  • Cans or bottles - not that it matters much anymore but Aus better than China I guess

Cans are Japan are they not..?

To me they taste completely different.

EDIT: Welp just found out they brew the cans in Aus now… sad

It’s now made in Australia. I checked all the stock at my local Liquorland none are made in Japan

500ml cans now produced here 😥
          Photo proof

These 330ml bottles have been brewed here by CUB for years.

When my last Japan brewed cans are drunk, no more Asahi Super Dry for me! (Until I return to Japan.)

          • @INFIDEL: Wonder how long this has been in place? I bought a slab back in Feb/March and I'm sure it was still Japanese produced.

            • @TazBargainer: Reportedly some time this year.
Maybe coincided with first ever change in Japan to Asahi Super Dry recipe.

As one of world's largest brewers, they modify the local brews to local tastes.

Received Japanese brewed cans earlier this year from CUB.
Some Japanese cans were likely being imported by CUB until local production was able to handle demand.

There is often debate in Asahi Deals where the cans are produced. A comment last year claimed 500ml cans are brewed here. There was no support for that. Or other claims cans were from Vietnam or China.

Some Asian stores import direct from other countries. So some Japanese stock should be available - at a price.

        • The 500 ml cans are brewed in Japan . bought some last week.

Can’t believe I had to find this news out on ozbargain too 😭😭😭😭😭

      Cases of 24 x 330ml bottles

      Brewed by CUB in Melb.
Asahi bought CUB, after producing bottled Asahi here. Now the 500ml cans are being produced here.

3 for $140 less 10% discount, 2000 Flybuys points, cashback & Amex offer.

    • REPORTED to ease confusion.
Updated Title to 330ml bottles, it's not the 500ml cans many have enjoyed.

      Made in Oz!

Lol! Seems correctly pointing out this is made locally by Asahi who bought CUB, earned me 5 negs in 5 comments😋

      • Yeah, well if they want to drink Kirin instead, they can go and buy Tooheys New.

  • plus 2000 ($10) flybuys pts, plus Amex $10, plus cashback $1

  • Was $34ea delivered from ebay 2 days ago!

Deal missed yesterday's 20% off SB Deal

  • Damn, for such a good price, it is indeed tempting!

    • Has been much cheaper this week for these Australian produced bottles. See above.

As a long time drinker of Japan brewed Asahi Super Dry - I'd prefer not drinking this. It's a different tasting beer.

      • There's more to Australia than just NSW and Victoria though (crazy, I know!)

    • +1

Agree it's a great price. The only problem is I'm stuck with three cases of Asahi if I buy it. 🤮

Praying for an uncapped cashback soon - got a large order to place!

  • Getting 2* free Asahi 400ml in Melbourne CBD every weeks

  • If anyone wants $5 off per case, please pm me.

Ohhh and I had Monsuta beer the other night. It was better than Asahi! Brewed in Japan

  • This is the only time we are complaining about something made in australia…..yes, the japanese tastes way better
