Penrite HPR 5 5W-40 Fully Synthetic Engine Oil 5L $47 (40% off) + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ Repco

180

Recently started using this oil in my old x5 and noticed smoother drive, not sure how much different to my usual 5w30 but I am quite happy with the ride.

Last time they in special was $42, but not too bad for this price considering everywhere else selling for over $90ish.

OEM approvals MB229.5, BMW LL-04, API SN/CF ACEA B3/C4, JASO MA. Can also be used when 5W30 weight oil is required as per vendor Penrite.

not in the short term e.g. a few years. just store it inside your shed or garage out of direct sunlight

  • Good price for a LL-04 oil. I got a few jugs of the Shell Helix ultra when it was on special for $50 for my Bimmer, but this would probably be a nice replacement as well.

  • this is the good stuff

      I use this for a V6 Bora
      .

    • I've been wondering the same thing. I think this ENVIRO+ 5W-30 (FULL SYN.) is the only VW approved one they produce. It's expensive, I picked up 10L from eBay for $138 or so.

    • I've used this for a vw for the last 8 yrs. Engine runs smoother with this than with other oils I've tried.

      Anything for VW?

VW have been producing cars a long time. Can u be more specific?

I think this ENVIRO+ 5W-30 (FULL SYN.) is the only VW approved one they produce.

They have plenty of VW approved oils.
This is from 2008 and it has increased since then.

    Very good oil!

  • Can anyone recommend what is the oil I should buy for Honda Petrol Lawn mower? is this the good one?

    noticed smoother drive

The placebo is strong here! 40 is a thicker weight oil than 30, so if anything there would be more frictional resistance in the engine. Either way you won't feel the difference.

    • Noticed less oil burn from a 15 years old engine, I would say that is beneficial to me. Ride quality is smoother not sure why, but definitely better than the old 5w30 though.

      • The thicker oil is reducing the piston slap…

Ride quality is smoother not sure why

Placebo. Yes you might be burning less oil but you are not going to feel the difference in ride quality. However if it makes you think it's better, then that's worth every penny even if it made no actual change.

I find the 40 weight oils suits higher mileage cars plus whenever i change oil, regardless of brand the engines seem quieter. Probably due to the oil having broken down after 10000km
