Thanks ezarc!, I would have gone for a cheaper brand, but with this deal I get the much better Bridgestones at a lower cost than 4 of the cheapies!

Thanks OP, now just need to hold out for the rest of the car.

  • Can i return my recently fittes tyres to costco??

    • No

      • Damn

    • +2

      😂

    • Why the hell would you even ask that ? Bloody tight arse !

      • Lol

    • maybe, just ring up and ask. the worse is they'll say no.

      let us know afterwards :)

  • +1

Ouch the inflation is real, I checked my last invoice where I paid $800 for 4x Michelin Pilot Sport 4 Tyres (245/40R18) in 2018. Now RE003s which were a worse performing tyre in my experience especially in the wet are close to $900 even with this deal.

    • Funny enough shipping costs have decreased now and are back to pre pandemic levels

Oil prices seem to be heading lower as well

      • There'll be a delayed price correction for sure

    • Other places sell that size for $247 (supercheap, tyroola etc) and Bridgestone have a price match guarantee that they will beat any local prices by 10% so you could take another $24.70 or so off that price per tyre. That would be about $666 for a set of 4 if they are happy to match/beat prices.

From what I understand most tyre prices were going up around 50% at the start of this year. And as for the RE003s they should have better grip than the PS4s in the dry once they are warmed up a little due to the treadwear rating, Ive never had a problem with mine in the wet but I have read people complain about it and others say they are just as good in the wet as they are in the dry and others again only complain they arent great in the wet when they are near needing replacing.

I'd really like "tyre reviews" on YouTube to review them and compare them in different conditions as he does with other tyres, I might send him a message and see if he can get his hands on them.

      • +1

        Treadware rating is completely unregulated.

        Watch tyrereviews dot com

PS4 is the allrounder king time and time again.
RE003 has terrible wet weather performance. It's close to a semi-slick yet it doesn't deliver semi-slick dry grip. There's a reason it's such a cheap performance tyre.

        • PS4s even better, but in short supply and bit more $$ than PS4

I couldn't find any PS4s in my size so had to go for set of AD09s this week

          • @mrfuku: What about PS5?

            • @Pudina Chutney: PS5 is pretty much PS4 but better, but from my understanding a step below PS4S.

Wanted all out dry performance so went for the AD09 over PS5.

    • Worst of all, RE003 is a tyre has been around since 2015 or 2016. Why RE004 is not in Australia is anyone's guess. We're paying more for an old design.

      • Confirm - I fitted my first set in mid 2015.

      • +1

Being around since 2015 makes absolutely #@$% all difference. Take the Pzero for example… Still one the best all-round performance street tyres on the market.
If you're already at the forefront of technology, there's not too much further you can go in a short space of time. Especially when it comes to having to use specific materials.
As for tread designs, what, the computers were wrong 5-7 years ago and today they can do a better job?
There's nothing worse than companies making change for the sake of change… And a lot do it simply because of market perception. E.g. Your comment.
New is not necessarily better just because it's different, and 2 is not always better than 1.
Not that I am involved in the industry anymore, so I honestly have no idea why the 004 has not been released in our market. But there could be a number of reasons.

        • The RE003 are a quality tyre (I got a set in 2016. Buy 3, get one free combined with the AMEX $125 rebate was a bargain) but surely the RE004 is better.

Much better? Unlikely. Incrementally better, yes.

I'm sure Bridgestone wouldn't design and release a new tyre if it wasn't better.

And over time these incremental improvements make big differences.

    • What , you needed to be told !

  • +1

Still no RE004 after 2.5 years in other countries? lol

    • +1

Pretty sure I saw Bridgestone reply to a post on their Facebook page a little while back saying they have no plans to launch the RE004 in Australia :/

      • Any idea what the reason was?

        • Bridgestone said that the RE003 is the latest design for Australia and if you want a higher performance tyre to consider the Potenza Sport

          • +1

@ezarc: More like consider a different brand (Michelin Pilot Sport 4) lol

            • +1

@Fobsessive: And even Michelin Pilot Sport 5 is out now!

            • +2

@Fobsessive: Don't get me wrong, the PS4 is a great all-round tyre. But I wouldn't go as far saying it's better performance orientated than the Potenza Sport.
That's why you go 4S. Or in my case, the Cup2 if you want to match it. (Cup2R is next level again… obviously!)

  • Ouch 225/50R17 $315 each wtf

Note Turanza Serenity Plus 50k km guarantee

    • Fitment and Wheel Balancing
    • Road Hazard Warranty
    • Bridgestone benefits

Glad I got my Pirellis for $127 each

    • +1

That's an odd profile, I think, so probably why more expensive?

    • Why? Because IMO (actually, not even my opinion, it's a fact) they're the king dingers of comfort and low noise. Bridgestone know it too.

    • Lol mate I just paid $1800 for 4x PS4 😩

  • +1

Damn, no Serenity Plus in the deal :(

  • were these the ones that had a small drop in quality?

  • +3

Done 40,000 KMS on my Ecopias now and need replacing.

They're very average tyres compared to my previous Turanza Serenity PLus which lasted over 50K easily and the noise and comfort levels were on a whole other level.

The Ecopias are especially disappointing in wet weather. Wouldn't recommend them.

    • That's because the Ecopia is a "fuel saving" tyre.

It's aim is less friction and drag than other tyres - if you're interested in noise, comfort, and wet weather performance, then these are entirely the wrong choice.

      • What are the benefits of the Serenity plus are they any good?

        • +1

All tyres are a compromise, if you want maximum grip it's not going to have the longest life. If you want minimum noise it's not going to have the best grip.
If you want minimum cost then it's not going to have… anything.

Generally I find a "sporty" tyre from a major manufacturer works well for me - they never last particularly long, but I value maximum grip in wet and dry - so that's a tradeoff I'm OK with.

Choose what works for you 👍 The "Serenity Plus" is marketed as quiet and comfortable…

    • You may try Michelin Energy MX2+. I used to have Ecopia that I replaced with Michelin Energy MX1+ (then) 4 years ago still 3/4 threads left after 60K kms. I think there is now a promotion tru Bob Jane T-Marts with $50 or $100 cash back depending on tryre size if buy 4 including tyre change balance and disposal the old tyres. It is much cheaper than Ecopia. I never ever go back Ecopia after Michelin Energy and sure MX2+ even better than MX1+ tyres.

    Just wanted to share.
I have re003s. They feel safe and handle well, but I must say that they wear quickly. Used 50 percent over a year standard suburban driving

Pirelli tyres half price sale (BlackFriday) from myCar proven to be the cheapest price for quality tyres.
I bought 2*Pirelli tyres half price from mycar last blackfriday, installed in January this year.
This black friday another 2 for half price, same tyres. $500 for 4. 225/65/17 Pirelli scorpion verde all season

  • Dang… no Turanza… In need of one!

    • In need of one!

Out of curiosity, what were you going to do…
Buy 3 tyres, get the 4th one for free, then try return the original 3? 😉

      • If your a tight arse, maybe

    • Guessing you've had some sidewall damage that couldn't be puncture repaired? Happened to me and it's best to get rotate the remaining good tyre to spare and get a couple of matching tyres instead of a single. This of course valid only if you've got a full-size spare and if you don't, look for 1 at a wrecker :)

  • Once you get a set of new tyres, do you rotate it every 10000km? Is it necessary to spend the extra amount every six months to get a wheel alignment?

    • +1

Once you get a set of new tyres, do you rotate it every 10000km?

Yes, but only so that you can spread the wear around the tyres, so that next time you can replace all 4 at the same time and get 1 free again.
If you don't rotate, you'll be replacing in pairs only.

Is it necessary to spend the extra amount every six months to get a wheel alignment?

No. Once you have your wheel alignment setup ok it'll stay that way for many years until you hit a pothole or something else to knock it out of alignment.

  • Does ozbargainers follow the tyre service schedule after ordering 4 new tyres from Bridgestone? Do people find bob Jane is slightly cheaper than Bridgestone but the regular service schedule cost more in bob Jane compare to Bridgestone? Is it only worthwhile to get your tyre serviced if your car tyres are premium, more than $250 per tyre?

    • Sorry what is a "tyre service" ?

      • After you install 4 new tyres, bridgestone or bob Jane will give you a tyre service booklet, like the one you use for servicing car, every six months or 10000km, they do tyre rotation and may do wheel alignment.

        • +1

Well then it's up to you - if you're not happy to do the rotations yourself, then pay them to do it 🤷🏼‍♂️

  • price went up sharply, not sure if it's just BS

    215/60R16

    • 5 years ago installed Ecopia range made in Japan tyres, buy 3 get 1 free deal , was $119 ea plus $60 wheel Alignment, total cost $417

    • 1.1 year ago installed Turanza Serenity Plus, buy 3 get 1 free deal, was $159 plus $65 wheel Alignment, total cost $542-

Now you need to pay $185ea for Ecopia and $199ea for Serenity Plus, work out to be $620 and $662 in total respectively.

Ecopia increased 55% comparing to 5 years ago

Turanza Serenity Plus increased 25% comparing to 1.1 years ago

And do not forget to price match with costco

    • How was your experience with Turanza Serenity Plus?
      Especially in wet conditions?
