I noticed JB just match Telstra price, and the 5% off can be applied to the Pixel phone range.

Too bad they didn't match the P7.

We've been looking out for this deal - came true :)

    • I wasn't but I bought one anyway. Time to let my S10+ go

  • +2

    Coupon didn't work for me

Edit, copied the 10% code. 5% works

  • I'm hoping they'll bring back the $89 per month for 24 month deal they had on Black Friday - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/740346

    • I did get my hands on it, ended up getting it down to $69 p/m through the $20 port in bill credit. Comes out to $19 pm when you factor in the GC. Great plan.

      • Yeah I know, shattered I didn't jump on it!

        • I wouldn't be surprised if this is a Boxing Day or New Year's offer

      • Is that credit for the life of the plan? If so pretty decent.

        • Not for the entire life, but until the contract lock is removed - so $20 credit for 24 mths

          • @AircraftFreight: How did you get $20 credit? I mean is it easy to have to try multiple time to get it?

            • +5

              @Bacha: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/740346?page=2#comment
Step 1) Dont go to sales or to the general department, go to the billing team as this worked for both the $10 and the $20 responses
Step 2) Go off the lines "G'day I am wondering if there would be any issues going forward when I have activated my plan with Telstra, JB Hi Fi $99 promo that if I am going to be eligible to receive your Telstra $20 pm port in credit for the remainder of my contract, this is probably my determining factor in choosing Telstra"
Step 3a) If saying yes you are eligible or something that confirms the waiver - you can buy the plan
Step 3b) If they say no, repeat
              Step 4) Buy the plan
Step 5) Once you have got the phone, contact Telstra and use a screenshot of the convo as proof and see if you can cross them over IF they say no
Step 6) You have unlocked a $69 (nice) p/m plan for the next 24 months and a $1,200 JB GC

            • +1

              @Bacha: If you don't succeed , try again !
              Not rocket science…

    • What does that have to do with this phone deal? Dont mean to be rude but I dont see any connection here.

      • +2

If this offer were to come back online, the phone is essentially free after not just the discount but the existing offer already by JB.

I priced matched Telstra's Pixel 7 deal at JB HI-FI for $749 and paid with Ultimate gift cards (currently 10% off at Woolworths) if anyone's interested in doing the same.

My local Officeworks wouldn't price match/beat Telstra as you need to be a Telstra customer to access the deal. Still, $674 for the Pixel 7 is a good deal (even better if you can get your local Officeworks to price beat and use gift cards for a total of $640).

    • +1

I was able to price beat at Office works, Auburn with no prior Telstra connection for $711.5. Used 15% off cards bought from Coles and the final price was $605

  • Price match via google store (https://support.google.com/store/answer/9631873?hl=en) then sign up for Google One 2tb and get 10% cashback. Effectively bringing down the 128gb down to $866

    • +4

      They don't price match coupons.

    • +5

I thought they dont match until after you buy? Stuff Google, just too much effort to deal with their rubbish.

      • That's what i've heard too, but I took the risk during black friday. Messaged them on live chat and they got it sorted for me within an hour. Saved a further $130 during the time. might be worth the hassle.

  • +1

What's everyone's thoughts on 6a vs 7? 6a is at $549 currently also, so with the 5% off its close to other recent sales.

    • +3

Depends on yr budget. If you can afford the 7 it's an objectively better phone. Notably it has 2gb more ram than the 6a. That said, the user experience is not going to be that much different if you don't mind cutting a few corners. The 6a is still a great device with amazing reviews and lots of equivalences.

      This might help

I'm really excited to go in there in the next hour, see the guy who refused my pricematch a day ago, and pay with 15% off gift cards. Thanks OP.

    • +1

ahaha you show him! but i must ask where did you get these 15 percent off gift cards?

    • +1

      User name checkz out

  • Does anyone know if I can ask them in store to use the 5% code?

    • You could call your local store? ive asked them to match web deals before and they just call the web team and check

    • +1

You can, I just asked. Ends today I think

  • +1

Don't think I could manage on 128gb rom, even with Google photos? What's the space on a system storage on a fresh 128gb? I'll have to keep my old note 10+ 512gb until the 512gb pixel becomes more affordable!

Pixel 7s are a great phone! The 128gb is a killer deal 👌

    • +1

512gb internal storage would be a minimum these days, I don't do cloud. I am a bit annoyed that phones no longer have sd card slots so they can charge more money. Samsung used to me my go to phone.

  • What colour do you guys prefer out of Snow, Obsidian and Hazel?

    • Was leaning towards the Snow but I don't think I like the silver edges around the screen. I think Obsidian with the darker edges will make the bezels look better.

      • +1

Remember that anodized aluminium can scuff and go silver, while the silver will stay the same colour. Though they both look great to me tbh, hard to pick between them.

        • Ended up getting the white 😊

Take another $90 with TRS in January and we're only just over $800 all in!

    • +1

I've always liked white or silver devices.
      Black is boring to me.
Though depending on the case you get your either won't see it, won't see much of it or will just get the trims.
So maybe go by the colour of the trim you like best, if using a case.
I would pick snow regardless though.

  • Price beat with Officeworks and used 10 Ultimate Home cards

    • +7

      Username checks out

    • Where are the ultimate home cards bought from? and is that discounted also?

      • +2

Yeah, last week Coles were selling these gift cards at 15% off; I knew I wanted a pixel pro so I stocked up and waited for a juicy sale. Juicy sale then came up. I believe there is a 10% off gift cards sale at Woolies now so that's not too bad

    • How much did you pay?

      • I bought $1000 worth of gift cards for $850 and paid the remaining on card ($149) so $989 for the 256gb. Other ozbargainers would be able to do this and get a duty free tax refund, but only if you're going overseas.

        • No problem using 10 gift cards in one transaction at Officeworks?

  • +1

    i paid too much

  • Dammit, after waiting a week for this I ordered it last night from Telstra to try and make it before Christmas for mum delivered.

    Telstra won't cancel :(

    • Oh bugger… Any chance of using the 7-day price match from Telstra? - https://www.telstra.com.au/mobile-phones/price-match

      • +1

That won't work as I'm not a Telstra customer and it doesn't accept codes.
However after giving a 1/5 review for the chat with Telstra must have been escalated and now they will cancel it for me within 3 days and it hasn't been shipped yet.

Off to Woolworths to buy some 10% off ultimate cards i guess!

        • Glad to hear you were able to cancel your Telstra Order.

Go earn another OzBargain badge! hurrah~!

          • @viewfinder: Got 2x $500 cards from woollies for $900, purchased 2x JBHI $500 cards from the web site, ordered using the gift cards + $1.50 shipping. so $901.50 total delivered to mum.

            • @Kegsta: Well done! Hope your mum enjoys the phone. :)

Based on the math that you had provided, do you have $4 remaining on the JB HiFi gift card? If so, perhaps use it before you forget about it. For example, towards a little something like a popsocket to help prop-up mum's new big phone?

              • @viewfinder: Nah total price was $1001.54 including postage so $900 for the gift cards + $1.54

  • How good is the "Mobile Extras 24 month plan Issued by SquareTrade" for damage replacements? Its around $149 for mobiles less than $100 and $249 for others. The price doesn't reduce when I apply the 5% coupon. Can I get the mobile plan from the store? Any idea? Thanks.

My battery is almost dead just from browsing this page. Don't get a pixel 7. (Unsure about pro)

    • Not sure why all the negs as you're only giving your first-hand experience? Anyway, for the last 4 hours I've had 3hr 22min of screen on time .. consisting of streaming music through Tidal via bluetooth, playing more Sudoku than I'd like to admit (don't tell my boss), checking some emails, paying some bills and moving some funds between accounts and I'm still on 75% with my P7P running the latest Beta Android.

Do you run dark mode for both phone and ozb? The OLED in the P7 series is said to be quite power hungry and the white wallpaper on ozb wouldn't help with that.

  • +4

Just swapped from a S22+ to a Pixel 7 Pro.

The S22+ was great but I truly disliked the camera as it was really bright and I had to manually adjust the exposure during every shot which drove me crazy.

Very happy with the Pixel 7 Pro so far. Great camera, really clean UI and no galaxy store.

    • +1

How's the shutter speed and speed of the photo being ready to view? Compared to your s22

      • +1

Shutter speed feels faster but processing seems longer.

  • +1

Seems like Officeworks has changed the prices as well $837.00 for the P7 now. $1,037.00 for the P7P

    • Telstra still cheaper for p7

    • Awesome, does OW allow the use of multiple GCs?

      • +1

Yes they do as I did

  • How do these phones compare with the top end Samsung Galaxy phones? Have only ever used Samsung

    • +1

after my experience with samsung care+, im out, and over to google pixel

      • what was your experience?

        • +1

          fault galaxy flip
had to claim care replacement, sent me wrong phone
5 calls to get right phone, plus providing proof of purchase.
sent me right phone as replacement
have made two calls since as been charge 149 twice for two replacements, due to their error
every time someone promised to call me back, never did
still waiting on refunds for care fees incorrectly charged 14 days later.

Wont give a dime to samsung for a phone from here.

          • @LikezDaBargainz: their warranty has always been hit and miss. Sometimes I buy second hand samsung phones and the warranty is tricky as

    • +7

Having only used these two series and now using the P7P full time, I can say the Pixel is an absolute beast of a phone.

Issues I noticed during the transition:

Navigation being swipe from the corners by default was too much for my middle-aged brain so I brough back the navbar.. the back button being on the left takes some getting use to but not a big deal.
The interface whilst very similar, is still different and took some adjustment, I miss the pages of apps rather that one up/down list .. but they're alphabetical and the search function is now my go to
Some apps aren't there by default like a Gallery app, took me longer than I expected to find that "Files" is where you find it.. this app isn't the best either.
The phone gets toasty when using it.. only on the left side. Not sure why but I bought a case which absorbs that heat, bonus is it's protected and feels nicer that it's not so slippery.

      Things I like:

Camera is incredible.. I love to take (crap) photos and this things is an absolute powerhouse here.. the digital zoom is just insane when you consider the end result and that you only have 5x optical to go with it. Here's a photo from the office this week << just bear in mind that MS Paint compresses the image somewhat so it looks even better on the phone

Photo editing is great. My wife does photography on a professional level and sometimes if her camera isn't quick enough to focus, she'll send me the image and I can use the AI to unblur the photo.. you can barely tell it was processed .. here's an example of my youngest << just bear in mind that MS Paint compresses the image somewhat so it looks even better on the phone

General camera performance is great.. colour profile is spot on and it's not too processed.. Selfie Cam Example and Main Cam Example.

The software is just so refined and a real pleasure to use.. thought goes into everything like live captions, the layout of the phone and neat features like car crash detection, digital welbeing, custom alarm features (mine turns the lights up, plays the news and tells me a really bad dad joke each time) and a whole host of features.

And to think it costs less than half that of a similarly spec'd samsung.. not sure I can ever go back to another brand.. I certainly don't want to!!

  • Can someone confirm whether the following prices are obtainable?

    1. Google Store - pay $1299, then price match the $996, and get the difference back. At the same time 10% Cashback off original purchase price from being a Google one member. Effectively $866.

    2. Officeworks - price match the $996, then 5% price beat. Effectively $946.

I am leaving towards option 1 if it works as can also salary sacrifice on the original purchase price. For someone on top tax bracket (not me), this brings effective price to $250! Not bad for a pixel 7 pro.

    • +1

I don't think Google will price match coupon code.

    • Google won't price match the code, but would match the discounted sale price of $1049 (without the code). You need to first order the device, then request a price match. Once your item ships, you would then bee refunded the difference.

      • Does officeworks price match the coupon price?

        • no

  • +2

Cool buy, the missus was wanting to buy one for the camera and I told her to wait and we'd pick one up when a discount like this came along.

  • I am a Pixel 6 pro owner. I wish they provide a trade-in option. Otherwise, not worth it for me to upgrade from 6 yo 7.

    • I think Jbhifi does accept trade in

    • Better value to sell the p6 than to trade it in anyway

  • What is the best method to get it effectively the cheapest at the moment?

    • +3

      beg

    • +4

Code that's listed plus 10% off gift cards from Woolworths?

      • +2

Can confirm I managed to get this to work.

        • Pixel 7 Pro 512GB RRP - $1599
        • Sale price in store - $1349
        • Went to JB-HIFI and told them to apply the 92WICKEDWED5 code for further 5% off - $1281.55
        • Bought $1300 ($500 + $500 + $300) worth of gift cards at Woolworths, with 10% off I paid $1170 for it
        • Paid with the gift cards, and I have $18.45 balance remaining

Effectively bought the Pixel 7 Pro 512GB for $1153.40

  • I considered this from Telstra for the 512gb but paying interest free over 36 months. I believe you will pay less doing this due to the interest you would earn not paying out a lump sum. Disclaimer though idk if Telstra has a catch for this nor have I done the maths.

    • Do you need to get a plan with it?

  • Does unidays studentbeans 10% code still work for google store?

  • Com'on jb… Match the P7 as well…

  • Is google pixel better for security than iPhone?

    • Not a chance.

  • how can i pay for google pixel 7 pro online with ultimate giftcard(10%) and code (5%)?

    • +1

Buy JB Gift Cards using your Ultimate Cards.

  • -1

As others have stated price match at Google Store ends up much cheaper when combined with other discounts.

For example, during the Black Friday sales JB Hi-fi advertised the Pixel 7 Pro 512GB for $1347.

Google Store also had a $300 bonus credit for Pixel 7 Pro purchases.

Purchasing a 2TB annual plan for Google One $126 up front entitles you to 10% credit back on purchases.

Google Store is $1599 list price.

So you receive the following amounts back:
    $159.90 (for Google One)
$300 (promotion for Pixel 7 Pro)
$252 (price match credit, compared to JB Hi-fi promotion)

This takes the purchase price down to $888 (which is an auspicious number).

Depending on your employment circumstances you may be able to salary sacrifice the outright purchase of a phone, which would enable further discount (but this isn't a deal).

    • do i need to buy first and price match to get $252 ?

where is information about $300 (promotion for Pixel 7 Pro)

      thank you

      • +1

where is information about $300 (promotion for Pixel 7 Pro)

I believe it is this expired deal.

      • If you live chat with Google Support they can confirm the price match prior to your purchase & email you a copy of the conversation.

The Google Credit isn't applied until the phone ships but they honour previously confirmed price match requests & promotions.

I'm unsure if the $300 P7P $250 P7 promotion is still running - it was during Black Friday. They may offer a similar promotion for the holiday season.

I was surprised that more people were paying more when the Google Store seemed to offer the largest discount overall.

        • I think it's because it's only cheaper if you assume $1 google credit is $1. Not everyone wants another google product. And it's a hassle to try sell the Google credit, which would have to sell for discount.
