used my store cash from my tcl tv purchase :)
Every Seagate HDD I ever bought has failed.
Every one I have bought is still going strong.
It seems to be the luck of the draw …
4TB drives were $99 for years, both portable and powered ones. Have a whole stack of them. Shame it doesn't seem to be going down in price anymore.
Are 2.5 inch ssd drives more reliable for photo storage than these?
Shouldn't make a real difference. I always thought 3.5" drives were more resilient in general but can't back that up with anything.
Either case, make sure you have backups and backups of backups. Use the 3-2-1 strategy.
My second backup wd hdd has corrupted so yeah I think I'll do three copies of the best pictures and store one offsite. Im also thinking a bigger 3.5 drivebackup might be worth it.
Portable weren't. 160-200 was common price.
I regret not pulling the trigger on a silver Seagate portable 5TB for $97 which was posted in one of the comments here.
Definitely not that high.
