Same at HN if your JB has no stock. And on the X5 as well?

    Impressive.

I got two of these yesterday for that price as it went live early, I got it with the mobile repair plan for 24 months for $161. Which I thought was a bargain too.

  • telstra $1199 + 7 Day Price Match , in case lower than $999 on Black Friday.

    https://www.telstra.com.au/mobile-phones/mobiles-on-a-plan/o…

Our new 7 Day Price Match provides peace of mind that you’re getting the best device price available. If you find a valid lower price on an identical device within 7 days of receiving your new device from Telstra, we’ll credit the difference to your bill.

The 7 Day Price Match is available to eligible Telstra personal and small business customers who purchase an eligible device from us, outright or on repayment.

Does this policy run into many issues with carriers having specific models that only they carry still? It's been a while but i remember this sort of thing causing me problems a few years ago because Optus and Telstra had identical specs but different SNs so I'm wary now.

  • +1

Did they nerf these, I thought x3 was 12gb RAM?

    • +2

Can confirm X3 Pro is 12gb RAM.

    • +2

X5 Pro has two 256GB models with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM.
JB Hifi lists this as the 12GB model.

You might be reading Oppo Pad Air specs unintentionally.

      • Ahh you are right. I was reading pad specs. Thanks

  • +2

Considering this or Pixel 7 Pro , specs are similar but Pixel 7 Pro is a much newer phone and better camera. Anyone is on the same boat ?

    • +2

This does have much faster charging 40mins vs 2 hours (p7p) and better battery life than the 7pro. But Google's software is pretty good as well.

Give it a go in store and see which one you like.

    • More updates too. I've got a telstra oppo x3 pro and it's on a year old update which is six months after the phones release.

      • That doesn't sound right. You might need to change your region/carrier from Telstra to unbranded retail version.
I have an Oppo X2 Pro (retail no carrier) and it's on October 2022 security patch.

        • +1

Oppo and Telstra are blaming each other. There's quite a few complaints on the Oppo mobile owners Australia facebook page.

      • My has the latest update from September. New update should be Android 13, its already started to arrive on eu x3 pro

        • The problem is the Telstra version of the find x3 pro. Unbranded and Optus don't have this issue.

          • +1

@Caped Baldy: Not sure if its possible for x3 but ive unlocked x2 from telstra and switched it to Singapore region, after that i haven't had problems with updates and unlocked second sim

            • @rwt: People on the FB page were saying it's not possible with the Find x3 pro. I was in touch with Oppo support and they can software flash the phone manually but it wipes the phone and only their techs can do the updates.

    • +1

      x5 is Hasselblad tuned.

x5 is 256gb vs pixel 7 pro 128gb at similia price

      x5 gives you a free $400 pad

    • Heard the pixel 7 pro camera was great but battery life was poor

    • +1

I was keen on the 7 Pro and was even in the process of buying it on the Optus $69/month deal with $150 HN gift card. But Optus screwed me around for hours over 2 days just trying to prove my ID after their system glitched in-store. So I bailed because if they were that bad signing up, what would they be like if something goes wrong down the track?

Anyway, that off my chest, I went with this deal after watching multiple reviews of performance and camera quality versus other flagships. This phone has more than enough performance, great build and looks, and is arguably the best at normal photos but is quite a way behind on zoom and video. However, fast charging with 80W charger included, plus case and screen protector, 256Gb storage, and the Oppo Pad Air tablet thrown in make this a fabulous deal.

I transferred everything from my Pixel 3XL in less than 5 minutes so very happy so far.

    • Real world wise, I would pick the Oppo because better battery life, faster charging, faster processor. However, if you are a google purest or a super eye for photo/video details, then go for google pixel as it has a more pure OS (being google stock) and a slightly bigger sensor for the main camera.

  • Kogan seems to have the same deal https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/oppo-find-x5-pro-5g-256gb-ceramic-white-oppo/ and it is delivered.

    • +10

Would much rather deal with jbhifi if something went wrong with the phone though

  • Is the Oppo Pad Air offer redeemable on purchase through selected retailers only? I can't seem to find a list anywhere.

    • +4

Its in the terms and conditions.

Participating Retailer means JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, Officeworks, Big W, The Good Guys, Bing Lee, Amazon, Kogan, Catch, MobileCiti, Woolworths Mobile, Yes Distribution, Telstra, TPG Telecom (Vodafone Australia), Wireless1 and OPPO e-Store.

      • Thank you! I was having a Tuesday

        • +1

I tried doing this deal through Oppo's online store but apparently the rep says trade in credit deals don't stack with current sales (seemed weird, Ts and Cs only mention it doesn't stack with RRP changes, but Oppo store shows it as a sale and not RRP change). Was going to trade in my Oppo Find X3 Pro for $810 credit through Oppo, then buy at $999 on their website and redeem the tablet =(

  • Help needed.. I am ready to buy X5 pro, but the link shared here takes me to Jb website with oppo X5.. It doesn't say X5 pro on website. Please can someone advise me if thats the X5 pro?

    • +1

Link shows pro to me. Click the picture

      • Yes, got it., 😊 are there considerable differences between X5 and X5pro?

        • -1

One is for pro. The other is for amateurs.

          https://m.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=11378&idPhone2=…

Biggest difference is snapdragon 888 on the x5 and 8 gen1 on the x5pro.

What does it mean? Flagship specs bro.

          /flossy carter

        • Probably nothing that an average user would notice. For many the word pro is arousing and important in there group circle to fit in. More many the specs are required for gaming etc. Who would want to game on a mobile screen is beyond me but each to there own.

    • +1

link takes you to x5, search up oppo find x5 pro in google and click the jb hi fi link or just search it up at their website. After purchasing the phone i think you have to click the claim items button below the phone

      • Thanks.

        • Buy phone. The head over to https://oppopromotions.com.au/

Fill in the details it asks. The wait a bit and then robert is your dads brother.

          • @xoom: What does that mean? Robert?

            • @sedi: Robert = Bob.
              Your dad's brother= your uncle

So, "Bob's your uncle". Slang for "all good"

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/144488002456?var=443778917892 , $995.99 on Mobileciti ebay, I used code SNSNOV to bring it down to $945.99. I called Mobileciti to confirm they will issue a tax invoice and they confirmed that it is eligible for the Oppo Pad Air bonus claim

  • +2

For $1000 I'd bite if I needed both a phone and tablet don't think there would be two better pieces of hardware current gen for the money

  • This phone is so good with its super charge!

The only bad thing about this is the Android auto. It's dicky sometimes. It doesn't want to connect most of the time 😒

    • Have you tried a different cable? Apparently some are just shit

      • +1

Yup, my Samsung S22 ultra works fine

        • Yeah that sucks. A previous phone of mine didn't work if I had the second space/dual account for apps.

    • thats was an issue on X2, which was fixed too..i have the x2 working fine. there's oppo group on FB, try to check there

    • How is the phone overall? Reviews seem to comment that the UI for it is a deterrent, not sure if im brave enough to jump from the Samsung lines ><

      • Ui sucks. Everything else is good except the lacklustre 2x optical zoom

  • Would anyone like to share a good phone case recommendation for X5 Pro?

  • Better off buying this from mobicity ebay?
$945 and probably get a cashback through shopback for a couple of percent?

    • With https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/737790 you get better deal than measly $50 buckeroo off…

      • +1

Its actually $100 off if you add a $5 item using same code. Also dont forget ebay Gift cards
Should be able to get JB to drop another $50-$100 bucks if you bargain hard on the sales line or a deserted suburban store

$600 or so is the right price for this phone after cashback, discounted gift cards and redemption offers

        • +1

          So $600 outright?

Which gift cards and where do I buy them?

        • Thanks for that. Cancelled my first purchase and repurchased with a cover.

        • Post receipt when done 😂

  • Solid deal.

  • The price for the X5 series is pretty attractive with the gift but X6 is releasing this month with much better CPU, just FYI.

    • +1

is it gonna be at $1800?

  • Any suggestions for screen protector for this phone?

    • +6

As someone who has got the find x3 pro with the same screen, leave the one that comes with it on.

I've tried UV tempered glass. They work well, good clarity, fingerprint works, but the adhesive lifts after a while, and application can be messy.

I've tried regular curved glass, but this tends to leave a gap between the screen protector and the display, this catches light and makes everything seem whiter and can mess with the fingerprint sensor accuracy.

I've ended up going back to a hydrogel screen protector, essentially what was already on the phone when I bought it. Clarity is good, fingerprint works. I've just settled for cases that have a decent lip to protect my screen from all but direct impacts.

Casewise, spigen have a decent case that has a lip to protect the screen from most drops, but a direct impact from something still won't be nice. Otherwise, the xundd cases from aliexpress are quite nice if you want a bit more camera protection. I've had both on my phone with a quadlock universal adapter connected to my motorbike, no issues with vibration damage like other phones have experienced with their image stabilisation.

I've got the 65w charger for mine, works as advertised.

You can tinker with most of the settings to get it to a more normal android feel. I find this UI to be better than Xiaomi's MIUI in terms of ease of access. I find it easier to find settings on my find X3 pro than my partner's galaxy s22.

      • Thank you for your detailed reply :)

      • Do you have links to the case and screen protector?

I've put a plastic screen protector on it and find that the case pushes the edges causing air bubbles.

    • Your not reading properly , it comes factory fitted

  • The nerfed the telescopic zoom that was in the X2 Pro. Sigh..

  • +2

Got the X2 pro back when they were being cleared out. It's a shame but I have no idea why Oppo stoppedx offering 512gb model considering there's no memory card expansion. One of the big deal breakers for me.

The fast charging for me is revolutionary though. It's changed the way I use my device. A quick 5 min charge can usually get me to the optimal 80% battery so I'm always good when in a rush.

    • There is a 512gb version available.

      • not for australian market though

  • Still waiting for the OPPO Find N 512gb to be put on the sale…

  • Is this a dual sim? Can't find details on the website.
I am very tempt to jump on and replacement my poco f3

    • +2

Just the fourth line under “DETAILS”…

      Dual SIM (nano-SIM+ eSIM)
      Yes

      • Damn, I am blind!

        • Should have gone to specsavers.

  • Would anyone know why this site (and VideoPro) will no longer open in Chrome on my android phone?

    Used to be fine.

Still work fine on my desktop.

    :(

  • Ooof just got a s22 this year, but this is very tempting

    • Ooof , you've got too much money !

      • Haha i just looked on Marketplace and 128gb is 'priced' at $800. I got my 256gb for $450 (after jb trade in) so even if I sell it for $700 I'll be ahead.

  • Airpad offer is only for devices bought by November 24 or something like that, offer can be redeemed up to December 8.

  • Was about to get the pro when it was $1199, resisted and got the S22 from Harvey Norman instead.

Any reasonable excuses not to get it now?

    • +3

Well you did buy an s22 so there's that.

    • +2

Any reasonable excuses not to get it now?

This is ozb. You just buy.
