What model is the 40" Sony TV? How much after discount?

  • +1

The dishwashing tablets are Cascade brand. I've never heard of it before. How do they perform compared with Finish? What style of Finish tablet is this comparable to? (e.g. Quantum, All-in-one, Classic)

Finish classic tablets are regularly on special at less than 20c ea.

How can you say the tyres are a good price when there is no price provided?

I am interested to see the catalogue however… but this is not a bargain in its current form.

If you know the prices of the Tyres and can show that the final price after the discount is bargain worthy then I'd revoke my neg.

    • +5

Cascade is a well known North American brand - here is a link that I found by using Google.

      http://www.cascadeclean.com/us/cascade/

You can use Google to do your own research to determine if this is a product suitable for your use. The poster is not a rep. of Costco.

      • +3

For the record, my mum much prefers the cascade brand vs finish etc.

    • Was in Costco last week and the prices for Bridgestone 4WD tyres are VERY competitive eg 245/70/16 D697 for $222 without the discount.

  • +2

    no model no or price????
How do you do a comparison?

    • +1

You don't, that's the point… Costco don't want the general public knowing what their prices are, so you have to become a member and run down to your nearest store.

Then, whilst you're there, you might as well stock up on some crap whilst there…….

  • +12

So not only is this not a specific bargain, it's just a catalogue and one with NO prices at that.

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:rules_guidelines

    • Seriously…can't you see the prices??? hint: look at the bottom part of the catalogue as well

      • +4

There's no pricing on the big ticket items like TVs other than how much the discount is.

        • -1

Exactly, but that's NOT "no pricing at all"!

  • +2

This is not a deal, sorry MissBargain. You've mis-bargained.

    • nice one XD

  • Item pricing mainly aimed at large families & you also need to buy in bulk. TBH prices arent much different from Coles & Woolies. Only good for items that have long use-by dates, not so good for food unless you consume alot (mostly dated 2-3days use-by from production).

    • Agree!
P.s. SOME items are are dated 2-3 days use-by from production but not MOST :)
P.s2 my favorite item is the 2kg greek style yoghurt bucket for 5$ ;)

  • +1

There are quiet a few bargains there for the prices that are there. e.g. OMO at $4.40/kg

    • +6

Yes, that does look like a bargain, but the bargain post in its current form is not a bargain.

  • You guys -ve, please think about the weekly coles post. Why you guys not neg them??

    • +2

They have prices. It's a list of bargains.
"Latest Costco Catalogue" is what is posted here…

      • +1

Exactly. The biggest problem with this one is the lack of prices, how can something be considered a bargain if there's no prices listed.

Can you imagine the mess this site would be if every random catalogue from every retailer got posted.

        • I don't even want to know.
OzBargain.com.au + Lasoo.com.au work well as they are.

        • check the catalogue again! this time you might see the prices!

  • Teaser - not a 'bargain'

  • -4

    as above
also dont you need to be a paying memeber to be able to buy?

    • -2

That or one guest accompanied by a member.

      • +1

Lol, why the hell is that getting neg'd?
Yes you need to be a member or a member can take you, how is that incorrect or offensive?

As for the neg'ers, care to inform me as to why you neg'ed?

        • +4

I just don't like the look of your avatar.

    • +1

60$/year (or 55$ for business membership). you can also have an addittional cardholder( must have the same address as the main card holder)
Not everything in Costco is good but i must say i have saved(and spent) lots of $$ in there ;)

    • You need a membership BUT if you cancel within a year you get your money back. The only caveat is you can't rejoin for another year after canceling but you could always get your friend/partner etc. to sign up if needed.

      • Think they would refund you if your card is nearing expiry soon?

        • Yeah why not? There is a giant sign in their membership area that says something along the line if you are not happy then you can get your money back.

        • +9

You & your spouse can alternate memberships:

          Yr #1- Join——> cancel (1yr 'cooling-off period')
          Yr #2- Join——> cancel (1yr 'cooling-off period')
Yr #3- cooling-off for #1 finished, so 'rinse & repeat'
Yr #4- cooling-off for #2 finished, so 'you know the drill'
          Yrs #5+ etc

Possible, but that would be exploiting their system tho…

        • +1

Yep, that's right. That was my plan but then I forgot… membership expired. Probably more of that situation than exploiting membership.

        • What's this cooling off thing?? If I join Nov last year, I can cancel it in October and get my $60 back?? Thx

        • Yeah, as long as it's within 12 months.

  • Let's vote for the deals and not how the deal is written as a mod or the OP can fix the deal. No need to be so rude to new members.

  • IMHO the catalague has some good stuff in it. Isn't it like the coles/woolworths catalogue?
i don't understand why all the negatives!

    • +2

People are negging cause there are no prices for the more expensive items so they can't compare…which is the whole point of OzB, to find a better than normal/best price available anywhere atm for any given product.

      • And the Mods are revoking their votes because even if the most expensive items don't have prices you can still see prices on most of the items and do the comparison

        • I revoked my own vote.

        • Good on you ;)

    • A catalogue in and of itself is not a good bargain to post on OzBargain.
We'd like to see examples of bargains within the catalogue - with price evidence.
      Read the posting guidelines.

      • -1

Based on the +/- ratio i must say that this post(by the way: thank you O.P.) contains more bargains than many other deals posted in OzB
        ALso check this out: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/74433
Where is the price comparison?where is the rrp?where is the % off? Still it can be a good bargain!

        • It has prices in the post. People can do their own comparison.
There is no price for the tyres in the catalogue, so why is it a "good price"?

        • a catalogue can have items with good and bad prices! no price doesn't automatically mean bad price, just like it doesn't mean good price! apart from the tyres and the most expensive products this catalogue has e few bargains, so i wouldn't give it a negative…

  • +2

So does this mean twice a week I can post the Aldi catalogue as a "bargain" instead of the actual products?

    • Costco does not have a catalouge. They just have specials some times. That is the difference.

      • -1

Online or physical, regular or irregular, a catalogue is a catalogue.

        • They are called coupons, now go looking for similarities between coupon and catalouge. Not wasting nay more time on this.

        • +1

You don't need these with you or presented to sales staff to buy at that price, it is not coupons.

  • +5

Only really interested in the big ticket items and without "before" prices this is like an annoying teaser. Hopefully someone can post the price of the 46" Sony tomorrow.

  • -5

I have no problem with a catalogue being the information source of a bargain. A bargain is worth posting if it informs of a price nobody is able to better. This post shows OMO at $4 per kilo, but the provided link shows OMO will cost no less than $43.98 for a 10kg purchase to cardholders. The price in the title is incorrect, about which nothing has been done for 4 hours, despite being edited by a mod for clarity, and many prices on that link are secretive. So it's a neg from me. "Tires are also good price" … how are we to know that?

    • LOL: A mod added the "Cascade Tablets $.22/each, OMO $4/kg" to the title… It wasn't even in the Original Post.

      • You seriously want me (or someone else) to add every special in the small space of a title? Sheesh. Just click the link PJC as you already did.

Personally, I never go by total price, I use unit price/kg price to determine which is the bargain. For something like laundry liquid, it's something a person will always have to do in forseeable future so 10KG is not a big deal.

  • +2

Thanks OP for posting this up. I will be stocking up on beef jerkies and squids.

  • +7

I got really excited for a second … I would swap straight away from my iPad, Android, Google or Kindle Tablet to this amazingly priced Cascade Tablet.

  • No, neil, I do not want, suggest or imply that every special be listed within a title, but I do not want the title we are given to be misleading. Like yourself, I use unit price / kg price to determine bargains. The title clearly says $4/kg, yet the link leads to a page where it works out at $4.39/kg. The price of tyres is praised within the description beneath the title, and that price remains a mystery.

    • OK, changed to $4.39.

    • +3

Im with you there, i actually agree that information should be accurate upon posting. One can not call tyres a deal either if there is no price to work off.
No offense to Missbargain, and thanks for the contribution but hopefully this experience will help make her future postings improved.

  • Think the camera model is this one DSC-HX20V. Cheapest I found it was $425 from Good Guys

  • Costco Docklands is packed!!

    • go there during weekdays not weekend. and if it's possible go there during daytime.

  • +1

Cascade is sold as Fairy at Woolies and Coles and are made by P&G from memory. $#!t$ all over Finish. Quality stuff.

  • +2

All this arguing over dish washing tablets!

    • +2

Hey, with that $5 I could get some sort of burger deal or a USB. This is OB and we bargain.

    • Then you missed the point of the argument.

  • In the defense of Costco, these bargains are intended for members only, and their regular customers would know the regular prices on the bug ticket items.

    • +2

Then we'd like to hear from a member on the prices of the tyres and tvs mentioned in the catalogue.

  • I wish Newcastle had a Costco! :(

  • OMG and I just bought OMO from costco one week ago. FML.

    • +2

Go to the service desk. They will price match and refund you the difference given you only purchased a week ago. Just show them your membership card and they have the purchase on record. No need for receipts etc. That's one good thing about Costco.

      • I think some ppl wouldn't bother doing that unless it was a fairly significant amount (depends on what you deem sig.) &/or you need to go down there anyway to stock up.

        • +7

You know things are serious when they say OMG and FML.

  • +1

Mod: Vote on the bargains listed, not the OP or how the deal is written

what bargains? there are no prices..

    $150 off

    off what??

  • Thread does not match OzBargain's guidelines as per: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:rules_guidelines

Downvote, as no ability to see if listed items on sale in link provided are bargains at all.

    • I know its early in the morning so its hard to see everything clearly.

The listed items are Cascade tablets and Omo powder. In the catalog these are listed as 90ct $24.98 with $5 off & 2 for $49.98 with $6.00 instant savings.

This has all been discussed in one of the off topic threads above if you want to see further info. Other points you raised in report have been replied to separately

  • Anyone know which model Sony 40" TV is on special. Thanks. Price would be a bonus.

  • During mid week, people can go in for free to look. Must sign up to buy

  • +1

I'll get negged for this, but is anyone offended by morbidly obese families stocking up on junk food at Costco? I feel sorry for the children.

    • +1

…"Would somebody please think of the children?!"…

  • Going to Costco tonight - in an email they sent it says the price of the V energy drink is $26.99 rather than the $32.99.
Will check out the models and prices of the TVs too
