Dell box was shipped to dept ed back in June 22.
Mine arrived really fast too (to syd), haven't opened yet, hope there's no hairs wedged in the corners @Surethang - found this video while waiting, may help those playing with settings, Video description:
"This video explains how to get UHD 4K 2160p output on Philips 328P6V monitor by doing simple adjustment in the OSD menus.
By default monitor is accepting only UHD resolution up to 30 frames per second since its DisplayPort and HDMI are not set at newer versions by default. Simple adjustment will solve this.
This tutorial can be applicable to other UHD monitors on the market for connecting to PC, game console like PS4 Pro or XBox One S and so on."
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYtXs9-_3mM
There seems to be a couple of PV6 variants, I still don't know which I/we got ;)
Got mine today. Was worried I would receive a 2nd hand one disguised as new but mine is definitely new as it came with HDMI cable and monitor looks untouched.
@D000FUS Was the Philips seal intact on yours or was it taped over?
question please..
i have another laptop. it has intel UHD graphics 630 and Nvidia GTX1050Ti.
and:
1x Type-C USB3.2 Gen1 (no displayport ability, i tried, store also confirmed this is dumb usb C)
3x Type-A USB3.2 Gen1
1x (4K @ 30Hz) HDMI
then no matter what i wont be able to get 4K60Hz, right?
I would have thought the 1050Ti would support 4K60, what laptop is it?
Also try 2560 x 1440 60hz as the screen still handles that res quite well.
yeah 1050ti can but the hdmi port is crap only 30hz
Msi gf75. Budget of the Budget
Bummer, yeah seems the HDMI port is not HDMI 2.0 compatible.
Try 2560 x 1440 60Hz, it still looks pretty good when I tried it and probably a bit more suited to my failing eyes.
@Gravy: @gravy
dont see 2560 1440, i see 2560 2048, 2560 1920, 2560 1600, then 2048 1536 etc.
best without too much black bar on the side is 2560 1600 but it is still 30hz max.
Unpacked and installed and just sly getting headaches from using it. Is there a reason?
Upgrading from a 27” Samsung monitor 2012 model
she says you cant handle the size
Is it running at 60hz or 30hz? Make sure to enable the hdmi 2.0 option in monitor settings for 60hz, likewise adjust to newer standard for display port setting if using that.
Also try reducing brightness of sitting very close to screen.
I got mine today. Mine was new, BUT, the philips seal had been broken and then taped back up. Still had the philips sticker on the bottom left.
Came with
What a steal for this price! 4K/60 32", with rotation, and with height adjustment.
My thoughts, keeping in mind i'm a bit of a monitor snob and own a bunch other 1080p/1440p/4k 27/32/42" pc screens. Most of them fairly high quality screens. So i'm a bit of a monitor snob.
There are some things that i don't like about it. It's got buttons that aren't buttons, you just press on the plastic, no tactile feedback. I hate this, but it's more a personal preference. The bezel is large, definitely showing the older production date, but this doesn't effect the usage, it's just compared to newer monitors it's a bit antiquated looking. Text isn't very clear in Windows on this @4k 100% or 4k 150% scaling. I couldn't see myself really using it for day to day desktop usage because of the text being somewhat blurred, and this carries over to general graphics… this blurry visual effect is there all the time. It's weird because when i do the online monitor calibration test, the text sharpness test is much better, but then in windows the text is all over the place…. Some text looks ok, some text looks bad.
Colour wise it's quite good, not as good as my other 32"4k LG panel, but… that panel cost almost 3x what i paid for this one.
As a gaming and movies monitor, it's an incredible buy for the price, as someone who uses desktop computers a lot, the text thing, i couldn't look at all day while working. That being said… for the price, incredible buy! Providing you got a new one and not a pre-used one from the library!
my 2c, would buy again if had the chance!
Just to further on this, make sure you leave the sharpness at 50, it makes the text as good as it will look, not too bad actually going up or down on sharpness and the text goes awful.
Also make sure you goto the device manager and find the monitor, it'll say plug and play monitor, right click it and tell it to update driver and look online. There's a driver for this monitor, you shoudl use it, some strange resolution stuff happens without that driver. It's very niche/advanced use cases where you'll experience this, but getting the driver properly reports all the supported modes.
Thanks I have noticed slightly blurred text, slightly straining my eyes. I’ve got it next to an lg ips monitor. Have updated drivers, getting a new hdmi cable tomorrow to take advantage of its capabilities
Gonna give it a week, if it still strains my eyes, gonna go back to 27” ips
Try what jlogic said about disabling ClearType text, and try turn the brightness down a bit if it's hurting your eyes. I personally think a 32" screen is too big to use at the usual distance away from you, you need to have them further away, i have one on a mount and it's further away than my main screen that i look at all day, which is a 1440p 28". The 32" 4k is my side screen
I just double checked mine, it was actually factory sealed with philips tape. Both sides. I made a mistake, i thought it had another layer over it but it didn't. I did purchase the NEW listing though, there was a listign for brand new and a listing before it for USED monitors. Mine was purchased as new, and it was new, just for clarification.
Hey @captainmurphy just checking to see… with VA panels normally you will need to turn off ClearType. With it on it makes text blocky on certain VA panels.
Search Cleartype in Windows search to get to the setting.
@captainmurphy Just pinging to make sure you get to see the above comment. It doesn't provide that option on an edit post.
Thankyou for this tip @jlogic! That made the text look really good! At 150% it looks really crisp and sharp now. I could use this for my daily now, no problems at all. SRGB mode for me is crazy bright and washed out for my liking, but i got it dialed pretty easy.
What a steal these new monitors were at this price!
My setings for anyone that cares.
Brightness 55
Contrast 35
Sharpness 50
Smart Response Fast
SmartContrast Off (hate this)
Gamma 2.4
Pixel Orbiting Off
7500k colour temp
I'm using via DP 4k@60fps. via DP 1.2. By default it was set to DP 1.1.
I tried using hdmi, the text is very clear, but the blacks are very bright and the colours are quite washed out compared to using DP, with the exact same settings, where as with the DP connection, i get much darker blacks, and much richer colours, it looks a lot better through DP. Tried various cables to see if that changes anything, but no.
I will continue to use DP. It looks great!
NOTE TO ANYONE WHO GOT ONE OF THESE MONITORS… Run it via DP for much darker blacks and richer colours, and go into your settings on the screen and change the DP port to 1.2 and the HDMI port to 2.0 mode!! They are set to old port speeds by default.
I think this monitor and the $399 3060 GPU was my buy of the year and thanks for the text info, very helpful!
ok i followed all your setting except 6500k colour temp. thanks
my laptop only has hdmi 1.2 so i cant get 60hz at 4K.
nothing i can do.
@CyberMurning: Yeah, the monitor will not be the best to use @ 30fps unfortunately, i couldn't do it. I also have the issue with brightness on SRGB, it sets it to max and washes everything out.
Using it via Display Port is by far the best, no idea why but i get really dark blacks on this screen via DP but can't get close to it on HDMI. It looks f'n sweet now i've got it all calibrated. I didn't actually have to disable ClearType text, but i had to run through the little cleartype wizard in windows and select all the text boxes that look right, that's what fixed my horrible text problem.
If i had any idea these monitors would look so good, i would have got more. Seriously thought they were going to be trash panels for the price…
@captainmurphy: I still haven't been able to test it properly yet. I need to get a better HDMI cable… the one that came with it is only rated at High Speed so that is 30Hz only.
Yes you can calibrate ClearType.
sRGB emulation if you come from a wide gamut screen takes a bit to get use to as saturation decreases. I just did a quick calibration with a known sRGB accurate monitor and from eye checking the sRGB mode is a little under saturated so emulation might not cover the entire gamut.
Will need to get out the Calibrate checker when I get a better HDMI cable.
Do you think we can use hdmi to DP cable?
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004550786953.html?spm=a2…
@Peteroz: If the hdmi is maxed at 30hz i doubt it will make any difference
I downoladed the SmartControl software and now I can adjust my monitor settings without using the touchscreen! definitely less fiddley.
Im using a 2.1 hdmi cable and basically the same settings as you:-
Brightness 45%
contrast 50%
User Define 100 all (6500k looks closest to natural of the colour temperatures for me, 7500 makes the screen too blue).
smart response fast
smartcontrast off (I hate this too it will darken the screen if you have a predominately black background with white text gradually over time like dimming)
gamma 2.4
pixel orbiting on (apparently this just a anti image burn in feature that offsets pixels by 1 every 10min)
I also left cleartype on I find the text less bold if I disable it. I use notepad to test text clarity. and the UI looks off to me with cleartype off.
Just loaded mine up and my text is crispy clear. I have turned on sRGB mode. I didn't check the Cleartype mode though as the text was crispy to my eyes. Loaded the ABC news website. Tried it in both landscape and portrait.
Only can run it in 30Hz mode as HDMI port on my laptop is 1.4 only.
for me sRGB is too bright - because it auto changes brightness to 100% dont know why
when i decrease brightness it switch to 6500k colour temp
That's what happens when the panel has sRGB emulation. Most cheaper panels lock out settings. You generally need to move into the $K price range if you want to get customisable settings with sRGB.
I don't mind the brightness because I normally don't compute in the dark. It's not a terribly bright monitor.
as someone mentioned there is an app to control monitor settings this is the link
https://www.philips.com.au/c-p/328P6VJEB_75/brilliance-4k-lc…
Just discovered that the SmartControl software supports auto rotation. Nice.
Also discovered that with my secondhand model I didnt get a USB upstream cable. I tried using a USB3 cable from a harddrive with the same connector but doesnt seem to work.
Is there a difference with this cable type that is specific for upstream?
anyone recommend another monitor that will complement this one? would there be a significant difference if i used an IPS monitor next to this VA one? Currently using an old LG IPS (max resolution 1920x1080), whilst using 3840 x 2160 for this one. Feels abit weird. I presume if i want to streamline, i need another 4k monitor to get the same resolution to complement?
Has anyone managed to get this monitor to display in 4k @ 60 Hz.
My laptop has HDMI 1.4 port and USB-C with displayport.
Using a new HDMI 2.1 cable plugged into this USB C hub (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08YMW6WLK/ref=ask_ql_qh_d…) which I bought specifically for the claim of 4K at 60 Hz if single display, and HDMI settings on monitor set to 2.0, I'm still only getting options in advanced display settings of refresh rate up to 30Hz.
hmm try to get usb c to display port cable direct (or display port to display port cable then get a converter)
https://www.amazon.com/DisplayPort-Certified-Gold-Plated-Thu…
This is the way… check to make sure the USB C port can output 4K@60Hz.
Not all hubs can output 4K@60Hz.
It is all about the number of lanes that are available for bandwidth. Never trust the information off the hub marketing equipment.
https://www.bigmessowires.com/2019/05/19/explaining-4k-60hz-…
If you want 4K 60Hz, 5K, or multiple external monitors, then you’ll need to use DisplayPort Alternate Mode with all four lanes for DisplayPort data, as shown in the bottom rows of the table. To the computer and the external monitor, this still looks exactly like a regular DisplayPort connection. But now there are no lanes remaining for USB 3.1 data. There’s only the old D+/D- pair providing slower USB 2.0 data. That means any USB-C hub using this technique for 4K60 video can’t have any USB 3.1 ports on it.
To do this and have multiple ports you will need a TB hub.
So what you're saying is the USB hub I got (linked above) is telling porkies?
The problem with a direct usb c to displayport cable is I lose the ability to charge my laptop as it has a single usb c port.
So do I need to find a thunderbolt hub? Any recommendations?
@constipated: Pretty much a ThunderBolt hub because then the data stream is encapsulated into whatever is in that ThunderBolt stream. Looking at $200 minimum for a hub. @ChiMot could share the brand that they are using.
Just searching OzB for ThunderBolt docks shows up a few bargains here and there. Nothing like the price you paid for the USB hub that you got.
Don't worry I fell into that trap and bought one and now it sits in a drawer. 30Hz is such a frigging pain.
@jlogic: Can always return to amazon.
Mine
https://www.lenovo.com/au/en/p/accessories-and-software/docking/docking_usb-docks-(universal-cable-docks)/40af0135au
And yes it power my laptop as well
forgot to say ofcourse many can get 4k60hz including me but my setup is complicated im using a hub (which cost $200) and 2 monitors so dont follow mine
Was your hub a Thunderbolt one?
i think so. it says can do 2 x 4k60hz maximum
but im using 1x 4k60hz (this monitor) and 1x crappy FHD
sorry not hub but DOCK
duh…
i think so.
Definitely not a TB docking station.
Double check the specs. It is just a USB-C docking station. So, max speed is limited to 5Gbps, whereas TB will go up to 40Gbps.
I finally received all my monitors 2x Used and 1x New and I have to say I am impressed with the quality. I don't know what sort of viewing angles some people are looking at but from the sides using peripheral vision the screen doesn't look washed out etc.
Colours are great. Just need to color check it with a colorimeter or eye check it to a known source.
Don't use the SRGB mode, I have checked it and it basically locks the monitor and the gamut actually reduces down so it's not a true SRGB gamut anymore.
For the price I paid I ended up with 3 4K monitors wheres brand new I would of only maybe got 1.5. Happy days and thanks for the deal Calmago.
Wow so triple monitor setup? What kind of work do you have?
No… it for all the other family members. Might as well upgrade theirs to 4K as well.
Don't game seriously so 60Hz doesn't bother me. However I do need the colour to look right for the content work I do. I will still keep my Dell UltraSharp to be the final proof monitor but so far so good what I see on the Philips matches what I see on the Dell so happy with that. Mainly SRGB I don't think the Philips gets to a close enough Adobe RGB to be able to use it.
From my own testing and others it reaches 99.9% SRGB and 97.8% DCI-P3 and from the Display Specs 85% Adobe RGB.
I was only getting 4K 30Hz from this on DisplayPort!
I tried different cables, OS, computers, before realising it was only doing DP 1.1.
After a reset, this is the default limit, until I go in and manually change the setting to DP1.2 and HDMI 2.0.
Surely this is very strange firmware?! Anyone else had that problem? Or nobody else reset to the default settings?
discussed many times in this thread, no need reset just change the setting asap
Sorry, I thought I searched for "30hz", must have made a typo or something. Too many thread on this monitor :)
Now I just need to figure out how to make Ubuntu look decent.
More units released, get in quick. Thanks OP!
Regretted not buying this earlier this week - so glad they have more stock!
