(I couldn't find the exact specs for this laptop's screen. Harvey Norman product description saying —->> Explore games in greater detail with the sharp visuals of a 17.3 or 15.6-inch FHD IPS display. Enjoy smooth, blur-free gameplay with a 144Hz 165hz refresh rate and a 3ms response time. We've boosted the screen-to-body ratio to 80% with narrow 7.02mm bezels and provide lifelike colours using a 72% NTSC, 300 nits panel..

But the reviews are saying the 144Hz panel got 64% of the sRGB color gamut and 45.4% of the DCI-P3. So, confirm with the store before buying.

From Jarrod's review I found that the laptop chassis is full plastic, hinge is not that sturdy (its not that bad) and the battery capacity is 57.5Wh battery. ( Max 3 hours running on battery).

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2022

    New body.

    • But can it deal with the thermal output of an 12th Gen i9 mobile processor?

      • I don't know.

Actually an okay machine from acer for once, Ive shit on the nitro plenty of times before but this years nitro 5 hold itself well for a budget gaming laptop. Compared to a similiar priced intel x15 nuc machine, you do lose out of the nice panel, but with the 2022 sku of the nitro 5, you actually get full powered 3060, plus a static mux switch giving you plenty of performance. Cooling is alright and as for the cpu, I wouldnt really be that worried about thermals. Because this specifc 'i9' is just a slightly better binned 12700H hence the higher clocks, it is otherwise functionally the same as the 12700H in power limits and everything, the sad thing is just like the i7 you get locked out of the voltage control (intel have disabled undervolting on all chips except HX/HK ones, not even this i9 gets it because its 12900H).

With that said acer cant seem to fix their braindead practice of putting in a single stick of 16gb ram instead of giving users 2*8gb forcing you to get another 16gb stick for dual channel locking out a lot of the performance otherwise. So F U acer.

I'm at Harvey Norman and actually the screen is FHD 165Hz 3ms 72 % NTSC. Its a winner

    • Can you confirm the charger specs? Im going to bomb acer HQ if they gave it a 180w brick again.

      • +2

Its 230w and looks very small. Compared to alienware and legion bricks

        • 230w should be more than fine then.

      • +1

I think for the Acer 12th gen

        3060 = 230W powerbrick
        3070 = 280W powerbrick

  • Good deal however less appealing when you realise the i9 is very similar to an i7 and you have to buy another ram stick for dual channel.

    I purchased the Nitro I5 11400h model.
The battery gets about 30 mins.
I can only imagine what it would last with a i9 !

Otherwise i got a cheap deal on 32gb ram to upgrade from the single sodimm
    and a extra 1tb NVME + 2tb mx500

    Pretty happy with it otherwise

    I purchased it guys.

    • Hi how is the laptop and which store did you buy it from, I visited 2 stores to view before buying and they only had old models on display. Is the screen good?

  • Any idea if this charges using usbc?

    • +1

      Yes Only 15w though :(

    • +1

Yes, but only 15w, you cant do anything on it without it dropping charge rapidly and its not feasible as legions etc with 100w+ of PD charging.

      • Sorry i meant use usbc to charge this laptop instead of having to bring the brick charger along :D

        • +1

Yes you can use USB C to charge it, but it only charges at 15w so unless you are not planning on shutting it down while it charges you will just lose charge albeit at a slower rate.

  • Pretty response. Ok when you mentioned legions you meant something like this mate?

    https://www.lenovo.com/au/en/p/laptops/legion-laptops/legion-5-series/legion-5-gen-7-(15-inch-amd)/82re0050au?cid=all:sem:rtqi38&gclid=Cj0KCQiAj4ecBhD3ARIsAM4Q_jGtSFus8zIRUgb_ofeb092sr8Mf9Ni6E2E6k1Hagz1qQG7AHLWplnUaAi0DEALw_wcB#

    • Thats a legion alright. but its a 3050ti which fares horribly against a 3060.

Legions are great but these pricings they are at right now is not great at all.

  • This vs the Kraken M15 Q Lite GeForce RTX 3060 Gaming Laptop.

    Around the same price range.

Mainly looking to use it for PCVR and BigScreen VR (Quest 2).

    • +2

Specs in this would be better and the worse screen doesnt matter as much as you would use a vr heatset anyways.

        Cheers buddy! 🍻

    ok ordered.
Just need to figure out the bonus COD offer. Haven't played a COD in 15 years should be good?

  • If anyone buys this and wants to sell me the cod key please let me know!

    • +1

Much better screen but worse specs which at that price better save up to get an external monitor, 17' is not really portable anymore anyways. 1.8k is also fast approaching 3070 laptop range that its not that worth it.

  • just wanted to confirm if this nitro will run 2 external monitors , 1 HDMI, 1 thunderbolt? As I got last years model and it only has hdmi.

    • +1

      Yes

  • +1

I also got one last week, this also has ddr5 ram 4800mhz

  • How would Genshin Impact run on this laptop?
