? Spotify Premium?
He's saying that because the title just said 'of Premium' before, it needed fixing.
Premium douche?
11.99 for 3 months for me, with that price/month thereafter.
I got the same offer.
It would appear it's targeted to those without a current subscription, but have had premium in the past.
how much money does my sub actually go towards the artist?
Tidal is way better for the artist, way better sound quality than Spotify, and able to be had way more cheaply with VPN.
tidal has worse sq compaired to any lossless streaming sevice like apple, amazon, qobuz and deezer. also i think they pay the artist based on how much your subcription costs.
This again. Have you done a blind a-b sound test or just parrot all the other audiophiles with a bee in their bonnet and too much time on their hands? There are non MQA versions of albums which are cd quality if you prefer that, not hi res. I agree it's not worth buying a DAC with MQA decoding/unfolding capabilities especially, but may as well use or test it if you have one (sounds like you don't).
@G-rig: Firstly, I do have an MQA capable DAC and did use tidal for about a year. At the time I was new to being an “audiophile” and though that Tidal’s sq was the best and was worth paying extra for. I am now more experienced and know that is not true. I also understand tidal has non MQA tracks but it’s a pain to find them. I haven’t done a blind ab test because it’s not needed, I can’t tell the difference in quality anyway. I am an objective person and know that you pay more for MQA and get objectively worse performance from your music. If it was about sound quality, I don’t think anyone could tell you the difference between the highest quality on Spotify and the highest on tidal. Anyone that knows tidal is worse quality would think its stupid to pay more for tidal when you can get apple music for half the price. I don’t care if you can get it cheaper in some other country, you can also do that for any other streaming service.
Have you done a blind ab test yourself or are you just blindly supporting tidal? Also have you seen any objective measurements of MQA and how the encoder messes up the output?
Thanks@HaydosK: Yeah no worries. What suits one person may not suit another, and with Hi-Fi equipment, streaming & playback it's all a journey to see what works best. There are a wild array of opinions on the internet as well, can learn a lot but also worry about a lot of things that aren't worth worrying about (look at Audiosciencereview forums).
I've got an iFi Zen Dac (and a headphone amp) for my desktop setup. I don't think I bought it for MQA but was happy to test and use it (the device suited my needs without being expensive, and a nice simple solution with USB from PC). A Topping D10S or E30 would have done the trick too. Likewise after reading up on it all I decided I didn't need it for my main DAC as I was interested in outright quality over MQA (RME Adi-2 FS). Wouldn't say I paid more for MQA, some DACs have it and some dont, all various price points. ~$2 a month for TIdal HiFi Plus Family (Brazil) is hardly breaking the bank (don't think you can get spotify cheap easily). So not blindly supporting it and not exactly sweating over it for that price. I've tested Qobuz and it's not that great an experience - limited library, rubbish UI, expensive, slow buffering for massive quality files.
A more direct comparison in AUD would be Tidal HiFi (upto 1411kbps, CD quality) $11.99, same price as Spotify. Would be a harder choice but think I'd still go Tidal. No master anyway, but you can always set the quality to HiFi. It's not that hard to search and save albums without Master in the tag, I've done that with some where there are both formats available. Anyway MQA still translates to my non-MQA DAC fine at 48kHz / 24 bit for example.
I don’t think anyone could tell you the difference between the highest quality on Spotify and the highest on tidal.
Bit of a bold claim trying to say there is zero difference between a 320kbps MP3 and files up to 9216 kbps. It depends a lot on your equipment and ears though, but it's kind of the frequencies you may not be able to hear that makes things sonically better (and not as 'crystalised'). For me CD quality is a good standard and benchmark, not that much to expect these days (good file quality and size), then you don't need to worry about it. I still stream internet radio and soundcloud @160kbps which are fine when not listening intently and whilst working etc. Obviously i appreciate better quality to get the most out of my gear and listening experience.
Why not using 4 months for free via Telstra?
Maybe they aren't with Telstra?
And kinda makes it not free if paying for Telstra
How would one do this without a Telstra service? There are millions of us out there :)
Time to cancel and use another email address again
Annoying when you have multiple devices signed in
Wouldn't remember any of your algorithms starting a new account I assume.
Nothing that premium about 320kbps. Shame there is no likelihoods of lossless.
Also recommend Tidal for better sound quality and the library is pretty extensive, very cheap via the right subscriptions. Have tested Qobuz, good to play a few very high res samples from common (mainstream albums like the Eagles), the highest bitrate tracks take longer to buffer, library is Much more limited, UI not great and expensive.
Just test and compare them all for yourself.
"Wouldn't remember any of your algorithms starting a new account I assume."
Oh no, they can't track me as well if I do that.
No need to be paranoid, it's more about discovering similar artists to what you listen to with radio mode etc. No point to keep making new accounts every few months.
I am hoping for a cheap deal on Tidal or Deezer this Christmas. With the right software you can actually download permanent lossless copies of the music you like.
Tidal is always cheap if you have a VPN to sign up. The downloading of FLAC via third party open source software isn't legal but fun to test. I don't mind having my own collection (ripped a lot of cds back in the day), but kind of easier just streaming these days. Bit like hoarding a heap of DVDs, 720-1080p movies and stuff, all low quality and redundant when you can just stream it in better quality these days.
I don't mind the idea of saving your very favorite music for 'offline playback' in case they remove content etc, not really worth it for all the mainstream stuff though IMO.
Qobuz has limited library but it’s just because it not well known. apple music, amazon music and Deezer have a bigger library and are lossless.
Free for life if you have an Android phone LOL.
How? Any hacks?
Xmanager ;)
Mobilism. Also has YouTube Revanced
iPhone users can do this too just with a bit more maintenance
How?
how? how? how?

This CC business is very annoying.
what is cc business?
Use a prepaid visa debit card or similar
A disposable one time use credit card is the way to go. Zip and Revolute have this as a free service.
Some of major banks are beginning to offer digital cards that have the CVC changing daily also.
Middle finger to spotify!
exactly.. expensive for mp3 quality, with no intention of ever bring out cd quality at least.
Then don't use Spotify. There are plenty of options if they aren't for you.
Most people couldn't care, hence it's popularity, the ones that do care can opt for another service. All good - I don't and never have. Tidal, YouTube, YouTube music, sound cloud, own flac library is enough.
It seems to be aimed at the masses not those focused on SQ, just saying it's a shame they haven't come out with hi-fi (cd quality) by now - would be the perfect logical bundle if paying extra for 'premium'
@G-rig: Premium just means no ads for Spotify, not in reference to the audio quality, I think most that use Spotify are well aware of that.
I use Spotify with friends on a family account, so we all pay next to nothing that way.
I don't usually listen to music unless I'm jogging, and quality is the last thing on my mind in that environment.
Anyway, it sounds like you've got your music sorted :)@SimAus007: Yeah aware of that, was just saying it would be a nice to have. Suppose it's similar price to youtube premium these days.
Just saying it's not great value but personally I can't stand ads so probably alright if it's your primary music streamer. YouTube music quality doesn't sound Thai fantastic but alright for free with youtube premium for use with smart home speakers (use it for a couple of channels I follow).
@G-rig: Yeah, perhaps they could call it "Premium +" or something like that :)
@SimAus007: next things would be "premium + pro"
@SimAus007: Was going to be called Hi-fi, but it's not planned now indefinitely.
I use an app called YouTubeVanced which has a YouTubeMusicVanced app as well. Both remove ads (as well as adding in features like visible dislike count, ability to skip some in-video ads reported by other viewers, etc).
I use it rather than paying for premium music streaming these days as it's just as good (if not better in many ways such as better (google powered) music recommendations and lyrics (for some) songs) and it's free.
You need to sideload it (on android) as google play store don't host it for obvious reasons and I don't think you can get it on iPhone at all, but if you have an android, it is absolutely worth it and saves a bunch of money over the course of a year.
Premium…. what?
