  • And what do you add of value that justifies prices of ~$8-13 each?

    • These reusable silicone breastmilk storage bags are the cheapest available in Australia.

      • Edit: sorry, Canadian dollars. Bad link. I'll find something else in a jiffy

As opposed to this, which is cheaper and from a company who is more likely to (but not saying they do) have independent testing in an Australian/NZ accredited lab to ensure the materials used are free of bpa etc (test certificates from china to small fry companies aren't worth squat)?

I've assumed you import from somewhere in China, where you have little to do with quality control of the factory, correct me please if wrong.

        • Interesting that you linked a Canadian Amazon listing not available in Australia..

          • @drowe: Interesting your product is on Google search though. Seems a generic product which you have nothing to do with the design of and no control over.

            • @justtoreply: I'm not sure what you are trying to establish here? Neither of those links are more affordable either?
This company states they source quality breastfeeding products and make them available to Australian parents at a more affordable price than is currently available. They make no claims for Intellectual Property rights or of being a manufacturer.

              • @drowe: Sometimes you get so wrapped up in trying to make a point that you forget the point you were actually trying to make 😂

              • @drowe: If you are the cheapest, then fine. If I dig harder, I'm suspicious that I'll find it cheaper elsewhere given its a generic but I'm not good at finding products on Chinese sites because I don't shop on them.

Personally, I'm sick of resellers that don't contribute to design or quality and charge a markup. But yes, IF you're cheapest, fine. You should still know what you're selling though.. in terms of the materials used, given the intended use of this product.

                • @justtoreply: From your quotes regarding contributing to design and quality, I'm getting the vibe you're an engineer as I'm also an engineer.
Contrary to your statements, it is possible to find an overseas supplier with suitable Quality Management Systems (with reputable certification), materials datasheets, MSDS, and lab test results for materials. You certainly need to look harder, but it is possible.
Regarding price, you need to consider the manufacturers markup, shipping fees to Australia (large at the moment), import taxes, packaging, marketing, insurance, accounting, sales etc. That's all before even considering paying anyone in Australia a living wage. These resellers might not be making the margins that you assume they make.

Hypothetically, if I was to do the design, produce injection mold tooling, setup production line, import raw materials etc (even with the help of a contract manufacturer), these products would be WAY more expensive than is possible when leveraging the manufacturing capacity of a large overseas supplier.

                  • @drowe: Sometimes I felt like sellers/owners spent too much time being defensive rather than being receptive to comments and opinions led to their own downfall…

I’d love to support but after these comments, maybe nah…

                  • @drowe: All fair points.

If you want to report my comments and have the thread cleaned up, that's fine with me.

Honestly wouldn't hurt to do a lab test on one though. If you can afford. But you need to know what youre testing for of course.
