LG CS 65" Self Lit OLED AI 4K UHD Smart TV (2022) $2688 + Delivery ($0 C&C) @ JB Hi-Fi

1010

The newly released LG CS 65" is priced at $2688 at JB Hifi during the upcoming Black Friday sales.

For those unaware, the CS is essentially the C1 panel equipped with a C2 processor. Would I be better off waiting to see how the C2 EVO is discounted over Boxing Day?

55 and 65 are the mass produced models, everything else (bigger and smaller) takes a hit due to poorer economy of scale. The 83” C2 is $7995, almost double the price for an extra 6 inches and more peak brightness.

If trying to keep the price down, a Sony X90K Full Array LCD will be $2788 for the 75. But you won’t see an OLED at that price point for a while. The Sony is a great panel, just not a fan of the Google ads/spyware but all the TVs have that to one extent or another these days.

          • @SanguinarySeraph: I'm really upset to find Sony are now a Google based TV. I had my eyes on a Sony TV a while ago but that google shit is a deal breaker.

@TeamSAXON: I completely agree. Unfortunately there’s not much in terms of alternative. Samsung is pretty egregious with their ads and selling data too. Currently LGs WebOS isn’t so bad in Australia, but elsewhere they’ve been ramping up. And that pretty much covers the market.

My suggestion is to use the TV as a dumb panel and hook up an Apple TV 4K. It’s still collecting your data, but at least it’s not being on sold and you won’t get 3rd party ads. Other solution is a Linux based HTPC but that’s well into the realms of madness for most people.

              • @SanguinarySeraph: If the TV isnt connected to the internet, theoretically it wouldn't be able to curate ads and such? Is that what you mean by using it as a dumb panel

                • @TeamSAXON: Pretty much. Either use it without connecting to the internet if you just want FTA and blu ray etc, or just do your initial setup/calibration etc and then run all your streaming off an external HDMI device (ATV for example) and basically never touch the TV interface again.

  • I've got an LG 55" C9, should I upgrade to 65"?

    • Do you want/are you prepared to spend the money to make your TV bigger?

There are definitely differences between the models over the last few years, but they’re going to be veeeery similar other than the size.

    • When I upgraded from 55 to 65 I was a bit disappointed. Was expecting it to have a bigger impact. When its fullscreen it does look good but anything with black bars is underwhelming for the size. I would go to 75/77 inch if you want that wow factor. 10 inches doesn't do it most of the time. Im sure May/June time 2023 you'll see amazing deals for big sizes. For the people saying sit closer, that doesn't work either lol.

Hi, I haven't bought a new TV in 10 years. But my LG is on its last legs.
I don't want a huge TV as I only have a small livingroom and cannot go over 55"

Can someone please help me and explain the differences between these 2 models?
They're both OLED, but prices are very different. So I'm not sure which one is better and why.
Also, we don't watch aot of TV. Just some Netflix movies and series here and there.

    Thanks in advance 😊

Short answer: Go the CS, its pretty much a C1/C2 for the price of the A2

Long answer: The CS is a holiday period stunt model built at a lower cost in order to preserve stock and price erosion of the mainline models. As above, it’s effectively this years C2s electronics paired (which are top end) with last years (higher yield) C1 OLED panel.

The A2 might be ok if you just watch FHD/UHD streaming but is pretty weak for any external content, free to air or gaming as it is quite an entry level TV equipped with an OLED panel.

The biggest point though is that during the sales period, they’re likely to be very similarly priced (literally the 55 CS will come down to the current $1888 of the A2). The only thing to bear in mind is that stunt models are typically only manufactured in a single run and once they’re sold out that’s it (it has happened before with insane demand that manufacturers have geared up another run, but that can take 6 months).

      • Thank you. Yes the price will be the same this week. Hence why I wasn't sure which one would be best. We don't use it for gaming. My son has a separate TV especially for his games, so this is the main TV for movies and TV streaming.
        I'll go for the CS.

Now to just find out if I missed the 10% off
gift cards, sale. I thought it was next week, but I think I may have missed it somehow.

        • The CS has the new processor so upscaling, tone mapping, colours, motion etc will all be far superior. Also brighter which helps with daytime viewing in the lounge. Otherwise lesser OLEDs can be tough with reflections because of the glossy screen. Its a no brainer to buy the CS. Should be plenty of deals for it from now until the next month or two

  • I'm tossing up between purchasing the LG CS 65" or 77". I'm concerned that the former may feel like a significant downgrade in size (as I'm currently using a 75" non-OLED), but the price of the latter is a bit tough to swallow. Decisions, decisions…

    • Changed my mind and opted for the Sony A80J 55" for the bedroom and Sony A80K 77" for the lounge room. Fingers crossed they're worthwhile.

      • curious as to what made you change your mind from LG to Sony as I am in a similar boat

Ultimately, the prices ended up being less expensive when factoring in the 10% cashback via Cash Rewards and the $500 gift card (applicable for the Sony A80K 77" only), and the consensus seems to be that LG is the choice for gaming and Sony is the choice for multimedia, although seemingly very similar based on reviews. • @Ben1985: I also did, wondering if you already got your TV?
its says next day delivery but until today I still have not got it.

      • I pulled the trigger on the a80k 65" vis Sony website.

  • Seems like a great deal!

Haven't seen many OLED deals in a Longtime post COVID.

  • Bing lee has dropped 65” price to 2688 already.

      JB has too now

  • If not in a rush to buy TV, def seems as if OLED prices are trending downwards. Really want a 75” but they are not quite affordable for me yet

    • I need to replace my 48" w600b bravia.. Starting to get panel lines. OLED still a bit too far out of my price range save for that insane deal for the $2270 CS the other day

  • Videopro has the 55” LG CS for $1770; I was able to price match it with Good Guys :)

I wanted to add that the Good guys team brought the tv to the warehouse at the back and loaded it into my car, so nice of them
