  • Is this rooted?

    • That would be interesting. I wonder if anybody has ever reflashed these with a custom OS to make a thin client.

      • I have seen youtube videos of people putting Ubuntu on these

  • Link does not send me to direct page and I can't spot it on the phone? Anyone got the direct link?

Also. How do you control these when plugged into a tv?

    • Through the keyboard and mouse which you supply, I assume.

    • There is a USB port, where you can connect a mouse or keyboard.

      • can you attach both via a bluetooth dongle?

  • So to get this right, it takes USB power but outputs to HDMI?

    • Yeah, it looks like the dongle plugs into an HDMI port on the monitor.

    No mpeg 2 or 4?
Thats the single most popular cheese in the world…

    • +3

Well, I'm afraid we don't get much call for it around these parts.

      • Is it runny?

    • Yeah, got excited until I learnt it didn't have HW decoding. Shame.

  • Input: AC100-240V 50-60Hz
    Output: 5V 2A

I assume this refers to the supplied power adapter?

  • yeah whats the remote and … i dont get it. If this thing runsa android 4 then you can run VLC and play all video formats right? can anyone explain this cause i woulld get one if you can run everything off VLC.

    • Through the keyboard and mouse which you supply, I assume.

SGX530 won't handle 1080p, will struggle with 720p too if the drivers aren't perfect.

looks like a impressive set of specs, but what exactly does it do or supposed to do?

    • +1

A computer you can plug into your TV/Monitor.

    • +2

Think of it as an Android tablet but you have to provide your own screen and input devices.

the usb pic on the site shows that it is for mouse and keyboard…. thats good, but how csn you then also plug in your HDD if you want to access things? then that means you can only slot an micro SD in it which sux if you want this as a media player.. if thats the case then its shit.

    • Haha well said.

      Hub?

      • +1. You should be able to plug up multiple USB devices via a powered hub.

        • Or even an unpowered hub if you are using an AC power source, but definitely a powered hub would solve all of the problems related to lact of usb ports.

Guys, this one is better specs, comeswith 1GB RAM : http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/74337

    • Also costs $10 more.

      • Also comes from AliExpress, no thanks.

      • but you are also getting 1GB RAM, and A10 AllWinner processor… You could buy a 512MB version for about $50.

There are many selling on ebay too, search "MK802".

    • Can you post specs? Can't be bothered with my mobile…

    • be careful it doesn't say wireless n network

  • Description appears to be incorrect. From the pictures, and descriptions on other websites, there is no "Micro SD Card Port". The device has internal (non-removable) flash memory.

Also, the "DC Charging Port" and "Mini USB Port" appear to be the same port.

I highly doubt this is 1ghz, if its the Renesas chip it's the EV2 - 2x533 Mhz Cortex A9 cores. If it is it's the same chipset in the RENA3. Mine had pretty terrible video hardware decoding initially but later firmwares fixed it. Never bothered with 1080p as the screen res was only 800x480 but it played 720p flawlessly with the right firmware.

I bought from TinyDeal before and unfortunately for such basement bargain prices you don't get very good quality, plus they are to happy to replace defective items. My MP4 player would'nt charge and they kept telling me to check my USB even after I told them I tried on 3 separate computers. In the end it was going to cost $27 registered post to send item back which almost doubles the cost. I think alot of these cheap Chinese sellers use this tactic knowing most people wont be bothered paying the return post charges.

PS: IMO - the AlliExpress deal mentioned above is better, you get a higher quality product, plus atleast you can issue a complaint to AlliExpress if item is defective.

    • Thanks a lot for your purchase on TinyDeal.
The MP4 player would'nt charge, and you tried 3 separate computers, i think my colleague try to ask you to check the USB cable, you can test with another one, if it is just the problem of the cable, we can send you a new one.
But if you need to return the item back to us for replacement or refund, as agreed on the returning conditions, the client is in charge of the returning shipping fee.
We test all the products before sending, but we could not control the unexpected damage during the shipement. If you have any problem with the product or our service, complaint on the forums and comment on the deals we post is not a good way to solve the problem. You are warmly welcomed to send us an email to [email protected] at any time, TD customer service team will try the best to help you.
Thank you so much for your understanding.

      • What a load of BS! You take each product out of packaging and test each individually of ALL functions?

      • Customer should not pay return freight when t0product is DOA. Demand the company to arrange pick up or semd you a pre paid satchel to return the items.

  • Vendor does not cover DOA shipment back and sell low quality products

    • Hello, we have our policy on DOA items: http://faq.tinydeal.com/Default/Faq_Info/495
Please read it carefully, if you have any issue with our products, please kindly contact our customer service team.
      Thank you.
