Better than a Galaxy S 1 though because it supports 850MHz 3G (basically essential for Telstra and Vodafone).
doesn't voda also use 900?
S2 is still around 400, S3 is around 600, so 200 for a "S1" is pretty spot on.
Crap phone . My wife has one. She hates it. It has lag on everything you do. She got it given to replace the salsa which was even worse.
Lag is no excuse. You should have installed custom firmware on it
You should have installed custom firmware on it
That's not something you'd expect Joe Average to be able to do. If your phone ships with crappy firmware, then it's a fail.
Most likely on Vodafone's part, since they customised it.
But yeah, if you know how, root it and then flash the firmware. It's one of the best things you can do to improve the performance of any android device.
It's a work phone so not allowed to root it. Security and all. Generally good advice.
It has a 1.4G CPU, 512 M what on earth is your wife doing running Microsoft office?
I updated the firmware on the weekend (Samsung official i.e. not rooted) and it has less lag now.
Is it better getting this or a new battery for sgs1 for a contract ending in October12 with Voda. As stated my sgs has no 900( originally Optus) does have CM9 though :)
I'd just stay on the SGS1. Save your money for a GS3 or something :P
My friendh as a GS1 and it seems to work pretty well on CM.
Well if you're going voda, why wouldn't you get the RedBull 365 + Galaxy W
$465 for the phone + 1yr of unlimited calls/txt in Oz + 5gb data/mth
So you're basically paying $20/mth for unlimited
and it's on the Voda network.
Just bought one to use on Telstra, so looks like I'm gonna be a guinea pig re unlockability (fchis said it was free in the May deal they posted, but several comments indicated this may not be the case for everyone).
Getting my plan-B ready in advance. First is cellunlocker.net - any other suggestions? A site called freeunlocks.com also claims to support this phone and there's one positive comment about it on Whirlpool, but I'm leery of the TrialPay hoops it requires.
Received mine today. Was able to unlock it for free at the Vodafone website. May not be true for every Galaxy W they ship, though.
this is like galaxy s 1 spec….still go for this much
