BFASAHI

Surprised this wasn't listed already, searched for Asahi deals and nothing mentioned eBay active.

500 units total,

Since this is CUB, it's likely made in Australia. I think.

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2022

I have ordered from Asahi from CUB before, and confirm these are made in Aus.

    • +1

      oh…..no

    • +1

CUB do sell the Japan brewed Asahi cans. Have ordered many cases. The bottles are the inferior tasting local brew.

      • Funny that because I've every time I've ordered the cans made in Japan they taste like ass due to the shipping process and age of the beer. The bottles that were brewed in china for a period were pretty rubbish but I've found the locally CUB brewed ones to be fine.

I don't disagree though that drinking fresh Asahi in Japan is another level altogether.

Drunk Asahi Super Dry regularly in Japan & Japan brewed cans here. Much the same taste. A good beer, but certainly not the best.

Far better taste than these bottles. Tried the bottles when given them, but wouldn't bother buying them.

See earlier Deals for similar recommendation.

The Asahi Super Dry recipe changed earlier this year in Japan.
Asahi change the taste to different markets like here. They've owned CUB for a while.

cans made in Japan they taste like ass due to the shipping process and age of the beer

I don't have your ass or arse tasting experience😉 Maybe that affects your taste.
Shipping time is not likely to adversely affect the taste as much as you claim. Seems you got a bad batch?

🌡32C Drinking an ice cold Japan brewed Asahi Super Dry now🍺 Ahh!

        • Wouldn't go that far, but for my taste, and at least one youtube reviewer's, the Chinese brewed bottles were "better" than the Japanese cans (think he actually reviewed Chinese and Japanese cans from memory). Still have a dozen or so of the 500ml Japanese brewed SD cans and to say it's an underwhelming beer is an understatement. Refreshing, esp on a hot day but a so so beer at best. Good deal for the price though.

@Igaf: For years, I've drunk the Japanese brewed cans. Only a few left in my fridge.
Those are being phased out here.

Yes, refreshing ice cold. Not much taste. It's an OK beer, not a great beer.

Everyone has different tastes, experiences & preferences
For me its a taste I know well after a long soak in an Onsen in Japan. So its a very personal preference. But I don't like the taste of the local product.

Asahi brew differently for different markets. So not surprisingly, some prefer their local product, brewed for their taste & to accompany local food.

Even in Japan, the recipe has changed for the first time.
We have a version developed for & only sold in Oz. The Asahi Soukai Premium Beer (mid strength).

            • @INFIDEL: Agree with most of that BUT the 500ml Japanese cans often undeservedly imo raved about on Ozbargain usually attract an equally undeserved premium price.

              • -1

@Igaf: Unlike Japanese Whiskey price hikes… due to high demand & little supply to meet unexpected Foreign demand for Age Specified stock… Definitely an undeserved premium price.

                Not so with this beer…
Asahi Super Dry 500ml can price rose after CUB was taken over by Asahi. Cheaper imports & competition dried up. Asahi took control of pricing & local production.
It was warned about in comments. Not due to hyped comments or inflated demand.

                3 years ago, a case of 24 x 500ml (12L) could be delivered at a reasonable price - around $40. (~$3.33/L) That's when it became popular & I started drinking it.

Before that prices were generally much higher or were for 350ml cans! So hype & popularity didn't increase the price.

Still can find around around $50 (found today for $53 after cashback). Didn't buy as would likely be local brewed. Bought a very different beer.

Can't see that ~$4.20/L (equivalent to $33.33 for 24 x 330ml) for this beer is an undeserved premium price.

  • Thanks OP, decent price xmas beers

  • Thanks OP.

  • Thanks op got one. My stock is running out 😀

  • Got one too. Thanks op

  • Good price!

  • Cuz they don't ship to WA

  • Item doesn't post to you. :( WA

  • Hope it’s the jap stuff

    • +1

It's not :c Drinkable at this price though

  • Waiting for Pure Blonde to go on sale…

    • So you can decide not to buy it?

  • +1

    $1.41 per bottle noice

  • +4

The Aussie made one is just terrible, I struggled to get through it the last time CUB sold it cheap

    • Saw this comment after making the purchase. How bad can it be?!

      • +3

Not bad enough for such drama.

        • +2

Agreed pizza guy, its fine especially at $34 a case. People get particularly elitist about this beer whenever deals are posted.

The Sapporo cans brewed in Vietnam however are a whole different matter haha. May as well have come from the Rivet factory.

  • Asahi yum yum

    • Yum? Not worth drinking compared to Japan brewed Asahi in 500ml cans

      • +1

Seriously mate it's $34, take a chill pill.

        • -1

Was not commenting about price, but taste. Have got these free previously.

As regular Asahi Super Dry drinker here & in Japan, opinion about the taste was the same! Drinking Japan brewed now🍺

Difference in taste is frequently commented on in Asahi Deals.

          • -2

@INFIDEL: Imaging getting free beer and saying it's 'not worth drinking' - may as well hand in your Ozb badge, while you're at it hand in your beer drinking badge too.

            • -1

              @Canberralad92: It wasn't.

Had plenty of Japan brewed to enjoy. Stocked up on 24 x 500ml Japan brewed Asahi Super Dry cases for just a bit more that this 24x 330ml Deal.
eg most recent $50 delivered 24 x 500ml Japan brewed Asahi Super Dry was cheaper per L.

So could compare both brews at same time.

Gave local brewed away to someone who had never drunk Japanese brewed. They seemed happy with it.
              Enjoy yours.

Rather drink better beer. Japan brewed Asahi Super Dry is better🍺

        • -1

          Seriously mate it's $34

          $34… for 7.9L
Making that price DEARER (per L delivered) than any 24 x 500ml Japan brewed Asahi Super Dry I've bought.

eg $50 for 12L was cheaper per L.
Usually stock up around $43-$48 delivered, using promo codes or cashback!

Unfortunately, some 500ml cans are being produced here now
          Time to change beers🍻

      • Just noticed thats Aus brewed. Need to taste it first then

        • -1

Even confuses staff at bottle shops.
Carton shows "Japans #1 beer". Bottles show brewed in Oz. Asahi owns CUB.

But even the 500ml cans that were previously imported from Japan, are being produced here

Just ordered some stout (1/2 price) to wash away that bitter taste.

          • +1

@INFIDEL: Yep, the last slabs of 500ml cans I got from First Choice and Liquorland were both brewed under license in Australia :(

            • @ClownDog: brewed under license… brewed at Asahi owned CUB.
              How did they taste?

No more Asahi for me until I return to Japan. Luckily there are plenty of other beers to drink until then🍺

              • @INFIDEL: I only had a couple of cans while at a Xmas picnic in the sun and they seemed fine. I've still got a few of the Japan brewed cans hidden at the back of the fridge so I look forward to doing a side-by-side comparison sometime soon.

        • Accidentally bought the 500 ml can made in Australia from Liquorland. It taste diluted, I would stay away from Asahi unless it's imported.

Given the price of the imported Asahi, I also started to think maybe I should try for affordable excellent taste locally made beer.

          Any recommendation?

  • bought 1 thx op…

  • Code no longer working, OOS?

  • OOS now

  • OOS

  • probably said already but the CANS are better.

  • Drinking the bottles/CANS in Japan is better than in Australia.

  • back in stock, but the code BFASAHI doesn't work :(
