Today, I went to the beach. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back!

      • +20

If she was already at the beach, wouldn’t she be able to hear the ocean without holding the shell to her ear?

jv aced twice in the same post. Hahaha. He should’ve stayed at the beach.

      • what has this got to do with rice cooker. Have you been in underground car parks too long sniffing petrol fumes…..

I have been looking at getting a small rice cooker for travelling. Ideally one that is light and can fit in a hand carry suitcase. Has anyone tried this type of rice cooker before and would you recommend it?

    • Do you also pack some uncooked rice in your suitcase?

      • +12

Yes. Usually 2 cups, pre-measured and put in a freezer bag which I store in the rice cooker bowl so that when I get to the hotel I can just open it up, wash the rice, fill water up to the right line and start cooking.

With young kids, I find it's easier to do this and grab chicken nuggets from McDonald's to get the kids fed quickly on the first night away, rather than driving around after a long drive/flight and trying to find a place they will eat at. Much less stressful.

There is something about a cheap, brandless, Chinese non-stick coating that makes me apprehensive…

  • this would be good camping on a powered site

  • How much rice does this cook in one go, does.anyone know? Is it 1standard cup?

  • If anyone owns this, could you give a small review with pros and cons?
