Thought this was a good deal for 4 first books of the series. These are the book that the HBO series are based on so quite a good read IMO.

I'd love to have the 7 book set (with books 3 and 5 split in half) but difficult to argue with half the price for the first 4.
Shipping is a shame for this set, books can be bought locally for ~$10, as I've already got book one it takes away the special for me.

If you're waiting for him to finish the series before you read, you'll be waiting for a very long time, seen as how he took around 5+ years for one book
Yes, but hopefully the popularity of the tv series and some pushing from the television producers might encourage him to devote a little more time to writing than he has previously given.

No one really knows how many books are left.
A song of ice and fire originally was going to be a trilogy then the books were getting too big and so the first third of book 3 was meant to be the end of book 2. Then book three got cut down (and the cut down version is also available in 2 parts) and suddenly it was a 5 book series.
Now it is meant to finish after book 7 but the author has already said who knows what's going to happen when he turns the book in to his publisher and they tell him it's too long and has to be cut in to two books. This could well be a 10 book series not to mention the dozen or so novellas that hr's written.
This deal have been around for a while, and I was tempted to buy it at one stage.
However, if you read the reviews, there are quiet a number of people complaining about the quality of the books. Talks about the pages falling off, and sections missing :(
The print size is tiny - they are very cheap quality.
Nice. I took advantage of the book depository sale and got all 6 books. Books 1 - 5 (Book 3 split into 2 parts) for under $50.
As weird as it sounds, I preferred the editions without Sean Bean on the front of first book…
