I think it's just small free samples by the look of it, fairly normal.
Sad news about the business though.
Oh. ok. :( yeah :(
Can't say i'm surprised, always thought their chocolate was fcking terrible
The rest of their sweets are good though.
See link below, for what above posts have said.

This is normal, although when you can post from lets say switzerland and its cheaper than postage here no wonder no aussie chocolate business can last.
maybe aussie chocolates simply don't cater for most of aussie tastes anymore?
I find them just way too sweet with no flavors other than sugar.
Like a lot of German chocolate.
I reckon the Australian chocolate tastes better(but it used to be better).
administrators will not like this giving away of assets ………
maybe it was the administrator's decision?
Best situation to be in:
Mate of a colleague owns a mail order business
Is sitting on about 2 tonnes of chocolate that he isn't going to be getting paid for
What do?
They always do that in front of their shop.
oh, a free sample? whoop de doo.
they just went into voluntary administration, at least that is what i heard on the radio
I work right next door to this DL shop & they hand out free samples constantly! Nothing to see here, keep moving. ;)
Keep moving
Reminds me of me Mum
… BTW who cares about seeing, isnt it eating we are discussing, and that sugar sure gets things moving, inside and out …;)
I just got 2 rocklea road & a handfull of humbugs. Cheers!
wow …. not sample …..
That's why they close down.
Bah!
Everyone should go buy some sweeties from Darrell Lea. I hate seeing us lose yet another Australian institution that's been there seemingly forever.
I think that's just the nature of business. You either adapt or you perish. Maybe its just me who feels this way, but their products were always overpriced and not that high in quality. They pay premium rent (I'm thinking Westfields and George Street Sydney) and their shops are way too common to be a cherished commodity.
IMO, Giving DL as a gift is seen as cheap as opposed to say, a box of Lindt, even though they will end up costing about the same. You need to differentiate yourself (such as Haigh's chocolate - http://haighschocolates.com.au/our_chocolates/boxed/boxed_ch…) if you want to charge premium price!
Sad…but inevitable.
That person handing out the chocolate just want to be on TV.
I love the humbugs and licorice, never thought much of the chocolate though. will be sad if they go :(
I have the factory outlet a few k's down the road. I've been there a few times. Most of the time the seconds stuff is cheap, the rest is normal retail pricing…
I'd love to go and buy a heap of stuff, I'm not overly fussy with chocolate - almost anything will do, but I'm really trying to lose some weight, and I have zero will power… If it's there, I'll eat it :-/
May be I'll buy just a little bit…
MY FAVOURITE LICORICE! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
The photo looks like they are handing out taste test potions.
Nothing special or unusual there.
