NIU KQi3 Max Electric Scooter $1278 + Delivery ($0 C&C/in-Store) @ Harvey Norman

100

First deal, please be nice.

have been looking for a long range commuter electric scooter for some time and came across this NIU brand on the JB Hi-Fi website.

A quick google search leads to a number of good reviews on the NIU models.

For example this one from Electric Scooter Guide
https://electric-scooter.guide/reviews/niu-kqi3-max-electric…

JB Hi-Fi is selling KQi3 Max for $1399 (down from SRP $1749)

https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/niu-kqi3-max-electric-kic…

Harvey Norman has the same model in store for $1278

https://www.harveynorman.com.au/niu-kqi3-max-electric-kick-s…

48V 450W/900W motor with dual disc brakes + regenerative brake, self healing tyres and up to 65km range appears to be superior to the Segway models in a similar price range.

2 year warranty is a plus as well. I believe Segway only offers 1 year warranty on their models.

Gonna pick up one from nearby Harvey Norman store tomorrow.

Key features:

Maximum comfort with extra wide handlebar and deck

Powerful 450W brushless motor, maximum, 900W

48V Lithium-ion battery system with 7th NIU Energy™ smart battery management system

Up to 25km/h top speed and 65km range

9.5" x 2.5" self healing extra wide puncture resistant pneumatic tubeless tyres

Front disc brake + Rear disc & regenerative electronic brake system

Stay smart with the NIU smart app

  • Better get a genuine scooter instead

    • +1

they look pretty genuine to me. New brand for OZ but NIU has been around for some time, also listed in Nasdaq.

  • +2

Why not price match at JB then y get it cheaper and y get to avoid your money ending up in Gerry’s pocketses

    • online only at JB for some reason

TGG also has this model in store

      • I was wrong to characterize him as comparable to Gollum.

He’s prolly more akin to Shelob.

  • +1

Don't waste money on these average scooters, commuting get a ninebot max / xiaomi pro2, for everything else get a kaabo / zero 10 series.

    • +2

Meh, my ninebot max recently melted and their support were craptastic. I ended up taking it back to the retailer after 6 weeks of stuff arounds.

If anything else is average compared to that, I'll just walk. I mean, I'll be walking anyway, but those things are a bastard to push.

  • +1

I bought my Max today from HN after JB Commercial stuffed me around for 3 weeks.
Already unlocked the speed to 38kmh, if you have Android you can flash the custom firmware (Pm if you want the link to download)

Great scooter, as solid as my gfs Ninebot Max G30. Much better brakes, bigger battery and more powerful motor.

Niu is Ninebot's first serious threat in the scooter game imho.

    • Be careful because coming off at 38km wont end well.

      • You're absolutely right. Luckily I wear a full face helmet and reinforced gloves. I think I can handle 5kmh speed increase on this one over the Ninebot.

      • +2

Honestly if your careful it won't happen. I ride my mantis 10 off-road at alot over 38kmh and only had 1 crash 😂

  • I got one today. Last one in HN Fyshwick so apologies to my ACT brethren who might try to prove match TGG or JB.

I love it. It's got way more poke than my Ninebot G30 and I had the Masserati one that was supposed to be the beans.

  • For those who have bought it, I am interested to hear your views on the scooter….pros' and cons please.
