  • can echo be paired together for spacial effect?

  • will these device have support in the future? Amazon just laid off 10,000 people, most are from alexa device …

  • I can't see Amazon moving away from the Alexa ecosystem - they have invested too much and it's a main competitor of Google Assistant and Apple Siri.

    • Also with fb pulling out from the business market with their portal range, there is an opportunity for Amazon along with their AWS stack. And they get revenue from Amazon music through those devices. Wish they would open echo to YouTube. It's just a silly move.

  • Are these easy to connect to a TV which only has HDMI, USB ports and Speaker ports (AUX)?

    • Yes the only thing you really need is an HDMI port.

      • Can any of these be used as a really cheap and simple sound bar? The oldies want a sound bar but it needs to be so simple that it automatically turns on / kicks in when the TV turns on and would be even better if using the TV remote volume actually changes the external speaker volume. My SONOS does that but it’s overkill and overpriced for my oldies.

Not really… You can if you have a Fire TV stick, so they would need that first (which probably won't work for them given I would imagine they only use FTA channels, etc.).

          • @Apostle0748: Oh okay. Yeah, they only use FTA. I bought them an ATV and even that was too hard for them to use. Will have to keep looking. Thanks for the explanation!

@m00seTheC0wSnake: Best to buy them a cheap soundbar from Kmart / bigw. For the tv to control the soundbar, you probably need one ARC compatible, probably not cheap by then

  • following by the massive layoff alexa seeya
