  • It was only $39 last time, but that didn't include delivery. So, delivery is $16 I guess, seems a tad steep.

Also, only "worth" $100 last time with 3 foil centrepieces:

$39 package of 50 helium-filled pearl or standard balloons plus three foil balloon centrepieces (value $100).

    • Very observant and thanks for the comment. Last deal was standard balloons this deal includes metallic/pearl and high shine balloons, quality is much better. Delivery is included in this deal a 30km delivery charge you might be aware these days is not cheap but we try our hardest to provided an affordable deal. And a $10 Store Voucher to use on anything in store is also included in this deal. Cheers

      • OP please do not uncheck rep tag for comments.

  • sorry to be petty, but what is the percentage of helium tanks you fill with?

    • BOC balloon gas is 97% helium. Whether these guys "water it down" or not is another story.

With Helium being so precious at the moment, maybe you can save the balloons and sell them on later for a premium (this is a joke..)

WATCH OUT FOR THE CARBON TAX!

    • I heard that tax is full of hor air.

      • Well. No. lol.

No, I mean literally, it takes a lot of electricity to produce helium.

Thus the Carbon Tax is something to watch out for. In some places carbon costs a whopping $146 a tonne overseas.

Ethically this really shouldn't be supported. For all interested in helium stocks running low:

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2012/mar/18/helium-party-b…

If anyone needs balloons for a party, air suffices just fine.

    • Is the Guardian a reputable newspaper?

Reading that article, it's not explained why exactly the facility did not have helium in the facility for three days.

There is general discussion of it being a limited resource and a claim that using it for parties is wasteful.

But in the end, it isn't said that the facility was without helium:
      - because it is expensive
      - because it was not available

Also, have other scientists had this problem? What was the cause cited in their cases? :S

… it's also not said if anyone did anything, to ensure the facility would have adequate helium at the time of the experiments

I'm not saying which way it went, just that the 2 main points of the article haven't been linked by the writer … there's only an implication the two are linked

      • Balloon gas / helium shortages seem to be pretty common but I think it's just bad planning or unexpected peaks of demand. If there really was an ongoing supply problem the price would go through the roof and people would pretty quickly stop using it for balloons.

Apparently the large hadron collider uses "a year's supply" of helium and has been known to leak. That could be the single reason in itself.

    • I blame the carbon tax!

I reckon we should start a campaign for a Helium tax!

    • Thankyou, I learnt something.

  • What's with all the balloon deals lately?

    • +10

      Inflation. :p

    • it's all the same company,

You'd think the shipping would be really cheap. After all, how much do 50 helium filled balloons weigh?

    • +6

Good point, with the negative weight they should nearly be paying you for delivery!

You probably get cheaper freight if you bundle them with a deckchair! :)
