Credit Check Failed When Changing Electricity Provider?

Hey guys, need your help to see if anyone experienced this before.

My credit score on Equifax is very good, and I am earning > $150k. I like to change utilities provider every 3 months in order to take advantage of switching credits / gift cards. Recently I have tried changing to Atlinta Energy but got rejected due to a credit check fail.

I am fairly sure this has nothing to do with my credit score, but more likely they are seeing that I am frequent hopper and probably blacklisted me

Did anyone have a similar experience? Or does anyone have any insider info on why I have been rejected?

    Did you try asking them?

They said you failed the credit check?

Do you see the inquiry they made ?

Yes, almost 100% certain this is it.

Sounds like a post just to brag your income

      Exactly.

Income is irrelevant without knowing all debts.

This happened to me once, Checked my Equifax and it was clear, then checked creditsimple (illion) and there was someone else's default listed against my name.
FYI I earned 2 sheep and a flock of geese LY

150K income… 1 mil mortgage debt and $100K on car… income is irrelevant. Flex post

My credit score on Equifax is very good

The score you see on Equifax would be your Comprehensive score which includes CCR information.

Utility providers do not have access to this information so they rely on the ‘negative’ score which only includes things like enquires and defaults. Chances are your negative credit score is not very good due to the number of credit enquires from switching utility providers.

Also, income is not factored into a credit score.

something must be seriously wrong to get knocked back by an electricity provider

Have fun living in the dark on your $150k salary.

We all have a role to play… unfortunately someone had to be cast as the reject in this first world melodrama.

I always imagined people who earn over $150 enjoying their days without having to concoct elaborate voucher/gift card/promo and other cheap a$$ schemes to get by.

I also imagine people who earn over $150.

    • Depends how many ex-wives and kids they've got!

    • Probably lost all their money with Celcius / FTX

  • …and I am earning > $150k.

ha! That explains it. You don't even qualify as "average" here! If you check the previous polls, you'll see that most of us here are on $300K or so.

Salary of $150K only allows you to switch providers once each year.

Since you've been declined, you can obtain a copy of your credit report for free to look what's on there.

Credit scores are made up numbers so that they can sell your data to lenders etc.
every lender has their own internal systems and in this case you didn’t meet their requirements.

Credit scores are as made up as selection criteria on job applications. Some businesses rely on them so much they miss out of potential candidates.

  • I've never checked my credit score (wouldn’t have a clue how to) and have never had trouble getting a loan or a credit card or changing electricity providers.
